O king, the celestial maidens sang a most delightful song and danced with joy.
Having entered the body of Hari, the king, along with his wife and son, was cleansed of all his faults.
Frightened, he again approached his grandfather and, weeping, spoke to the four-faced god.
Command me, father, and I will do something else; let there be no punishment for me.
Mohinī has become fruitless, like a barren woman in childbirth.
People go to Vaikuṇṭha, but no one approaches me.
Yet, even so, the minds of all beings do not change.
Those whose sins are erased, O Ancestor, attain the highest realm.
He does not approach your presence, nor does he enjoy what is despised by the world.
Hearing the words of the son of the sun, the lotus-seated one spoke.
When Mohinī is awakened, O Sun, we shall act.
Then all the hosts of gods, led by Śatakratu, O king,
Assembled, O ruler of the earth, to awaken that woman.
Like a river deprived of radiance, joyless, and dry of water.
Like a mortal defeated, like a flower without fragrance.
Like a field where the rice is gone, barren.
Like a churn after the butter has been taken out, O lord of the earth.
Like a young woman bereft of her protector, like offspring without grain.
Like the earth without a ruler, like a king without counsel.
Like a pot without water, like a cowherd sunk in mud.
Like a physician whose practice is broken, like a tree with a broken branch.
Like a seven-flamed fire without smoke, like the sun without rays.
Like a lover unsatisfied by his beloved, and a serpent deprived of its poison.
Like a garland with its head lost, like a mountain devoid of minerals.
Just as a Sāma hymn without melody, or a lake without lotuses—
So is knowledge joined with possessiveness, or a man without his essential nature.
In the same way, the gods saw Mohinī deprived of her radiance.
With harsh words of rebuke, accompanied by the crime of killing a son—
The assembled gods spoke fiercely of keeping one's own word.
For the devotees of Mādhava, there is no loss of honor.
