यतिष्ये परया भक्त्या ह्यहं जातिस्मरो यतः
I shall strive with supreme devotion, for I remember my previous births.
सर्वपापविनिर्मुक्तः प्रयाति परमं पदम्
Freed from all sins, one attains the highest state.
भक्तिभद्भिः प्रशान्तैश्च किं पुनः सम्यगर्चनात्
What then of those who worship properly, along with devotees who are peaceful?
अनन्ततुष्टिमापन्नो हरिपूजापरो ऽभवत्
Absorbed in the worship of Hari, he attained endless satisfaction.
ज्ञानतो ऽज्ञानतो वापि पूजकानां विमुक्तिदः
Whether knowingly or unknowingly, worshippers are granted liberation.
नित्यं सन्निहितो मृत्युः कर्तव्यो धर्मसंग्रहः
Death is always near; therefore, one should practice the essence of righteousness.
कायः संनिहितापायो धानादीनां किमुच्यते
When the body itself is subject to imminent danger, what can be said of wealth and the like?
तेषां भक्तिर्भवेच्छुद्धा देवदेवे जनार्दने
Let their devotion be pure for Janardana, the God of gods.
सुलभाः सर्वयज्ञाश्च विष्णुभक्तिः सुदुर्लभा
All sacrifices are easy to perform, but devotion to Vishnu is very difficult to obtain.
सर्वभूतदया वापि सुलभा यस्य कस्य चित्
Compassion for all beings is easily found in anyone.
सत्संगस्तुलसीसेबा हरिभक्तिश्च दुर्लभा
Association with the virtuous, service to the tulasi, and devotion to Hari are rare.
अर्चयेद्धि जगन्नाथं सारमेतद्द्विजोत्तम
One should worship Jagannatha; this, O best of twice-born, is the essence.
हरिभक्तिपरो भूयादेतदेव रसायनम्
One should become devoted to Hari; this alone is the true elixir.
आसन्नमेव नगरं कृतान्तस्य हि दृश्यते
The city of Death is seen to be very near.
समर्चयस्व विप्रेन्द्र यदि भुक्तिमभीप्ससि
O foremost of Brahmins, worship sincerely if you desire enjoyment.
ये प्रपन्ना महात्मानस्ते कृतार्था न संशयः
Those great souls who have surrendered are fulfilled, without doubt.
येर्ऽचयन्ति महाविष्णुं प्रणतार्तिप्रणाशनम्
Those who worship Maha-Vishnu, who destroys the distress of the bowed,
त्रिःसप्तकुलसंयुक्ता स्ते यान्ति हरिमन्दिरम्
They, along with twenty-one generations of their family, go to the abode of Hari.
पानीयं वा फलं वापि स एव भगवत्प्रियः
Whether it is water or even a fruit, he alone is dear to the Blessed Lord.
ते यान्ति विष्णुभुवनं यावदाभूतसंप्लवम्
They go to the world of Vishnu until the dissolution of creation.
त एव भुवनं सर्वं पुंनति स्वाङ्घ्रिपांशुना
They alone purify the entire world with the dust of their own feet.
तत्रैव सर्वदेवाश्च तिष्टन्ति श्रीहरिस्तथा
There, all the gods remain, as does the glorious Hari.
तत्र सर्वाणि श्रेयांसि वर्द्धत्यहरहर्द्विज
There, all auspicious things increase day by day, O twice-born one.
न बाधन्ते ग्रहास्तत्र भूतवेताल कादयः
There, planets, spirits, and the like do not cause affliction.
यतः संनिहितस्तत्र भगवान्मधुसूदनः
Because there, the Blessed Madhusudana is present.
श्मशानसदृशं विद्यात्तद गृहं शुभवार्जितम् पुराणन्यायमीमांसा धर्मशास्त्राणि च द्विज
Know that house, though acquired by auspicious means, to be like a cremation ground, O twice-born, if it lacks the ancient law, inquiry, and treatises on dharma.
सांगा वेदास्तथा सर्वे विष्णोरूपं प्रकीर्तितम्
All the Vedas with their branches are proclaimed as the form of Vishnu.
ते ऽपि यान्ति परं स्थानं सर्वकर्मनिबर्हणम्
They too attain the supreme state, where all actions cease.
यां शृण्वतां कीर्तयतां सद्यः पापक्षयो भवेत्
By hearing or reciting this, the destruction of sin occurs immediately.
संवादः सुमहानासीत्तं वक्ष्यामि निशामय
A very great dialogue took place; I shall tell it—listen.
