अन्तर्द्धानगतस्तस्थौ व्योम्नि धैर्यावलोककः
He, having become invisible, stood in the sky, observing with steadfastness.
धर्माङ्गदस्य वीरस्य तस्य रुक्माङ्गदस्य तु
Of Dharmāṅgada, the heroic one, and of that Rukmāṅgada,
वचने भुङ्क्ष्व भुङ्क्ष्वेति मोहिन्या व्याहृते तदा
At that moment, Mohinī spoke, 'Eat, eat,' in accordance with her words.
तं दृष्ट्वा खङ्गहस्तं तु पितरं धर्म्मंभूषणः
Seeing his father with sword in hand, the ornament of righteousness,
वदनं प्रेक्ष्य चादीनं जनन्या नृपपुङ्गवः
and beholding the distressed face of his mother, the foremost among kings,
कंबुग्रीवां समानां तु सुवर्णा सुकोमलाम्
with a neck like a conch, equal in beauty, golden and very soft,
पितृभक्त्या युतेनैव मातृभक्त्याधिकेन वै
endowed with devotion to his father, and even greater devotion to his mother,
गृहीतखङ्गे जगदीशनाथे चचाल पृथ्वीं सनगा समग्रा
when the lord of the world grasped his sword, the entire earth with its mountains trembled.
निपेतुरुल्काः शतशो धरायां निर्घातयुक्ताः सतडित्खमध्यात्
Hundreds of meteors, accompanied by thunder and lightning, fell from the sky to the earth.
निरर्थकं जन्म ममाधुनाभूत्कृतं तु दैवेन दजगद्विधायिना
Now my life has become meaningless, brought about by fate, the creator of the world.
हरेर्दिने पापभयापहे तु तृणैः समाहं भविता त्रिविष्टपे
On the day of Hari, which removes the fear of sin, I shall become as insignificant as grass in heaven.
सत्वाधिको यास्यति मोक्षमार्गं गन्तास्मि पाप नरकं सुदारुणम्
He who is endowed with virtue will attain the path of liberation, but I, a sinner, shall go to the dreadful hell.
मोहिनी मोहसंयुक्ता पपात धरणीतले
Mohinī, overcome by delusion, fell to the ground.
ग्रीवायाश्छेदनार्थाय वृषाङ्गदसुतस्य तु
It was for the purpose of cutting off the neck of Vṛṣāṅgada's son.
प्रचिच्छिदे यावदतीव हर्षाद्धैर्यान्वितो रुक्मविभूषणो ऽसौ
As he, adorned with golden ornaments and filled with courage, was about to strike, he did so with great joy.
तुष्टो ऽस्मि तुष्टो ऽस्मि न संशयो ऽत्र गच्छस्व लोकं मम लोकनाथ
I am pleased, I am pleased—there is no doubt about this; go to my world, O lord of people.
त्रैलोक्यपूज्यां विमलां च शुक्लां कृत्वा पदं मूर्ध्नि यमस्य भूप
Having made her pure, spotless, and revered in the three worlds, he placed her at the head of Yama, O king.
संस्पृष्टमात्रो विरजा बभूव प्रियासमेतस्तनयेन युक्तः
As soon as he was touched, he became free from stain, united with his beloved wife and son.
विहाय लक्ष्मीमवनीप्रसूतां विहाय दासीःसुधनं स कोशम्
He abandoned the wealth born of the earth, the maidservants, Sudhana, and the treasury.
जगाम देहं मधुसूदनस्य ततोंऽबरात्पुष्पचयः पपात
He went to the body of Madhusūdana, and then a shower of flowers fell from the sky.
राजन् जगुर्गीतमतीव रम्यं देवाङ्गनाः संननृतुर्मुदान्विताः
O king, the celestial maidens sang a most delightful song and danced with joy.
हरेस्तनौ भूमिपतिं प्रविष्टं सदारपुत्रं स्वलिपिं प्रमार्ज्य
Having entered the body of Hari, the king, along with his wife and son, was cleansed of all his faults.
भीतः पुनः प्राप्य पितामहान्तिकं प्रोवाच देवं चतुराननं रुदन्
Frightened, he again approached his grandfather and, weeping, spoke to the four-faced god.
विधेहि चान्यत्प्रकरोमि तात निदेशनं मास्तु मदीय दण्डम्
Command me, father, and I will do something else; let there be no punishment for me.
मोहिनी निष्फला जाता वन्ध्या स्त्री जनने यथा
Mohinī has become fruitless, like a barren woman in childbirth.
लोकः प्रयाति वैकुंण्ठं न मां कश्चित्प्रपद्यते
People go to Vaikuṇṭha, but no one approaches me.
तथापि सर्वभूतानां न बुद्धिः परिवर्तते
Yet, even so, the minds of all beings do not change.
प्रयान्ति परमं लोकं लुप्तपापाः पितामह
Those whose sins are erased, O Ancestor, attain the highest realm.
नायाति तव सामीप्यं न भुङ्क्ते लोकगर्हिता
He does not approach your presence, nor does he enjoy what is despised by the world.
रविपुत्रवचः श्रुत्वा प्रोवाच कमलासनः
Hearing the words of the son of the sun, the lotus-seated one spoke.
