विष्णुः सर्वात्मना पूज्यस्त्याज्यासूया तथानृतम्
Viṣṇu is to be worshipped with all one's being; envy and falsehood must be renounced.
धर्मक्षयकरः क्रोधस्तस्मात्तं परिवर्जयेत्
Anger causes the decline of dharma; therefore, it should be avoided.
यशः क्षयकरः कामस्तस्मात्तं परिवर्जयेत्
Desire causes the loss of reputation; therefore, it should be avoided.
नरकाणां साधनं च तस्मात्तदपि संत्यजेत्
Actions leading to hell should also be abandoned.
तस्मात्तदभिसंयोज्य परात्मनि सुखी भवेत्
Therefore, joining oneself to the Supreme Self, one becomes happy.
विष्णौ स्थिते जगन्नाथे न भजन्ति मदोद्धताः
Though Viṣṇu abides as Lord of the universe, the arrogant do not worship him.
संसारसागरे मग्नाः कथं पारं प्रयान्ति हि
How do those who are submerged in the ocean of worldly existence reach the far shore?
नश्यन्ति सकला रोगाः सत्यं सत्यं वदाम्यहम्
All diseases are destroyed—this is the truth, the truth I declare.
इतीरयन्ति ये नित्यं ते वै सर्वत्र वन्दिताः
Those who recite this always are honored everywhere.
यत्प्राभावं न जानन्ति तं याहि शरणं मुने
Go to the refuge of that whose power is unknown, O sage.
हृत्पद्मसंस्थितं विष्णुं न विजानन्ति नारद
Narada, they do not know Vishnu, who dwells in the lotus of the heart.
हरिः श्रद्धावतां तुष्येन्न धनैर्न च बान्धवैः
Hari is pleased by those who have faith, not by wealth nor by relatives.
विष्णुभघक्तिमतां नॄणां भवेज्जन्मनि जन्मनि
Among those devoted to Vishnu, this occurs in every birth.
एतद्विदित्वा सततं पूजनीयो जनार्द्दनः
Knowing this always, Janardana is to be worshipped.
हरिपूजारतानां तु भवत्येन न संशयः
For those absorbed in worship of Hari, this certainly happens—there is no doubt.
इहामुत्रासुखप्रेप्सुः परनिन्दापरो भवेत्
One who desires happiness here and hereafter becomes intent on criticizing others.
सत्पात्रदानशून्यं यत्तद्धनं धिक्पुनः पुनः
Wealth that lacks giving to worthy recipients—such wealth is to be condemned again and again.
पापानामाकरं तद्वै विज्ञेयं मुनिसत्तम
That is to be understood as the source of sins, O best of sages.
चौर्येण रक्षितमिव विद्धि लोकेषु निश्चितम्
Know it as certainly guarded by theft among people.
नाराधयन्ति विश्वेशं पशुपाशविमोचकम्
They do not worship the Lord of the universe, the liberator from the bonds of creatures.
हरि भक्ति युता दैवी तद्धीना ह्यासुरी महा
Divine devotion to Hari is accompanied by faith; lacking that, it is truly demonic.
श्रेष्ठाः सर्वत्र विख्याता यतो भक्तिः सुदुर्लभा
The best are renowned everywhere, for devotion is very rare.
कामादिरहिता ये च तेषां तुष्यति केशवः
Those who are free from desire and the like—Kesava is pleased with them.
सत्पात्रदाननिरताः प्रयान्ति परमं पदम्
Those devoted to giving to worthy recipients attain the supreme state.
पठतां शुण्वतां सद्यः पापराशिः प्रणश्यति
For those who recite and those who listen, heaps of sin are instantly destroyed.
यजन्ति ज्ञानयोगेन ज्ञानरूपिणमव्ययम्
They worship the imperishable one, who is of the nature of knowledge, through the yoga of knowledge.
यजन्ति कर्मयोगेन सर्वधातारमच्युतम्
They worship the unfailing supporter of all, through the yoga of action.
अजरामरवन्मूढास्तिष्टन्ति नरकीटकाः
Deluded ones, like worms in hell, remain as if they were ageless and deathless.
न यजन्ति जगन्नाथं सर्वश्रैयोविधायकम्
They do not worship the Lord of the universe, the bestower of all prosperity.
दैवात्के ऽपीह जायन्ते लोकानुग्रहतत्पराः
Even here, by divine will, those devoted to the welfare of the world are born.
