त्रिदशासनसंस्थायै तेजोवत्यै नमो ऽस्तु ते
Salutations to You who are seated among the gods, who are radiant with splendor.
नमस्ते विश्वमित्रायै रेवत्यै ते नमोनमः
Salutations to You, universal friend; repeated salutations to You, O Revati.
नमस्ते विश्वमुख्यायै नन्दिन्यै ते नमोनमः
Salutations to You, foremost in the universe; repeated salutations to You, O Nandini.
परावरगताद्यैयै तारायै ते नमोनमः
Repeated salutations to You who go beyond the highest and lowest, to You, O Tara.
शान्तायै ते प्रतिष्ठायै वरदायै नमोनमः
Salutations to You, embodiment of peace, foundation of all, and bestower of boons.
ब्रह्मगायै ब्रह्मदायै दुरितघ्न्यै नमोनमः
Salutations to You who move in Brahman, who bestow Brahman, who destroy all misfortune.
विलुषायै दुर्गहन्त्र्यै दक्षायै ते नमोनमः
Salutations to You, the destroyer of evil, the vanquisher of difficulties, the skillful one.
गङ्गा ममाग्रतो भूयाद्गङ्गा मे पार्श्वयोस्तथा
May Ganga be before me, may Ganga be at my sides as well.
आदौ त्वमन्ते मध्ये च सर्वा त्वं गाङ्गते शिवे
At the beginning, at the end, and in the middle, You are all, O Ganga, O auspicious one.
गङ्गे त्वं परमात्मा च शिवस्तुभ्यं नमोनमः
O Ganga, You are the Supreme Self; salutations again and again to You, O Shiva.
शृणोति श्रद्धया वापि कायवाचिकसंभवैः
Whoever hears this with faith, whether by body, speech, or mind,
रोगी प्रमुच्यते रोगान्मुच्येतापन्न आपदः
The sick are freed from diseases, and those in distress are released from calamities.
सर्वान्कामानवाप्नोति प्रेत्य ब्रह्मणि लीयते
One attains all desires and, after death, merges into Brahman.
नाग्निचौरभयं तत्र पापेभ्यो ऽपि भयं नहि
There is no fear of fire, thieves, or even of sins there.
जपंस्तु दशकृत्वश्च दरिद्रो वापि चाक्षमः
Even one who is poor or incapable should recite the mantra ten times.
पूर्वोक्तेन विधानेन फलं यत्परिकीर्तितम्
The result that has been described earlier is attained by following the prescribed method.
विधिर्यो विहितः सम्यक्सो ऽपि गङ्गाप्रपूजने
The rule that has been properly established for the worship of the Ganga applies here as well.
उमा यथा तथा गङ्गा चात्र भेदो न विद्यते
Just as with Uma, so too with Ganga; there is no difference in this regard.
लक्ष्मीगौर्यतरं यश्च प्रब्रूते मूढधीस्तु सः
Whoever claims Lakshmi is superior to Gauri is indeed of deluded mind.
धन्या देहं विमुञ्चन्ति हृदयस्थे जनार्दने
The blessed ones relinquish their bodies with Janardana abiding in their hearts.
ते विष्णुलोकं गच्छन्ति स्तूयमाना दिविस्थितैः
They go to the realm of Vishnu, praised by those dwelling in heaven.
स याति न पुनर्जन्म ब्रह्मसायुज्यमेति च
He attains union with Brahman and does not return to birth again.
सा गेतिस्त्यजतः प्राणान् गङ्गायां तु शरीरिणः
That is the path for one who gives up life in the Ganga while embodied.
सत्यमेव परं लोकमाप्नोति पितृभिः सह
He truly attains the supreme world together with his ancestors.
गतानि बहुजन्मानि यत्र यत्र मृतानि च
Wherever many births have occurred and wherever deaths have taken place,
अत्रदूरे समीपे च सदृशं योजनद्वयम्
Whether far or near, within a distance of two yojanas,
ज्ञानतो ऽज्ञानतो वापि कामतो ऽपि वा
Whether knowingly, unknowingly, or even out of desire,
प्राणेषूत्सृज्यमानेषु यो गङ्गां संस्मरेन्नरः
When life is departing, whoever remembers the Ganga,
स्पृशेद्वा पापशीलो ऽपि स वै याति परां गतिम्
Or even touches her, though sinful, he surely attains the highest state.
तस्मात्सुर्वान्प्रोह्य मुक्तिप्रदान्वै सेवेद्गङ्गामा शरीरस्य पातम्
Therefore, abandoning all gods, one should serve the Ganga, the bestower of liberation, until the fall of the body.
