सिंदूरं जीरकं चैव सौभाग्यद्रव्यसंयुतम्
Sindūra and cumin, together with auspicious substances.
वायनानि च पञ्चैव ताभ्यो दद्याच्च भोजयेत्
And five kinds of garments should be given to them, and they should be fed.
तत्फलं धारयेत्कण्ठे सर्वकामसमृद्धये
One should wear the fruit of this rite on the neck for fulfillment of all desires.
गीतवाद्ययुता नद्यां गौरीं तां तु विसर्जयेत्
Accompanied by song and music, Gaurī should be released into the river.
मम सौभाग्यदानाय यथेष्टं गम्यतां त्वया
For the granting of my good fortune, may you depart as you wish.
भुक्त्वा भोगांस्तु देहान्ते गौरीलोकमवाप्नुयात्
Having enjoyed pleasures, at the end of the body one attains the world of Gaurī.
पूजयित्वा जगद्वन्द्यामुपचारैः पृथग्विधैः
Having worshipped her, revered by the world, with various offerings.
विसर्जयेत्प्रणम्यैनां विष्णुगौरीप्रतुष्टये
One should bid her farewell, bowing, for the satisfaction of Viṣṇu and Gaurī.
कृत्वा पूर्वविधानेन पूजयेज्जगदंबिकाम्
Having performed the prescribed rites beforehand, one should worship the Mother of the Universe.
देवीलोकं समासाद्य मोदते च तया सह
Upon reaching the realm of the Goddess, one delights together with her.
पूर्वोक्तेन विधानेन पूजितापि द्विजोत्तम
Even when worshipped according to the previously mentioned procedure, O best of twice-born,
माघशुक्लतृतीयायां पूज्या सौभाग्यसुंदरी
On the third day of the bright fortnight in Māgha, the auspicious and beautiful one should be worshipped.
प्रसन्ना दिशति स्वीयं लोकं तु व्रततोषिता
Pleased, she grants her own world when satisfied by the observance of the vow.
पूजिता गन्धपुष्पाद्यैः सर्वमङ्गलदा भवेत्
When worshipped with fragrance, flowers, and the like, she becomes the giver of all auspiciousness.
देवीपूजा विप्रपूजा दानं होमो विसर्जनम्
Worship of the Goddess, worship of Brahmins, giving, fire-offering, and dismissal—
भक्त्या कृतानि चेष्टांस्तु कामान्दर्द्युमनोगतान्
Actions performed with devotion fulfill desires that are radiant and arise in the mind.
यानि कृत्वा नरा नार्यो ऽभीष्टान्कामानवाप्नुयुः
By performing these, men and women attain their desired wishes.
गणपं सम्यगभ्यर्च्य दत्त्वा काञ्चनदक्षिणाम्
Having properly worshipped Gaṇapa and given a golden gift,
वैशाखस्य चतुर्थ्यां तु प्रार्थ्यं संकर्षणाह्वयम्
On the fourth day of Vaiśākha, one should seek the one called Saṃkarṣaṇa.
प्राप्य संकर्षणं लोकं मोदते बहुकल्पकम्
Having attained the world of Saṃkarṣaṇa, one enjoys for many aeons.
फलं मूलं च युथेभ्यो दत्त्वा स्वर्गं लभेन्नरः
By giving fruits and roots to the ascetics, a man attains heaven.
यतिभ्यो ऽलाबुपात्राणि दत्त्वाभीष्टं लभेन्नरः
By giving bowls of alābu to the ascetics, a man attains his desired goal.
उद्यापनं विधानेन कर्तव्यं फलमिच्छता
The ritual of conclusion should be performed according to the procedure by one desiring the fruit.
कृत्वा गणपतेर्मातुर्लोके मोदेत तत्समम्
Having performed it, one rejoices in the world of the Mother of Gaṇapati, equal to that.
रथन्तराह्वकल्पस्य ह्यादिभूतं दिनं यतः
Because the day is the origin of the rite called Rathantara,
पूजयित्वा लभेच्चापि फलं देवादिदुर्गमम्
Having worshipped, one also attains the difficult-to-reach fruit of the gods and others.
श्रावणस्य चतुर्थ्यां तु जाति चन्द्रोदये मुने
O sage, on the fourth day of the month of Śrāvaṇa, at the rising of the moon of the Jāti constellation,
लम्बोदरं चतुर्बाहुं त्रिनेत्रं रक्तवर्णकम्
one should worship Lambodara, the four-armed, three-eyed, red-colored deity,
आवाहनादिभिः सर्वैरुपचारैः समर्चयेत्
with all offerings beginning from invocation and other prescribed services.
एवं व्रतं विधायाथ भुक्त्वा मोदकमेव च
