एकादर्शीव्रतरता वै भागवतोत्तमाः
Those who are steadfast in the vow of seeing all as one are the highest among devotees.
मदर्थं कर्ंमकर्त्तारस्ते वै भागवतोत्तमाः
Those who perform actions for my sake are the highest among devotees.
मयापि गदितुं शक्या नाब्दकोटिशतैरपि
Even I am not able to describe them, not even in hundreds of millions of ages.
सर्वभूताश्रयो दान्तो मेत्रो धर्ंमपरायणः
He who is the refuge of all beings, self-controlled, friendly, and devoted to righteousness—
मन्मूर्त्तिध्याननिरतः परं निर्वाणमाप्स्यसि
Absorbed in meditation on my form, you will attain the supreme liberation.
दत्त्वा वरं स देवेशस्तत्रैवान्तरधीयत
Having granted the boon, the Lord of the gods disappeared right there.
चचार परमं धर्ममीजे च विधिवन्मखैः
He practiced the highest dharma and performed sacrifices according to the prescribed rites.
ध्यानक्षपितकर्मा तु परं निर्वाणमात्पवान्
His actions consumed by meditation, he attained the supreme liberation.
ईप्सिवं मनसा यद्यनत्तदान्प्रोत्यसंशयम्
Whatever one desires in the mind, that is surely obtained, without doubt.
भगवद्भक्ति माहात्म्यं किमन्यच्छ्रोतुमिच्छसि
What else do you wish to hear about the greatness of devotion to the Lord?
पुनः पप्रच्छ सनकं ज्ञानविज्ञानपारगम्
Again, he questioned Sanaka, who had mastered knowledge and realization.
परया दयया तथवं ब्रूहिं शास्त्रार्थपारग
Out of supreme compassion, speak to me, O knower of the meaning of the scriptures.
दुःस्वन्पनाशनं पुण्यं धर्म्यं पापहरं शुभम्
That which destroys evil dreams, is meritorious, righteous, removes sin, and is auspicious—
सर्वरोगप्रशमनमायुर्वर्ध्दनकारणम्
That which pacifies all diseases and is the cause of increasing lifespan—
गङ्गायमुनयोर्योगं वदन्ति परमर्षयः
The supreme sages speak of the union of the Ganga and Yamuna.
मुनयो मनवश्चैव सेवन्ते पुण्यकाङ्क्षिणः
Indeed, sages and men who desire merit attend upon it.
रविजा यमुना ब्रह्मंस्तयोर्योगः शुभावहः
The Yamuna, born of the Sun, and Brahma— their union brings auspiciousness.
सर्वपापक्षयकरी सर्वोपद्र वनाशिनी
It destroys all sins and removes every calamity.
तेषां पुण्यतमं ज्ञेयं प्रयागाख्यं महामुने
Among them, O great sage, the most sacred is known as Prayaga.
तथैव मुनयः सर्वे चक्रश्च विविधान्मखान्
Likewise, all the sages performed various sacrifices there.
गङ्गाबिन्द्वभिषेकस्य कलां नार्हन्ति षोडशीम्
They do not attain even a sixteenth part of the merit of bathing with a drop of Ganga.
सो ऽपि मुच्येत पापेभ्यः किमु गङ्गाभिषेकवान्
Even he is freed from sins—how much more so one who bathes in the Ganga?
संसेव्या मुनिभिर्देवः किं पुनः पामरैर्जनै
The god is to be served by sages—how much more, then, by ordinary people?
तत्रैव नेत्रं विज्ञेयं विध्यर्द्धाधः समुज्ज्वलत्
There itself, the eye is to be known, shining below the half of the altar.
सारुप्यदायकं विष्णोः किमस्मात्कथ्यते परम
What more can be said than this: it grants resemblance to Vishnu.
महद्विमानमारुढाः प्रयान्ति परमं पदम्
Mounted on a great celestial vehicle, they attain the supreme abode.
सहस्राणि समुद्धृत्य विष्णुलोके व्रजन्ति वै
Lifting up thousands, they truly go to the world of Vishnu.
पुण्यक्षेत्रेषु सर्वेषौ स्थितवान्नात्र संशयः
He has stood in all the sacred fields—of this there is no doubt.
मदङ्गस्पर्शेमात्रेण देवानामाधपो भवेत्
By the mere touch of my body, one becomes equal to the gods.
गङ्गोद्भवा तु मृल्लोकान्नयत्यच्युतरुपताम्
Indeed, the earth born of Ganga leads to the form of the Imperishable.
