He attained incomparable joy and addressed Dharmāṅgada:
Having destroyed the wicked at the outset, ever vigilant and always prepared,
Always endowed with awareness, ever devoted to commerce,
Always free from crookedness, ever engaged in good conduct,
Distrust of all rulers is praised everywhere,
You should draw in wealth as the bee draws nectar from flowers,
Through you, my son, youth has come again here,
Today, uniting you happily, I will relinquish to you the burden of the earth with its seven oceans and islands,
If the father is old, burdened with debts, a worn-out twice-born with white hair,
Abandoning the gods for my sake, struck by Love's arrows, with beautiful eyes,
He remained hidden in delightful, divine forest streams and on riverbanks,
For her sake, even the wise became deluded, just as the lords of the earth did for Lakṣmī.
That prince, the joy of kings, bestowed upon him abundant wealth for enjoyment.
Then, for the happiness of Matsyadhvaja who was afflicted, his son undertook the protection of the realm.
O king, while he thus moved about the earth, no multitude of people engaged in wicked thoughts.
Cows gave milk filling jars, richer than ghee, and as sweet as sugar.
No one among the people coveted another’s wealth, and wives did not speak harsh words to their husbands.
Indeed, O best of twice-born, people abided by the teachings of the Brahmins, practicing the duties prescribed in the Vedas.
Wealth, when enjoyed with respect, does not diminish even when shared by those who delight in pleasures.
The entire world became virtuous when Dharmāṅgada took up the task of protection.
O king, at night the doors remained open and guarded, for people were not afraid of thieves.
Cows, fond of their calves and bringing peace, yielded abundant milk like overflowing jars.
Children were well-nourished by their mothers’ milk, and women flourished through the attentions of their husbands.
Indeed, while the king’s son protected the realm, time passed in great happiness.
The lord of the earth became exceedingly enchanted, absorbed in the pleasures brought by the enchantress’s actions.
Utterly captivated by union with her—the daughter of Brahmā, whose conduct was auspicious—he, like the moon in the bright fortnight, did not wane through constant enjoyment.
Drinking delightful wine and listening to songs beautifully composed,
He pressed with his hand her high, full, and fleshy breasts with pleasure.
The three lines, not overly pronounced, adorned with charming rows of hair, enhanced her beauty.
Indeed, there is nothing more beautiful and pleasing to the mind among women with slender waists.
