दशप्रस्थां स्तिलान्दद्याद्दश विप्रेभ्य एव च
One should give ten measures of sesame to ten Brahmins.
मत्स्यकच्छपमण्डूकमरादिजलेचरान्
Fish, tortoise, frog, and other aquatic creatures.
गङ्गायां प्रक्षिपेत्पूर्व्वं मन्त्रेणैव तु मन्त्रवित्
The knower of mantras should first cast them into the Ganga with the mantra.
रथारूढप्रतिकृतिं गङ्गायास्तूत्तरामुखाम्
A representation of a chariot-rider, facing north, should be placed by the Ganga.
दुर्गाया रथयात्रास्ति तथैवात्रापि कारयेत्
Just as there is a chariot procession for Durga, so should it be performed here as well.
दशपापैर्वक्ष्यमाणैः सद्य एव विमुच्यते
One is immediately freed from the ten sins that will be described.
परदारोपसेवा च कायिकं त्रिबिधं स्मृतम्
Service to another's wife is considered a bodily sin of three kinds.
असंबद्धप्रलापश्च वाचिकं स्याच्चतुर्विधम्
Irrelevant speech is regarded as a verbal sin of four kinds.
वितथाभिनिवेशश्च मानसं त्रिविधं स्मृतम्
False conviction is considered a mental sin of three kinds.
मुच्यते नात्र संदेहो ब्रह्मणो वचनं यथा
There is no doubt that one is freed, just as declared by Brahma.
उद्धरत्येव संसारान्मन्त्रेणानेन पूजिता
When worshipped with this mantra, she surely lifts one from worldly existence.
इति मन्त्रेण यो मर्त्यो दिने तस्मिन्दिवानिशम्
Whoever recites this mantra day and night on that day.
उद्दरेद्दश पूर्वाणि पराणि च भवार्णवात्
He rescues ten previous and ten future generations from the ocean of worldly existence.
गङ्गाग्रे तद्दिने जप्यं विष्णुपूजां प्रवर्तयेत्
On that day, by the Ganga, one should perform the recitation and worship of Vishnu.
नमो ऽस्तु विष्णुरूपिण्यै गङ्गायै ते नमो नमः
Salutations to you, O Ganga, who bears the form of Vishnu; again and again, I bow to you.
सर्वस्य सर्वव्याधीनां भिषक्श्रेष्ठे नमो ऽस्तु ते
Salutations to you, best among physicians of all and of all diseases.
संसारविषनाशिन्यै जीवनायै नमोनमः

Salutations to You who move in Brahman, who bestow Brahman, who destroy all misfortune.
विलुषायै दुर्गहन्त्र्यै दक्षायै ते नमोनमः
Salutations to You, the destroyer of evil, the vanquisher of difficulties, the skillful one.
गङ्गा ममाग्रतो भूयाद्गङ्गा मे पार्श्वयोस्तथा
May Ganga be before me, may Ganga be at my sides as well.
आदौ त्वमन्ते मध्ये च सर्वा त्वं गाङ्गते शिवे
At the beginning, at the end, and in the middle, You are all, O Ganga, O auspicious one.
गङ्गे त्वं परमात्मा च शिवस्तुभ्यं नमोनमः
O Ganga, You are the Supreme Self; salutations again and again to You, O Shiva.
