पुण्यैर्मन्त्रैस्तथैवान्यैर्हुत्वा पूर्णाहुतिं चरेत्
With auspicious mantras and others as prescribed, he should offer the full oblation.
आचार्यं पूजयेज्जैव वस्त्रालङ्कारभूषणैः
He should worship the teacher with garments, ornaments, and decorations.
भोजयित्वा तु तान्भक्त्या प्रणिपत्य विसर्जयेत्
After feeding them with devotion, one should bow and then dismiss them.
भुङ्क्त्वा वै षड्रसोपेतं प्रमुद्यात्सह बन्धुभिः
Having eaten food endowed with all six tastes, one should rejoice together with relatives.
सप्तर्षीणां प्रसादेन विमानवरगो भवेत्
By the grace of the Seven Sages, one attains the best celestial vehicle.
आश्विने शुक्लपञ्चम्यामुपाङ्गललिताव्रतम्
On the fifth day of the bright fortnight in the month of Ashvina, the Upangalalita vow is to be observed.
उपचारैः षोडशभिः पूजयेत्तां विधानतः
She should be worshipped according to the prescribed method with sixteen offerings.
द्विजवर्याय दातव्यं व्रतसंपूर्तिहेतवे
A gift should be given to a distinguished Brahmin for the completion of the vow.
मातर्मामनुगृह्याथ गम्यतां निजमन्दिरम्
Mother, having blessed me, please return to your own abode.
कर्तव्यं पापनाशाय श्रद्धया द्विजसत्तम
This should be performed with faith, O best of Brahmins, for the destruction of sin.
उपचारैः षोडशभिस्ततः शुचिरलङ्कृतः
Then, purified and adorned, one should worship with sixteen offerings.
विसर्जयेत्ततः पश्चात्स्वयं भुञ्जीत वाग्यतः
Afterwards, one should dismiss them and then eat oneself, observing silence.
नश्यन्ति तस्य पापानि सिंहाक्रान्ता मृगा यथा
His sins are destroyed as deer are overcome by a lion.
तत्फलं प्राप्यते विप्रस्नानेनापि जयादिने
That fruit is obtained even by bathing a Brahmin on the day of victory.
रोगी रोगात्प्रमुच्येत बद्धो मुच्येत बन्धनात्
The sick are freed from illness, the bound are released from bondage.
नागेभ्यो ह्यभयं लब्ध्वा मोदते सह बान्धवैः
Having received safety from serpents, he rejoices together with his relatives.
लभते बाञ्छितान्कामान्नात्र कार्या विचारणा
He obtains the desired wishes; there is no need for deliberation here.
पितॄणां पूजनं शस्तं नागानां चापि सर्वथा
The worship of ancestors is praiseworthy, and so too is the worship of serpents in every way.
यानि सम्यग्विधायात्र लभघेत्सर्वान्मनोरथान्
By properly performing these rites here, one attains all cherished desires.
तत्रेष्ट्वा षण्मुखं देवं नानापूजा विधानतः
There, having worshipped the god Shanmukha with various prescribed offerings—
वैशाखशुक्लषष्ठ्यां च पूजयित्वा च कार्तिकम्
On the sixth day of the bright fortnight in Vaiśākha, having worshipped, one should also honor Kārtika.
ज्येष्ठमासे शुक्लषष्ठ्यां विधिनेष्ट्वा दिवाकरम्
In the month of Jyeṣṭha, on the sixth day of the bright fortnight, one should properly worship the Sun.
आषाढशुक्लषष्ठ्यां वै स्कन्दव्रतमनुत्तमम्
On the sixth day of the bright fortnight in Āṣāḍha, the supreme vow of Skanda is observed.
लभते ऽभीप्सितान्कामान्पुत्रपौत्रादिसंततीः
One attains the desired wishes, including children, grandchildren, and other progeny.
उपचारैः षोडशभिर्भक्त्या परमयान्वितः
With sixteen offerings, accompanied by utmost devotion.
भाद्रमासे कृष्णषष्ट्यां ललिताव्रतमुच्यते
In the month of Bhādra, on the sixth day of the dark fortnight, the vow of Lalitā is prescribed.
शुक्तमाल्ययधरा वापि नद्याः संगमवालुकाम्
Either wearing a garland of shells, or on the sand at the confluence of rivers.
पञ्चधा ललितां तत्र ध्यायेद्वनविलासिनीम्
There, one should meditate upon Lalitā in five ways, as the goddess who delights in the forest.
नीलोत्पलं केतकीं च संगृह्य तगरं तथा
Taking a blue lotus, ketakī, and also tagara.
अक्षताः कलिका गृह्य ताभिर्देवीं प्रपूजयेत्
Taking unbroken rice grains and flower buds, one should worship the goddess with them.
