तेजोराजो ऽथ वह्निस्तं नाशयत्वखिलेष्टदः
Then may Tejoraja and Agni destroy him who grants all desires.
तं यमः प्रेतराजो वै नाशयत्वखिलेष्टदः
May Yama, king of the departed, destroy him who grants all desires.
रक्षोराजो नैरृतिस्तं नाशयत्वखिलेष्टदः
May Nairrita, king of the demons, destroy him who grants all desires.
यादः पतिस्तं वरुणो नाशयत्वखिलेष्टदः
May Varuna, lord of the aquatic beings, destroy him who grants all desires.
वायुस्तं मरुतां राजो नाशयत्वखिलेष्टदः
May Vayu, king of the Maruts, destroy him who grants all desires.
सोमस्तमृक्षयक्षेशो नाशयत्वखिलेष्टदः
May Soma, lord of the stars and yakshas, destroy him who grants all desires.
ईशानो भूतनाथस्तं नाशयत्वखिलेष्टदः
May Ishana, lord of beings, destroy him who grants all desires.
ब्रह्मा प्रजापतीशस्तं नाशयत्वखिलेष्टदः
May Brahma, lord of progenitors, destroy him who grants all desires.
अनन्तो नागराजस्तं नाशयत्वखिलेष्टदः
May Ananta, king of serpents, destroy him who grants all desires.
क्षेत्रपालाय तद्बाह्ये क्षिपेद्बलिमतन्द्रितः
With unwavering strength, he should cast it outside for the guardian of the field.
गीतैः सुमङ्गलप्रायैः स्तवपाठैर्जपादिभिः
With auspicious songs, hymns, recitations, and japa, he should proceed.
द्वादशाभ्यर्च्य संभोज्य शक्तितो दक्षिणां ददेत्
After worshipping and honoring the twelve, he should give gifts according to his ability.
युगं स्वर्गसुखं भुक्त्वा सार्वभौमो नृपो भवेत्
Having enjoyed heavenly pleasures for an age, the king becomes sovereign over all.
गन्धाद्यैरर्चयेद्विप्रान् दश तच्चरणोदकम्
He should worship ten brahmins with fragrances and other offerings, and their foot-water.
एतत्कृत्वा व्रतं विप्र ह्यारोग्यं प्राप्य भूतले
Having performed this vow, O brahmin, one attains health upon the earth.
पौषे दशम्यां शुक्लायां विश्वेदेवान् समर्चयेत्
On the bright tenth day of Pausha, he should worship the Visvedevas.
विप्रं रामं च दशधा केशवस्तान्समास्थितः
Keśava, having assumed the forms of the priest and Rāma in ten ways, abides there.
गन्धैर्धूपैस्तथा दीपैर्नैवेद्यैश्चापि नारद
With fragrances, incense, lamps, and offerings of food as well, O Nārada,
दक्षिणां तां द्विजाग्र्येभ्यो गुरवे वा समर्पयेत्
One should present that gift to the foremost twice-born or to the teacher.
लोकद्वयस्य विप्रर्षे नात्र कार्या विचारणा
O best of sages, for the two worlds, there should be no doubt here.
देवांनगिरसो नाम दश सम्यक्समर्चयेत्
One should properly worship the ten deities called the Angiras gods.
आत्मा ह्यायुर्मनो दक्षो मदः प्राणस्तथैव च
The self, lifespan, mind, skill, pride, and also the breath—these indeed.
दश विप्रान्भोजयित्वा मधुरान्नेन नारद
After feeding ten excellent Brāhmaṇas with sweet food, O Nārada,
अन्त्यशुक्लदशम्यां तु चतुर्दशं यमान्यजेत्
On the fourteenth day, at the end of the bright tenth, one should worship Yama.
वैवस्वतश्च कालश्च सर्वभूतक्षयस्तथा
Vaivasvata, Kāla, and also the destroyer of all beings,
वृकोदरश्चचित्रश्च चित्रगुप्तश्चतुर्दश
Vṛkodara, Citrā, and Citragupta—these are the fourteen.
तिलांबुमिश्राञ्जलिभिर्दर्भैः प्रत्येकशस्त्रिभिः
With three handfuls of sesame and water mixed, using darbha grass for each,
रक्तचन्दनसंमिश्रतिलाक्षतयवांबुभिः
With sesame, rice, and barley water mixed with red sandalwood,
गृहाणार्घ्यं मया दत्तं भक्त्या मामनुकंपय
Accept this arghya offered by me with devotion; show compassion to me.
रौप्यां सुदक्षिणां दत्वा विसृज्याश्नीत च स्वयम्
Having given a good silver dakṣiṇā, one should dismiss them and then eat oneself.
