द्वाराणि सध्वान्तनिशासु भूप गुप्तानि कुर्वन्ति न दस्यु भीताः
O king, at night the doors remained open and guarded, for people were not afraid of thieves.
क्षीरं क्षरन्त्यो घटवत्सुभूरिशो वत्सप्रियाः शान्तिकराश्च गावः
Cows, fond of their calves and bringing peace, yielded abundant milk like overflowing jars.
मातुः पयोभिः शिशवः सुपुष्टा भर्तुः प्रयोगैः प्रमदाः सुपुष्टाः
Children were well-nourished by their mothers’ milk, and women flourished through the attentions of their husbands.
संरक्ष्यमाणे हि नृपात्मजेन जगाम कालः सुखहे तुभूतः
Indeed, while the king’s son protected the realm, time passed in great happiness.
पृथ्वीपतिश्चातिविमोहितश्च विमोहिनीचेष्टितसौख्ययुक्तः
The lord of the earth became exceedingly enchanted, absorbed in the pleasures brought by the enchantress’s actions.
अतीव मुग्धः सुरतेन तस्या विरञ्चिपुत्र्याः शुभचेष्टितायाः पक्षेषु शुक्लेष्विव शीतभानुर्न क्षीयते संततसेवनेन
Utterly captivated by union with her—the daughter of Brahmā, whose conduct was auspicious—he, like the moon in the bright fortnight, did not wane through constant enjoyment.
पिबंस्तु पानं सुमनोहरं हि शृण्वंस्तु गीतं सुपदप्रयुक्तम्
Drinking delightful wine and listening to songs beautifully composed,
विमर्द्दमानस्तु करेण तुङ्गौ सुखेन पीनौ पिशितोपरूढौ
He pressed with his hand her high, full, and fleshy breasts with pleasure.
वलित्रयं नातिविवर्द्धमानं मनोहरं लोमशराजिशोभम्
The three lines, not overly pronounced, adorned with charming rows of hair, enhanced her beauty.
नहीदृशं चारुतरं नितान्तं नितंबिनीनां मनसो ऽभिरामम्
Indeed, there is nothing more beautiful and pleasing to the mind among women with slender waists.
मृगेन्द्रशत्रोःकरसन्निकाशे जङ्घे विलोमे द्रुतकाञ्चनाभे
Her thighs, resembling the hands of the enemy of the lion, are smooth and radiant like swiftly flowing gold.
आपादशीर्षं किल तत्स्वरूपं संपश्यतच्चारुविशालनेत्र्याः
Indeed, from foot to head, that form is seen, and with her beautiful, wide eyes, she gazes.
अहो सुतन्वी विपुलेक्षणेयं याचिष्यते यच्च तदेव देयम्
Ah, this slender woman with large eyes—whatever she requests, that alone should be given.
सुदुर्लभं देयमदेयमन्यैर्दास्यामि चास्या यदि वाप्यदेयम्
What is exceedingly rare and not given by others, I will give to her, or if it cannot be given, so be it.
दास्यामि चेदं न विचारयिष्ये पुत्रं विना नास्ति नदेयमस्याः
If I give this, I will not deliberate; without a son, nothing should be given to her.
त्रीणि पञ्च च वर्षाणि व्यतीतानि सुखेन वै
Three and five years have passed in happiness.
जित्वा विद्याधरान्पञ्च मलये पर्वतोत्तमे
Having conquered five Vidyādharas on the excellent mountain Malaya,
एकं काञ्चनदातारं कोटिकोटिगुणं शुभम्
One, the giver of gold, is auspicious a hundred million times over.
तृतीयममृतस्रावि पुनर्यौवनकारकम्
The third, which pours out nectar, again brings youthfulness.
पञ्चमं व्योभगतिदं त्रैलोक्यपरिसर्पणम्
The fifth grants the power to traverse the sky, moving throughout the three worlds.
स्त्रीभिर्विद्याधराणां च साश्रुनेत्राभिरावृतः
Surrounded by women and Vidyādharas, their eyes filled with tears,
मणीन्पञ्च समर्प्याथ पादयोः प्राह संनतः
He offered five jewels at her feet and spoke, bowing low.
मलये भूधरश्रेष्ठे वैष्णवास्त्रेण भूपते
On Malaya, the best of mountains, O king, with a Vaiṣṇava weapon,
मणीन्प्रयच्छ मोहिन्यै भुजभूषणहेतवे
Give the jewels to Mohinī for the purpose of adorning her arms.
जीर्णदन्ताः पुनर्बाला भवन्ति मणिधारणात्
Those with worn teeth become youthful again by wearing the jewel.
दातारो मासयुद्धेन साधितास्तव तेजसा
The donors, accomplished by a month's battle, have been subdued by your brilliance.
करदानिसमस्तानि कृतानि तव तेजसा
All the tributes and taxes have been accomplished by your brilliance.
जिता भोगवती तात मया नागसमावृता
O dear one, Bhogavatī, filled with Nāgas, has been conquered by me.
तत्रापि हाररत्नानि सुबहून्याहृतानि च
There too, many necklaces and gems were brought forth.
तान्निर्जित्यं च कन्यानां सुरूपाणां सुवर्चसाम्
Having conquered them, I also won maidens of excellent beauty and radiance.
