स्वभावशुद्धं परिपूर्णभावं वदन्ति यज्ज्ञानतनुं च तज्ज्ञाः
The wise declare him to be pure by nature, complete in being, and the embodiment of knowledge.
जगत्स्वरुपो जगदादिनाथस्तस्मै नताः स्मः पुरुषोत्तमाय
To him, the form of the universe, the lord of the beginning of the world, we bow—Puruṣottama.
तमीशमीड्यं पुरुषं पुराणं नताः स्म विष्णुं पुरुषाथसिद्ध्यै
To that venerable lord, the ancient person, we bow to Viṣṇu for the attainment of human goals.
कालात्मकं तं त्रिदशाधिनाथं नमामहे वै पुरुषार्थरुपम्
We bow to him, the soul of time, lord of the gods, who is the very form of human aims.
तमादिदेवं गुणसन्निधानं सर्वोपदेष्टारमिताः शरण्यम्
To that primeval god, the abode of qualities, the teacher of all, the refuge of the infinite.
सच्चित्परानन्दघनस्वरुपं रुपादिहीनं प्रणताः स्म देवम्
We bow to the god whose nature is existence, consciousness, and supreme bliss, who is without form or attributes.
यज्ञाप्रियं यज्ञकरं विशुद्धं नताः स्म सर्वोत्तममव्ययं तम्
We bowed to that supreme, imperishable one, beloved of sacrifices, performer of sacrifices, purest of all.
चरितं तस्य राजर्षेर्देवानां संन्यवेदयत्
He revealed the deeds of that royal sage to the gods.
जगाम यत्र राजर्षिस्तपस्तपति नारद
Narada went to the place where the royal sage was practicing austerities.
प्रत्यक्षतामगात्तस्य राज्ञः सर्वजगद्गुरुः
The teacher of all worlds appeared before that king.
अतिसीपुष्पंसंकाशं स्फुरत्कुण्डलमण्डितम्
He was adorned with shining earrings, radiant as a fully blossomed flower.
श्रीवत्सकौस्तुमधरं वनमालाविभूषितम्
He wore the mark of Śrīvatsa and the Kaustubha gem, decorated with a garland of forest flowers.
ननाम दण्डवद्भूमौ भूपतिर्नम्रकन्धरः
The king, with bowed neck, prostrated himself on the ground.
कृष्ण कृष्णेति श्रीकृष्णेति समुच्चरन्
He repeatedly uttered 'Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa,' 'Śrī Kṛṣṇa.'
उवाच कृपयाविष्टो भगवान्भूतभावनः
The blessed creator of beings, filled with compassion, spoke.
आगमिष्यन्ति मल्लोकं तव पूर्वपितामहाः
Your forefathers will come to my world.
स्तुहि ते सकलं कामं सवै सद्यः करिष्यन्ति
Praise them; whatever you desire, they will immediately accomplish.
तस्मादाराधयेशानं स्तोत्रैः स्तुत्यं सुखप्रदम्
Therefore, worship the Lord with hymns; he is worthy of praise and grants happiness.
त्वया संपुजितो राजन्सद्यः श्रेयो विधास्यति
O king, being honored by you, he will at once bestow prosperity.
अन्तर्दधे मुनिश्रेष्ठ उत्तस्थौसो ऽपि भूपतिः
The foremost sage vanished, and the king also rose up.
भूपतिर्विस्मयं प्रात्पः किं करोमीति विस्मितः
The king was amazed and wondered, 'What should I do?'
सत्यमेतदिति व्यक्तं न चिन्तां कर्तुमर्हसि
This is certainly true; you should not entertain any doubt.
समस्तदेवताराजमस्तौषीद्भक्तितत्परः
Absorbed in devotion, he praised the Lord of all the gods.
प्रमाणागोचरं देवमीशानं प्रणवात्मकम्
He worshipped the Lord, the essence of Om, who is beyond the reach of proof.
विश्वरुपं विरुपाक्ष प्रणतो ऽस्म्युग्ररेतसम्
I bow to the universal form, O Virupaksha, the one of fierce seed.
समामनन्ति योगीन्द्रा स्तं वन्दे पुष्टिवर्धनम्
The lords of yoga proclaim him; I honor the one who increases strength.
नमो ऽस्तु नीलग्रीवाय पसूनां पतये नमः
Salutations to the blue-throated one, homage to the lord of beasts.
नमो ऽकल्पप्रकल्पाय भूतानां पतये नमः
Salutations to the one beyond creation and dissolution, homage to the lord of beings.
नमः कपालहस्ताय पाशमुद्गरधारिणे
Homage to the one with a skull in his hand, who holds the noose and club.
नमः पञ्चास्यदेवाय क्षेत्राणां पतये नमः
Homage to the five-faced god, homage to the lord of the fields.
