वायनं च ततः पश्चाद्दद्यात्संबन्धिबन्धुषु
Afterwards, one should distribute the food to relatives and kin.
पूर्णं लभेत्फलं नारी व्रताचरणतत्परा
A woman devoted to observing the vow attains its full fruit.
कुर्याद्भक्त्या विधानेन पाद्यार्ध्यार्चन पूर्वकम्
She should perform, with devotion and proper procedure, the worship preceded by offering water for the feet and arghya.
वैणवे मृन्मये वापि विन्यस्यान्नं सदक्षिणम्
She should place food with proper gifts on a wooden or clay vessel.
तदन्ते पारणं कुर्यादिष्टबन्धुजनैः सह
At the end, she should break the fast together with desired relatives and friends.
व्रतस्यास्य प्रभावेण गौरीसहचरीभवेत्
By the power of this vow, she becomes a companion of Gaurī.
दातव्यानि प्रयत्नेन ब्राह्मणेभ्यो यथाविधि
With effort, gifts should be given to Brahmins according to prescribed rules.
भूयसीं च ततो दद्याद्विप्रेभ्यो देवितुष्टये
Then, for the satisfaction of the gods, she should give abundant gifts to the Brahmins.
सा तु देवीप्रसादेन सौभाग्यं लभते ध्रुवम्
By the grace of the goddess, she certainly attains good fortune.
हस्तगौरीव्रतं नाम तदुद्दिष्टं हि शौरिणा
This is called the Hastagaurī vow, as declared by Śauri.
लक्षेश्वरी चैव तथा तद्विधानमुदीर्यते
The procedure for Lakṣeśvarī is likewise declared.
उपवासेन कर्तव्यं वर्षे वर्षे तु नारद
It must be performed with fasting each year, O Nārada.
लक्षमेकं विशोध्याथ क्षिपेत्पयसि संसृते
After purifying one lakh, it should be cast into water mixed together.
प्रकरे गन्धपुष्पाणां पुष्पमालाविभूषिताम्
In the arrangement of fragrant flowers, adorned with garlands of blossoms.
गन्धैः पुष्पैस्तथा धूपैर्दीपैर्नैवेद्यविस्तरैः
With scents, flowers, incense, lamps, and an array of offerings.
ततो विसर्जयद्देवीं जलमध्ये ऽथ दक्षिणाम्
Then one should release the goddess into the water, along with the offering.
इति ते कथितं विप्र कोटिलक्षेश्वरीव्रतम्
Thus, O sage, the rite of Koṭilakṣeśvarī has been explained to you.
इषशुक्लतृतीयायां बृबद्गौरीव्रतं चरेत्
On the third day of the waxing moon, one should observe the great Gaurī vow.
आचार्यं पूजयेदन्ते विप्रानन्यान्धनादिभिः
At the end, the teacher should be worshipped, and other Brahmins honored with food and gifts.
कञ्चुकैश्चैव ताटङ्कैः कण्ठसूत्रैर्हरिप्रियाः
With blouses, earrings, and necklaces, beloved of Hari.
सिंदूरं जीरकं चैव सौभाग्यद्रव्यसंयुतम्
Sindūra and cumin, together with auspicious substances.
वायनानि च पञ्चैव ताभ्यो दद्याच्च भोजयेत्
And five kinds of garments should be given to them, and they should be fed.
तत्फलं धारयेत्कण्ठे सर्वकामसमृद्धये
One should wear the fruit of this rite on the neck for fulfillment of all desires.
गीतवाद्ययुता नद्यां गौरीं तां तु विसर्जयेत्
Accompanied by song and music, Gaurī should be released into the river.
मम सौभाग्यदानाय यथेष्टं गम्यतां त्वया
For the granting of my good fortune, may you depart as you wish.
भुक्त्वा भोगांस्तु देहान्ते गौरीलोकमवाप्नुयात्
Having enjoyed pleasures, at the end of the body one attains the world of Gaurī.
पूजयित्वा जगद्वन्द्यामुपचारैः पृथग्विधैः
Having worshipped her, revered by the world, with various offerings.
विसर्जयेत्प्रणम्यैनां विष्णुगौरीप्रतुष्टये
One should bid her farewell, bowing, for the satisfaction of Viṣṇu and Gaurī.
कृत्वा पूर्वविधानेन पूजयेज्जगदंबिकाम्
Having performed the prescribed rites beforehand, one should worship the Mother of the Universe.
देवीलोकं समासाद्य मोदते च तया सह
Upon reaching the realm of the Goddess, one delights together with her.
