And when the time of decline arrives, if one's own sacred fire is at a distance,
when the fire for worship is far away, but a brother stands nearby,

Having thus saluted the ancestors, being devoted to Nārāyaṇa,

then all the Brahmins, having been invited, should eat, O twice-born.
And as is proper, he should give them honey and meat and the like.

If any Brahmin appointed for the śrāddha rejects the vessel,
or if, while the Brahmins are eating, one touches another,
while the Brahmins are eating, the performer, intent on faith,
should recite the Rakṣoghna, Vaiṣṇava, and especially the Paitṛka hymns.

Those twice-born who perform the svasti rite without moving the vessel are blessed.

With words from the Smṛtis such as, 'May the givers prosper,' one should recite accordingly.
One should give, according to ability, a gift accompanied by betel and fragrant substances.
