She came here, O king, to your palace, to take me away.
Therefore, honor me properly, together with my elder sister.
By this, having sat together on one seat, he has become my husband.

For the sake of whom your beloved was previously slain by you,
She desires this man as her husband, whom you have now made her husband.
Approve, O bright-eyed one, to assist my daughter; when the king's words were accepted, the demoness was pleased.
Abandoning rivalry, protect my daughter.
You are indeed the mistress of the city and the realm—there is no doubt.
Hearing these words of Sudyumna, the night-wandering woman
Spoke to the protector of the land, having resolved to give her away.
Therefore, let this woman be the second wife of this twice-born man.
Together with all the citizens, in the bright fortnight of Phalguna,
With abundant singing and music, accompanied by actors and dancers,
Thus I always act for your welfare, indeed, I am ever your benefactor.
Hearing her words, King Sudyumna at that time
O best of twice-born, he took the auspicious royal maiden according to the prescribed rites.
By the words of the rakshasi, he married the king’s daughter here.
Mounting the rakshasi, who had taken the form of an elephant, in a mere moment,
Endowed with wealth and jewels, accompanied by his two wives,
He was repeatedly reproached with harsh words that pierced to the core.
He whom you formerly abandoned, destitute and utterly miserable,
O fortunate one, it is said that what is gained by a beloved is lasting.
Even entering his house in the future will be difficult for him.
For one of bad conduct, happiness will never arise.
He whose heart is devoid of affection for you will never unite with you.
The union of a husband and wife in this world brings about great distress when estranged.
