Opening his eyes, O King, which resembled lotus petals, he spoke thus.
By me, O maiden, many times have faces like the full moon been seen.
Yet the form you possess bewilders the world.
O goddess, I am enchanted by your radiance, though you have spoken no word.
There is nothing I would not give, even in all three worlds, for one whose mind is bound by love for you.
O beautiful one, with full breasts, a body adorned like the sky, without blemish, and gentle in nature.
With a girdled waist, filled with elephants and horses, pleasing to ministers, and surrounded by cities.
What need is there for wealth or gems? Be gracious to me, O enchantress.
She spoke, smiling, and then raised the king.
Whatever I command at the appointed time, that must be done without hesitation.
O goddess, whatever pleases you, I shall fulfill that promise.
My body has reached a state of distress without union with you.
O King, by what means may I have confidence in your words?
You will not speak falsehood at the proper time; this worldly path has been undertaken.
The king, with a mind greatly pleased, spoke to her.
Even in your own amusements, O bestower of boons, at no time—
For this right hand of mine, adorned with merit, has indeed been given.
All this, O slender-thighed one, is yours, if only you would act according to my word.
Because of your beauty, a sudden agitation has arisen in me.
A son, Dharmāṅgada by name, has been born to me from the lineage of Ikṣvāku.
Then, in the forest, I beheld the delightful hermitage of Vāmadeva.
Having mounted the best of vehicles, I came to see Mandara.
A song, issuing from your lips, reached my ears.
O beautiful-eyed one, you came into my line of sight.
Now, endowed with awareness, I am revived by the nectar of your words.
By giving a reply, you ought to show your favor.
O king, I have come here, born from Brahmā, for your sake.
Having abandoned all the gods, headed by Viśvambhara,
Honoring the lord of gods, Śaṅkara, by offering song as a gift,
O king, the giving of song surpasses all other gifts, for it grants endless attainment.
