अपण्यविक्रयरता अगम्यागामिनस्तथा
They will delight in selling worthless goods and consort with the unacceptable.
शूद्रवृत्त्यैव जीवन्ति नरकार्हा द्विजा मुने
O sage, brāhmaṇas worthy of hell will live by the occupation of śūdras.
भविष्यन्ति कलौ मर्त्यासर्वे क्षुद्भयकातराः
In the Kali age, all mortals will be fearful of hunger and danger.
आत्मानं तारयिष्यन्ति अनावृष्ट्यातिदुखिताः
Afflicted by great suffering from drought, they will strive only to save themselves.
कलौ सर्वे भविष्यन्ति स्वल्पभाग्या बहुप्रजाः
In the Kali age, all will have little fortune but many children.
पतिवाक्यमनादृत्य सदान्यगृहतत्पराः
Disregarding their husbands' words, women will always be intent on other households.
असद्वृत्ता भविष्यन्ति पुरुषेषु कुलाङ्गनाः
Women of noble families will become of bad conduct toward men.
दुर्भिक्षकरपीडाभिरतीवोपद्रुता जनाः
People will be severely afflicted by famine and oppressive taxes.
निधाय हृद्यकर्मणि प्रेरयन्ति वचः शुभम्
Having set their minds on selfish deeds, they will utter virtuous words.
भिक्षवश्चाव मित्रादिस्नेहसंबन्धयन्त्रिताः
And beggars, bound by ties of friendship and affection, will act accordingly.
अन्नोपाधिनिमित्तेन शिष्यान्गृह्णन्ति भिक्षवः
For the sake of food, beggars will accept disciples.
कुर्वन्त्यो गुरुभर्तृआणामाज्ञामुल्लङ्घयन्ति च
While appearing to serve their teachers and husbands, they will transgress their commands.
यदा द्विजा भविष्यन्ति तदा वृद्धिं कलिर्व्रजेत्
When the twice-born become like this, then Kali will increase.
तदैव तु कलेर्वृद्धिरनुमेया विचक्षणैः
At that very time, the wise should recognize the growth of Kali.
सर्वधर्मेषु नष्टेषु याति निःश्रीकतां जगत्
When all righteousness is lost, the world becomes bereft of prosperity.
हरिभक्तिपरानेष न कलिर्बाधते क्वचित्
But Kali never afflicts those devoted to the worship of Hari.
द्वापरे यज्ञमेवाहुर्दानमेकं कलौ युगे
In Dvapara, sacrifice alone is praised; in Kali Yuga, charity alone.
द्वापरे यञ्च मासेन ह्यहोरात्रेण तत्कलौ
What is gained in Dvapara by a month’s effort is gained in Kali by a day and night.
यदाप्नोति तदाप्नोति कलौ संकीर्त्य केशवम्
Whatever is attained then, is attained in Kali by chanting the name of Keshava.
कुर्वन्ति हरिपूजां वा न कलिर्बाधते च तान्
Those who perform worship of Hari are not afflicted by Kali.
निष्कामा वा सकामा वा न कलिर्बाधते च तान्
Whether they are free from desire or filled with desire, Kali does not trouble them.
त एव शिवतुल्याश्च नात्र कार्या विचारणा
They are indeed equal to Shiva; there is no need for further deliberation here.
घोरे कलियुगे प्राप्ते विष्णुं ध्यायन्न सीदति
When the dreadful age of Kali arrives, one who meditates on Vishnu does not fall.
घोरे कलियुगे प्राप्ते सर्वधर्मविवर्जिते
When the dreadful age of Kali arrives, devoid of all righteousness,
हरिस्मरणमेवात्र संपूर्णत्वविधायकम्
Here, only the remembrance of Hari brings about completeness.
इतीरयन्ति ये नित्यं नहि तान्बाधते कलिः
Those who recite this always are not afflicted by Kali.
इति जल्पन्ति ये वापि कलिस्तान्नापि बाधते
Even those who merely utter these words are not troubled by Kali.
इत्थं वदन्ति ये विप्र ते कृतार्था न संशयः
Those brahmins who speak thus are fulfilled, without a doubt.
इति वाप्युञ्चरन्तीह न च तेषां कलेर्भयम्
Even those who act in this way here have no fear of Kali.
घोरे कलियुगे विप्र हरिभक्तस्तु दुर्लभा
O brahmin, in the dreadful age of Kali, a devotee of Hari is truly rare.
