यत्र यत्र तु गच्छामि तत्र तत्र क्षिपन्ति माम्
Wherever I go, there they cast me away.
भवदाज्ञां समादाय गता रुक्मविभूषणम्
Having received your command, I departed adorned with golden ornaments.
क्लेशयित्वा तु भर्तारं पुत्रं हत्वा वरासिना
After tormenting my husband, I killed my son with a splendid sword.
न गतिर्विद्यते देव पापाया मम सांप्रतम्
O god, now there is no refuge for me, a sinner.
विप्रवाक्यहताना च दग्धानां चित्रभानुना
Of those who have been ruined by the words of the Brahmins and burned by the radiant sun,
शतह्रदाविपन्नानां मुक्तिदा स्वर्णदी पितः
For those who have fallen into a hundred lakes, the golden river grants liberation, O father.
प्रसादयसि मत्प्रीत्या तर्हि मे विहिता गतिः
You please me by your devotion; thus, my ordained path is fulfilled.
शिवेन्द्रधर्मसूर्याग्निदेवेशैर्मुनिभिर्युतः
Surrounded by Shiva, Indra, Dharma, Surya, Agni, the lord of gods, and sages,
तत्र गत्वा महीपाल ब्रह्मा देवादिभिर्वृतः
There, having arrived, O king, Brahma is attended by the gods and others.
भूप रुद्रादिदेवैस्तु पूज्यो मान्यः पितामहः
O king, Brahma, the grandfather, is honored and revered by Rudra and the other gods.
कार्ये महति संप्राप्ते ह्यसाध्ये भुवनत्रये
When a great task arises, impossible in the three worlds,
स द्विजो वेदवेदाङ्गपरगस्तपसि स्थितः
That twice-born, accomplished in the Vedas and their branches, steadfast in austerity,
समुत्थाय नमश्चक्रे ब्रह्माणं तान्मुनीन्सुरान्
Having risen, he made obeisance to Brahma, those sages, and the gods.
ततः प्रसन्नो भगवान् लोककर्त्ता जगद्गुरुः
Then the blessed Lord, creator of the worlds, teacher of the universe, became pleased.
तात विप्र सदाचार परलोकोपकारक
O dear Brahmin, virtuous conduct is beneficial for the other world.
मया संप्रेषिता ब्रह्मन् रुक्माङ्गदविमोहने
By me, O Brahmin, you have been sent to dispel the delusion of Rukmāṅgada.
वैकुण्ठं संकुलं प्रेक्ष्य लोकैः सर्वैर्नि राकुलैः
Beholding Vaikuntha crowded with all worlds, free from demons,
निशामय धरादेव यद्ब्रवीमि तवाग्रतः
O lord of the earth, listen to what I say before you.
अनया निकषाश्याङ्ग्या परीक्ष्य स्वर्णभूषणः
By this touchstone, having tested, the golden ornament is proven.
राज्ञाप्रहतया भक्त्या हरिवासरपालनात्
By the devotion of the king, and by observing the day of Hari,
देवापकारो विप्रर्षे न क्षमो बाहुजन्मना
O sage among Brahmins, harm to the gods is not permitted even in many lifetimes.
भूसुराणां विशेषेणं यातास्ते तत्सहायकाः
Especially among the Brahmins, those who have gone are their helpers.
तत्प्रापितं भूसुर भूपभर्तुर्निजस्य पुत्रस्य तथा सपत्न्याः
O Brahmin, that which was obtained was given to the king, to his own son, and also to his co-wife.
तत्पापवेगेन बभूव विद्रुता भस्मावशेषा तव शापदग्धा
By the force of that sin, she became scattered, reduced to ashes, burned by your curse.
न स्वार्थकामा लभते ऽवमानं कथं द्विजातो ऽपकृतिं क्षमस्व
One who desires only personal gain does not attain respect; O twice-born, forgive the offense.
यस्मिन्कृते ब्राह्मण मोहिनीयं बुद्धिं त्यजेत्क्रूरतरां त्वयीज्ये
Because of whom, O Brahmin, one should abandon a deluded mind, more cruel than yours.
उवाच देवं त्रिदशाधिनाथं विमोहिनीदेहकृतं द्विजेन्द्रः
The chief among Brahmins spoke to the lord of the gods, who had created the body of delusion.
न लोकेषु स्थितिस्तस्मात्प्राणिभिः संकुलेषु च
Therefore, there is no permanence in the worlds, nor among the beings crowded therein.
तद्दास्यमि तव प्रीत्या त्वं हि पूज्यतरो मम
I shall give that to you out of affection, for you are most worthy of my reverence.
देवकार्यं च भविता मोहिनीकृतत्यमेव च
The task of the gods will be accomplished, and the delusion will be dispelled.
