Standing at the door, he repeatedly said, 'O Viṣṇu, give me alms.'
Saying, 'Take the alms,' he extended his right hand.
With his trident, O best of twice-born, he struck the right hand.
Twelve streams, variegated in color, flowed forth.
The second stream entered his mouth, and then the third, which was of milk.
For three years, Hara properly observed those streams.
Going there, Hara became motionless and fell down at that place.
When three years had passed there, his body, half-wounded, emerged.
Then, pleased, the Lord of the universe granted him a boon.
Then, having bowed to Hari and praised him in many ways,
Dhūrjaṭi entered the boundary of Avimukta, having looked around.
Becoming intent, he praised Mādhava, the venerable Lord.
O slayer of Madhu, O Narasiṃha, clad in yellow, enthroned on Garuḍa, Mādhava, primeval Lord,
O Lord of lotus-eyed ones, ocean of compassion for the best of gods, destroyer of suffering, mighty Lord, supreme ruler,
O Kūrma, born of Kaśyapa, whose pair of lotus feet remove the taint of the Kali age, who grants the self to those who praise you,
Destroyer of the fear of worldly existence, obedient to devotees, protector of the cowherds, savior of those who bow, whose name is renowned for virtue,
Source of lotuses, dwelling in the heart of Lakṣmī, agitator of the desires of beloved ones, worshipped by the lords of the three worlds,
Bearer of the plough, remover of misfortune, whom I bow to, pervading the three guṇas, skillful in the three times, lord of the universe,
With eyes like the sun and moon, of bold actions, disperser of darkness, resembling a fresh rain cloud, O Meṣa,
Destroyer of Agha, Baka, Vṛṣa, Keśi, Pūtanā, who shattered the ten-headed and three-headed foes,
O Lord whose lotus feet are the raft for crossing worldly existence, whose majesty is manifest, ancient one, with arms full and complete,
I, afflicted by sin, have sought refuge in your pair of feet, O bestower of boons, most excellent; protect me.
For me, there is no other giver of liberation than the Ancient Person; by this prayer, O venerable one, be gracious.
Suddenly Mādhava, the lover of devotees, appeared.
Rising again, the best of Brāhmaṇas bowed with joined palms.
Choose a boon; I am pleased by your hymn and will grant it.
Afflicted in spirit, he addressed Hari, the giver of enjoyment and liberation, thus:
If the sin of killing a Brāhmaṇa is seen outside the boundary of your sacred field,
When I depart, the sin of killing a Brāhmaṇa will return to me.
Having said this, the Lord of gods, Vṛṣadhvaja, became silent.
