यो न वाक्याद्विचलते सहैव हि पितुर्गृहे
He never deviates from his father's words, always remaining in his father's house.
शतानि कनकाभासे त्वविशेषेण पश्यति
He sees hundreds of golden-hued women, without distinction.
समीपं गच्छ चार्वङ्गि मन्दरे पर्वतोत्तमे
Go near, O graceful-limbed one, to Mandara, the best of mountains.
तव गीतेन चार्वङ्गि मोहितो ऽश्वं विहाय चकत
O graceful-limbed one, enchanted by your song, he abandoned his horse and wandered.
तत्र देवि त्वयावाच्यं मिलित्वा भूभुजा त्विह
There, O goddess, you must speak with the king after meeting him here.
यद्ब्रवीमि ह्यहं नाथ तत्कार्यं हि त्वया ध्रुवम्
Whatever I tell you, O lord, that must certainly be done by you.
यतस्तं शपथैर्धृत्वा दक्षिणेन करेण वै
Therefore, having bound him with oaths, take his right hand.
सुरते तव चार्वङ्गि यदा मुग्धो हि लक्ष्यते
O graceful-limbed one, when he appears bewildered in your embrace.
यस्त्वया शपथो राजन्कृतो मद्वाक्यपालने
O King, the oath you made was to uphold my words.
एवमुक्ते त्वया मुग्धो राजा वै सत्यगौरवात्
When you spoke thus, the king, innocent, acted out of reverence for truth.
एवमुक्ते तु वचने त्वया वाच्यो वरानने
When such words are spoken by you, O beautiful one, you must be addressed accordingly.
नोपवासस्त्वया कार्यो जातु वै हरिवासरे
You must never observe a fast on the day sacred to Hari.
सुमुग्धां यौवनोपेतां स्वभार्यां यो न सेवते
He who does not approach his own wife, endowed with youth and beauty,
त्रिरात्रमपविद्धाहं त्वया भूप उपोषणात्
O King, I have been neglected by you for three nights due to your fasting.
श्राद्धकाले तु संप्राप्ते उपाविष्टैर्द्विजैः किल
When the time for śrāddha arrives and the twice-born are seated,
एवं संबोध्यमानो ऽपि यदा राजा वचस्तव
Even when thus addressed, if the king does not heed your words,
यदि न त्यजसे राजन्नुपवासं हरेर्दिने
If you do not abandon fasting on the day of Hari, O King,
धर्माङ्गदस्य राजेन्द्र ममोत्संगेक्षिप स्वयम्
O King, cast me yourself into the lap of Dharmāṅgada.
धर्मक्षीणो भवान् गन्ता नरके नात्र संशयः
You, depleted of righteousness, will go to hell; there is no doubt of this.
संगृह्य वाक्यं वसुधामराणां सम्भोक्ष्यते माधववासंरे ऽसौ
Having accepted the words of the lords of the earth, he will enjoy the abode of Mādhava.
लिपिप्रमाणं नरकाधिवासी भविष्यते साधु कृतं त्वया हि
According to the written record, the inhabitant of hell will be; what you have done is indeed good.
निःशेषामरपूज्यं व्रजति पदं पद्मनाभस्य
He attains the supreme abode of Padmanābha, worshipped by all the immortals.
उवाच नाम मेदेहि येन गच्छामि मन्दिरम्
He said: Tell me the name by which I may go to the temple.
नाम पापहरं प्रोक्तं तत्कुरुष्व कुशध्वज
The name spoken is said to remove sin; do this, O Kuśadhvaja.
मोहिनी नाम ते देवि सगुणं हि भविष्यति
O goddess, Mohinī is your name; it will indeed be with qualities.
यदि प्राप्नोति वै सुभ्रु त्वत्संपर्कं सुखावहम्
If, O beautiful-browed one, he attains contact with you, it will bring happiness.
वीक्ष्यमाणामरैर्मार्गे प्रतस्थे मन्दराचलम्
As the gods looked on, she set out along the path toward Mount Mandara.
यस्य संवेष्टने नागो वासुकिर्नहि पूर्यते
Even the great serpent Vāsuki could not encircle its base.
षड्लक्षयोजनः सिंधुर्यस्यासौ गह्वरो भवेत्
Its cavern is such that an elephant six hundred thousand yojanas long could be contained within.
पतता येन राजेन्द्र सिंधोर्गुह्यं प्रदर्शितम्
O king, by falling within it, the secret heart of the ocean was revealed.
