कल्पकोटिसहस्राणि कल्पकोटिशतानि च
Hundreds of thousands of millions of kalpas, and hundreds of millions of kalpas—
ततो महीतलं प्राप्य राजा भवति धार्मिकः
Then, having attained the earth, he becomes a righteous king.
देहान्ते ज्ञानवान्भूत्वा शिवसायुज्यमाप्नुयात्
At the end of the body, having attained knowledge, one obtains union with Shiva.
गङ्गायां तु कृतं सर्वं कोटिकोटिगुणं भवेत्
Whatever is performed in the Ganga yields results multiplied by countless crores.
घृतधेनुं विधानेन तस्य पुण्यफलं शृणु
Hear now the merit gained by offering a ghee-cow according to the prescribed method.
सहस्रादित्यसंकाशः सर्वकामसमन्वितः
He becomes radiant like a thousand suns, endowed with all desired enjoyments.
स्वकीयपितृभिः सार्द्धं ब्रह्मलोके महीयते
He is honored in the world of Brahma together with his own ancestors.
अन्ते तु ब्रह्मविद्भूत्वा मोक्षमाप्नोत्यसंशयः
In the end, becoming a knower of Brahman, he attains liberation without doubt.
गोलोमसंख्यवर्षाणि स्वर्गलोके महीयते
He is honored in the heavenly realm for as many years as the number of hairs on a cow.
रत्नकाञ्चनभूपूर्णे शीलविद्यायशोन्विते
In a land filled with jewels and gold, endowed with virtue, knowledge, and fame.
मोक्षभागी भवेन्नृनं नात्रकार्या विचारणा
He becomes a recipient of liberation; for a man, there is no need for deliberation here.
नरकस्थान्पितॄन्सर्वान्स्वर्गं नयति वै तदा
He leads all his ancestors who are in hell to heaven at that time.
भूमिरेणुप्रमाणाब्दं ब्रह्मविष्णुशिवातिगः
For as many years as the dust on the earth, he surpasses Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva.
भेरीशङ्खादिनिर्घोषैर्गीतवादित्रनिःस्वनैः
With the sounds of drums, conches, and other instruments, with singing and music.
सर्वसौख्यान्यवाप्येह सर्वधर्मपरायणः
Having attained all happiness here, devoted to all righteous duties.
स्वर्गस्थितान्मोक्षयित्वा स्वयं ज्ञानी च मोहिनि
Having liberated those dwelling in heaven, he himself becomes wise, O Mohini.
परं वैराग्यमापन्नः परं ब्रह्माधि गच्छति
Having attained supreme detachment, he reaches the highest Brahman.
त्रिभागहीनं गोचर्म मानमाह विधिः स्वयम्
The rule itself declares that the measure of cowhide lacking three parts is valid.
ब्रह्मविष्णुशिवप्रीत्ये दुर्गाया भास्करस्य च
For the pleasure of Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, Durga, and the Sun.
तपोव्रतेषु पुण्येषु यत्फलं परिकीर्तितम्
Whatever fruit is proclaimed in austerities, vows, and meritorious deeds.
सूर्यकोटिप्रतीकाशे विमाने वैष्णवे पुरे
In a celestial palace shining like ten million suns, within the city of Viṣṇu,
भूमिरेण्वब्दसंख्याकं कालं स्थित्वा च तत्र सः
He remains there for a period measured by the number of dust particles on earth and drops in the ocean.
अक्षयायां तु यो देवि स्वर्णं षोडशमासिकम्
O Goddess, in the inexhaustible realm, one who donates gold for sixteen months—
अन्नदानाद्विष्णुलोकं शैवं वै तिलदानतः
By giving food, one attains Viṣṇu's world; by giving sesame, the realm of Śiva.
गान्धर्वं स्वर्णवासोभिः कीर्तिं कन्याप्रदानतः
By gifting golden garments, one attains the Gandharva world; by giving a maiden, fame.
गंमातीरे नरो यस्तु नानावृक्षैः समन्वितम्
If a man, on the riverbank, establishes a grove adorned with various trees—
कदलीनारिकेरैश्च कपित्थाशोकचंपकैः
With banana, coconut, wood-apple, ashoka, and campaka trees,
आम्रैस्तालैर्नागरङ्गैर्वृक्षैरन्यैश्च संयुतम्
With mango, palmyra, citron, and other kinds of trees as well,
निचितं कारयित्वैवमावासं पुष्पशोभितम्
And has such a dwelling constructed, resplendent with flowers,
प्रयच्छति तथा भक्त्या सर्वार्थं परिकल्प्य च
And offers it with devotion, having considered all its purposes,
