ज्ञाचेश्वराय ज्ञेयाय ज्ञात्रे विज्ञानसंपदे
To the Lord of knowledge, the object to be known, the knower, the possessor of perfect understanding,
ध्यानेश्वराय सुधियेध्येयध्यातृस्वरुपिणे
To the Lord of meditation, whose true form is the wise meditator, the object of meditation, and meditation itself,
यच्छक्तियुक्तास्तमजं पुराणं सत्यं स्तुतीशं सततं नतो ऽस्मि
Endowed with that power, to the unborn, ancient, true Lord of praise, I bow always.
कल्पान्तरुद्राख्यतमुः स देवः शेतेंऽघ्रिपानस्तमजं भजामि
He who is called Rudra at the end of the aeon, that God, whose feet are honored by the wise— to that unborn One I devote myself.
विराजमानः स्वपदे पराख्ये तं विष्णुमाद्यं शरणं प्रपद्ये
Resplendent in His supreme abode, to that primeval Viṣṇu I seek refuge.
संकल्पपूर्वात्मकदेहहेतुस्तंस्तमेव नित्यं शरणं प्रपद्ये
The cause of bodies, whose nature is preceded by will— to Him alone I always seek refuge.
देवं च भूमारविनोदशीलं तं वासुदेवं सततं नतो ऽस्मि
To the God who delights the earth and the rivers, to that Vāsudeva, I bow always.
विदार्यसंराक्षितवान्स्वभक्तं प्रह्लादमीशं तमजं मनामि
He who protected his devotee Prahlāda by tearing apart the enemy— to that unborn Lord I honor.
जगद्विधातारमकर्मकं च परं पुराणं पुरुषम नतो ऽस्मि
To the Creator of the world, actionless, supreme, ancient Person, I bow.
स्वमूर्तिभेदैः स्थित एक ईशस्तमादिमात्मा नमहं भजामि
He who remains one Lord through the diversity of His own forms— to that original Self I bow and worship.
यस्मिन्नेष्यति पश्चाच्च तमस्ति शरणं गतः
In whom all will enter and from whom all emerge— to Him I have sought refuge.
असङ्गी परिपूर्णश्च तमस्मि शरणं गतः
Unattached and complete— to Him I have sought refuge.
न ज्ञायते परः शुद्धस्तमस्मि शरणं गतः
The supreme, pure One cannot be known— to Him I have sought refuge.
सर्वत्र भाति ज्ञानात्मा तमस्मि शरणं गतः
The Self of knowledge who shines everywhere— to Him I have sought refuge.
देवतानां हितार्थाय तं कूर्मं शरणं गतः
For the welfare of the gods, to that Kūrma (Tortoise) I have sought refuge.
तस्थाविदं जगत्कृत्स्नं वाराहं तं नतो ऽस्म्यहम्
Who upheld the entire world— to that Varāha (Boar), I bow.
विदार्य हतवान्यो हि तं नृसिंहं नतो ऽस्म्यहम्
Having torn apart his enemies, I bow to that Narasimha.
आब्रह्मभुवनं पादात्सुरेभ्यस्तं नतो ऽजितम्
From Brahma’s world down to the feet, I bow to that unconquered One among the gods.
क्षत्रियान्वयभेत्ता यो जामदग्न्यं नतो ऽस्मि तम्
He who shattered the lineage of kshatriyas, I bow to that son of Jamadagni.
हतवान्राक्षसानीकं रामचन्द्रं नतो ऽस्म्यहम्
Having destroyed the host of rakshasas, I bow to Rama Chandra.
संजहार कुलं स्वं यस्तं श्रीकृष्णप्यहं भजे
He who abandoned his own clan, I worship that Shri Krishna.
पश्यन्ति निर्मलं शुद्धं तमीशानं भजाम्यहम्
Those who see the pure and spotless Lord, I worship Him.
स्थापयामास यो धर्मं कृतादौ तन्नमाम्यहम्
He who established dharma at the beginning of the age, I bow to Him.
न शक्यं तेन संख्यातुं कोट्यब्दैरपि तं भजे
He cannot be counted even in millions of ages; I worship Him.
देवासुराश्च मनवः कथं तं श्रुल्लको भजे
How can gods, demons, and Manus worship Him? I, insignificant, worship Him.
पवित्रतां प्रपद्यन्ते त कथं स्तौमि चाल्पधीः
Those who attain purity, how can I, of little understanding, praise Him?
पापिनस्तु विशुद्धाः स्युः शद्धा मोक्षमवान्पुयुः
Even sinners become purified; faith brings liberation and purification.
पश्यन्ति यं ज्ञानरुपं तमस्मि शरणं गतः
Those who see Him as the form of knowledge, to Him I have taken refuge.
तमादिदेवमजरं ज्ञानरुपं भजाम्यहम्
I worship that primeval, ageless God, the embodiment of knowledge.
सहस्रशीर्षकं देवं वन्दे भावात्मकं हरिम्
I salute Hari, the thousand-headed God, whose essence is feeling.
