वासोभिर्द्विजदांपत्यं पूजयित्वा समर्पयेत्
After honoring the Brahmin couple with garments, he should present them.
यः कुर्याद्विधिनानेन मदनद्वादशीव्रतम्
Whoever performs the Madanadvadashi vow in this manner—
अस्यामेव समुद्दिष्टं भर्तृद्वादशिकाव्रतम्
Here itself is described the Bhartṛdvādaśikā vow.
संस्थाप्य मण्डपं पुष्पैस्तदुपर्प्युपकल्पयेत्
He should set up a pavilion and adorn it with flowers.
नृत्यवादित्रगीताद्यैस्ततः प्रातः परे ऽहनि
Then, on the next morning, with dance, instrumental music, and songs—
द्विजान्संभोज्य विसृजद्दक्षिणाभिः प्रतोषितान्
He should feed the Brahmins, and after satisfying them with gifts, let them go.
सप्तजन्मसु भुङ्क्ते च भोगान् लोकद्वयेप्सितान्
He enjoys the desired pleasures of both worlds for seven lifetimes.
संपूज्य माधवं भक्त्या गन्धाद्यैरुपचारकैः
Having worshipped Mādhava with devotion, with offerings such as fragrances and others—
विप्राय दद्याद्विधिवन्माधवः प्रीयतामिति
He should give to a Brahmin, according to rule: 'May Mādhava be pleased.'
गन्धाद्यैर्मधुरान्नाढ्यं करक विनिवेदयेत्
He should offer to the deity, with fragrances and other items, a vessel filled with sweet foods.
व्रतेनानेन संतुष्टो देवदेवस्त्रिविक्रमः
By this vow, the god of gods, Trivikrama, is satisfied.
आषाढशुक्लद्वादश्यां द्विजान्द्वादश भोजयेत्
On the twelfth day of the bright fortnight of Āṣāḍha, he should feed twelve Brahmins.
तभ्यो वासांसि दण्डांश्च ब्रह्मसूत्राणि मुद्रिकाः
To them, offer garments, staffs, sacred threads, and rings.
द्वादश्यां तु नभःशुक्ले श्रीधरं पूजयेद्व्रती
On the twelfth day of the bright fortnight of Nabhas, the votary should worship Śrīdhara.
संभोज्य दक्षिणा रौप्यां दत्वा नत्वा विसर्ज्जयेत्
After feeding them, give a silver gift, bow, and dismiss them.
द्वादश्यां नभस्यशुक्ले व्रती संपूज्य वामनम्
On the twelfth day of the bright fortnight of Nabhas, the votary should worship Vāmana.
सौवर्णी दक्षिणां दत्वा विष्णुप्रीतिकरो भवेत्
By giving a golden gift, one becomes pleasing to Viṣṇu.
गन्धाद्यैरुपचारैस्तु तदग्रे भोजयेद्द्विजान्
With offerings such as incense and others, feed the Brāhmaṇas in front of that deity.
व्रतेनैतेन संतुष्टः पद्मनाभो द्विजोत्तम
Padmanābha, O best of Brāhmaṇas, is satisfied by this vow.
कार्तिके कृष्णपक्षे तु गोवत्सद्वादशीव्रतम्
In the dark fortnight of Kārtika, observe the vow of Govatsa-Dvādaśī.
चन्दनाद्यैस्तथा पुष्पमालाभिः प्रार्च्य ताम्रके
Worship it with sandalwood and flower garlands, and offer at the copper vessel.
प्रदद्यात्पादमूले ऽस्या मन्त्रेणानेन नारद
Place it at her feet, O Nārada, with this mantra.
सर्वदेवमये देवि सर्वदेवैरलङ्कृते
O goddess, filled with all the gods, adorned by all the gods.
ततो माषादिसंसिद्धान्वटकांश्च निवेदयेत्
Then offer balls of food prepared from black gram and similar ingredients.
सुरभि त्वं जगन्माता नित्यं विष्णुपदे स्थिता
O Surabhi, you are the mother of the world, always established at Viṣṇu's feet.
सर्वदेवमये देवि सर्वदेवैरलङ्कृते
O goddess, filled with all the gods, adorned by all the gods.
तद्दिने तैलपक्वं च स्थालीपक्वं द्विजोत्तम
On that day, O best of Brāhmaṇas, offer food cooked in oil and in a pot.
द्वादश्यामूर्जशुक्लायां देवं दामोदरं द्विज
On the twelfth day of the bright fortnight of Ūrja, worship the god Dāmodara, O Brāhmaṇa.
तदग्रे भोजयेद्विप्रान्पक्वान्नेनार्कसंख्यकान्
In front of him, feed Brāhmaṇas with cooked rice equal to the number of suns.
सपूगमोदकस्वर्णांस्तेभ्यः प्रीत्या समर्पयेत्
With devotion, offer them pūga, modaka, and gold.
