यः पाति लोकान्परिपूर्णभावस्तमप्रमेयं शरणं प्रपद्ये
I take refuge in Him, whose fullness sustains the worlds, who is immeasurable.
समस्तयज्ञैः परिजुष्टमाद्यं नतो ऽस्मि तुष्टिप्रदमुग्रवीर्यम्
I bow to the primal one, honored by all sacrifices, who grants satisfaction, of mighty strength.
गुणप्रियं कामदमस्तसंगमतीन्द्रियं विश्वभघुजं वितृष्णम्
Lover of virtue, bestower of desires, unattached, beyond the senses, holding the universe in His arms, free from craving.
विज्ञानभेदं प्रतिपन्नकल्पं न वाङ्मयं प्राणमयं भजामि
I do not worship that which is composed of speech or life-breath, but that which is realized through the diversity of knowledge and established in the imagination.
जानन्ति देवा कमलोद्भवाद्यस्तोष्याम्यहं तं कथमात्मरूपम्
The gods, beginning with the lotus-born, know Him; how then shall I, desiring to please Him, comprehend His true nature?
दयांबुधे पाहि भयाकुलं मां पुनः पुनस्त्वां शरणं प्रपद्ये
O ocean of compassion, protect me, who am afflicted by fear; again and again I take refuge in You.
प्रत्यक्षतामगात्तस्य भगवांस्तेजसां निधिः
Then the Blessed Lord, the treasury of splendor, became manifest before him.
किरीटिनं कुण्डलिनं हारकेयूरभूषितम्
He appeared adorned with a crown, earrings, a necklace, and armlets.
नासाविन्यस्तमुक्ता भवर्धमानतनुच्छविम्
A pearl was set upon His nose, enhancing the radiance of His half-divine body.
तुलसीकोमलदलैरर्चिताङ्घ्निं महाद्युतिम्
His feet, worshipped with tender tulasi leaves, shone with great brilliance.
दृष्ट्वा नानाम विप्रेन्द्रो दण्डवत्क्षितिमण्डले
Seeing Him, the foremost of Brahmins bowed down flat upon the ground.
मुरारे रक्ष रक्षेति व्याहरन्नान्यधीस्तदा
Crying out, 'O slayer of Mura, protect, protect!' he thought of nothing else at that time.
वरं वृणुष्व वत्सेति प्रोवाच मुनिपुङ्गवम्
The best of sages was addressed: 'Choose a boon, dear one.'
पुनः प्रणम्य तं प्राह देवदेवं जनार्द्दनम्
Again bowing, he spoke to Janardana, the God of gods.
त्वयि भक्तिर्दृढा मे ऽस्तु जन्मजन्मान्तरेष्वपि
May I have firm devotion to You, even in birth after birth.
कीटेषु पक्षिषु मृगेषु सरीसृपेषु रक्षः पिशाचमनुजेष्वपि यत्र तत्रजजातस्य मे भवतु केशव ते प्रसाद्दात्त्वय्येव भक्तिरचलाव्यभिचारणी च
Whether born among insects, birds, beasts, reptiles, demons, spirits, or humans—wherever I am born, O Keshava, by Your grace may I have unwavering, unswerving devotion to You alone.
एवमस्त्विति लोकेशः शङ्खप्रान्तेन संस्पृशन् दिव्यज्ञानं ददौ तस्मै योगिनामपिदुर्लमभघम्
Let it be so, said the Lord of the worlds, touching him with the edge of the conch, and granted him divine knowledge, rare even among yogis.
पुः स्तुवन्तं विप्रेन्द्रं देवदेवो जनार्द्दनः इदमाह स्मितमुखो हस्तं तच्छिरसि न्यसन्
While the foremost of Brahmins was praising him, Janardana, the god of gods, smiling, placed his hand upon his head and spoke these words.
नरनारायणस्थानं व्रज मोक्षं गमिष्यसि
Go to the abode of Nara and Narayana; you will attain liberation.
सर्वान्कामानवाप्यान्ते मोक्षभागी भवेत्ततः
After obtaining all desires, one ultimately becomes a recipient of liberation.
नरनरायणस्थानमुत्तङ्को ऽपि ततो ययौ
Then, Uttanka also went to the abode of Nara and Narayana.
हरिभक्तिः परा प्रोक्ता सर्वकामपलप्रदा
Supreme devotion to Hari is declared to grant the fruits of all desires.
पूजयन्माधयवं नित्यं नरनारायणाश्रमे
Worshipping Madhava daily in the hermitage of Nara and Narayana,
आवाप दुरवापं वै तद्विष्णोः परमं पदम्
He attained that supreme abode of Vishnu, which is difficult to attain.
नारायणो जगन्नाथो भक्तानां मानवर्द्धनः
Narayana, Lord of the universe, increases the welfare of his devotees.
इहामुत्र सुखप्रेप्सुः पूजयेद्भक्तिसंयुतः
One who desires happiness here and hereafter should worship with devotion.
सो ऽपि सर्वाघनिर्मुक्तः प्रयाति भवनं हरेः
He too, freed from all sins, goes to the abode of Hari.
सर्वपापहरं पुण्यं भुक्तिमुक्तिप्रदं नृणाम्
It destroys all sins, is holy, and grants enjoyment and liberation to people.
शृण्वतां वदतां चैव तद्भक्तानां विशेषतः
To those who listen and speak it, especially to the devotees,
नमस्करोम्यहं तेभ्यो यत्संगान्मुक्ति भाग्नरः
I bow to them, by whose association people attain liberation.
