वैशाखशुक्लषष्ठ्यां च पूजयित्वा च कार्तिकम्
On the sixth day of the bright fortnight in Vaiśākha, having worshipped, one should also honor Kārtika.
ज्येष्ठमासे शुक्लषष्ठ्यां विधिनेष्ट्वा दिवाकरम्
In the month of Jyeṣṭha, on the sixth day of the bright fortnight, one should properly worship the Sun.
आषाढशुक्लषष्ठ्यां वै स्कन्दव्रतमनुत्तमम्
On the sixth day of the bright fortnight in Āṣāḍha, the supreme vow of Skanda is observed.
लभते ऽभीप्सितान्कामान्पुत्रपौत्रादिसंततीः
One attains the desired wishes, including children, grandchildren, and other progeny.
उपचारैः षोडशभिर्भक्त्या परमयान्वितः
With sixteen offerings, accompanied by utmost devotion.
भाद्रमासे कृष्णषष्ट्यां ललिताव्रतमुच्यते
In the month of Bhādra, on the sixth day of the dark fortnight, the vow of Lalitā is prescribed.
शुक्तमाल्ययधरा वापि नद्याः संगमवालुकाम्
Either wearing a garland of shells, or on the sand at the confluence of rivers.
पञ्चधा ललितां तत्र ध्यायेद्वनविलासिनीम्
There, one should meditate upon Lalitā in five ways, as the goddess who delights in the forest.
नीलोत्पलं केतकीं च संगृह्य तगरं तथा
Taking a blue lotus, ketakī, and also tagara.
अक्षताः कलिका गृह्य ताभिर्देवीं प्रपूजयेत्
Taking unbroken rice grains and flower buds, one should worship the goddess with them.
गङ्गाद्वारे कुशावर्त्ते विल्वके नीलपर्वते
At the gate of the Ganges, in Kuśāvarta, in Vilvaka, and on Nīla mountain.
ललिते सुभगं देवि सुखसौभाग्यदायिनि
O Lalitā, O auspicious goddess, bestower of happiness and good fortune.
मन्त्रेणानेन कुसुमैश्वंपकस्य सुशोभनैः
With this mantra and beautiful flowers of the śvaṃpaka tree.
त्रपुषैरपि कूष्माण्डैर्नालिकेरैः सुदाडिमैः
Also with tin vessels, gourds, coconuts, and excellent pomegranates.
फलैस्तत्कालसंभूतैः कृत्वा शोभां तदग्रतः
Arranging fruits produced at that time to enhance the beauty before her.
साद्धै सर्गणकैधूपः सौहालककरञ्जकैः
With incense made from sāddha, sargaṇaka, and sauhālaka, as well as karañjaka.
बहुप्रकारैर्नैवेद्यैर्यथा विभवसारतः
With various kinds of offerings, according to one's means and wealth.
गीतवाद्यनटैर्नृत्यैः प्रोक्षणीयैरनेकधा
With songs, musical instruments, dancers, and many kinds of sprinklings.
न च संमीलयेन्नेत्रे नारीयामचतुष्टयम्
Nor should she close her eyes, nor speak with any man.
एवं जागरणं कृत्वा सप्तम्यां सरितं नयेत्
Having thus remained awake, on the seventh day she should go to the river.
तच्च दद्याद्द्विजेन्द्राय नैवेद्यादि द्विजोत्तम
She should offer that (food) to a foremost Brahmin, as well as the consecrated offerings, O best of Brahmins.
देवान्पितॄन्मनुष्यांश्च पूजयित्वा सुवासिनीः
After worshipping the gods, ancestors, and humans, as well as married women,
भक्ष्यभोज्यैर्बहुविधैर्दत्वा दानानि भूरिशः
Having given many kinds of food and abundant gifts,
यः कश्चिदाचरेदेतद्व्रतं सौभाग्यदं परम्
Whoever observes this vow, which bestows great good fortune,
यद्व्रतैश्च तपोभिश्च दानैर्वा नियमैरपि
Whatever is attained by vows, austerities, gifts, or disciplines,
मृतेरनन्तरं प्राप्य शिवलोकं सनातनम्
After death, one attains the eternal world of Shiva.
नभस्ये मासि या शुक्ला षष्ठी सा चन्दनाह्वया
In the month of Bhadrapada, the sixth day of the bright fortnight is called Chandanā.
रोहिणी पातभौमैस्तु संयुता कपिला भवेत्
When Rohini coincides with Tuesday, it is called Kapilā.
लभते वाञ्छितान्कामान्भास्करस्य प्रसादतः
By the grace of the Sun, one attains all desired wishes.
सर्वमेवाक्षयं ज्ञेयं कृतं देवर्षिसत्तम
O best of divine sages, know that everything thus performed is imperishable.
