पूर्वाह्ने पूजयेद्देवीं घटस्थापनपूर्वकम्
In the forenoon, one should worship the Goddess, beginning with the installation of the pot.
ततः प्रतिदिनं कुर्यादेकभुक्तमयाचितम्
Then, each day, one should observe a single meal, taken without asking.
मार्कंण्डेय पुराणोक्तं चरितत्रितयं द्विज
O twice-born, one should recite the three narratives described in the Markandeya Purana.
कुमारीपूजनं तत्र प्रशस्तं भोजनादिभिः

जायते भुवि दुर्गायाः प्रसादान्नात्र संशयः

Especially, the preparation called annakūṭa increases the pleasure of Vishnu.
कर्तव्यमन्नकूटं तु गोवर्द्धनसमर्चने
One must prepare annakūṭa during the worship of Govardhana.
समर्च्य दक्षिणीकृत्य भुक्तिमुक्ती समाप्नुयात्
Having worshipped and offered the prescribed gifts, one attains both enjoyment and liberation.
नक्तं विष्ण्वर्चनं होमैः सौवर्णीं हुतभुक्तनुम्
At night, one should worship Vishnu with offerings into the fire, presenting a golden form to the consumer of oblations.
एवं कृत्वा धनैर्धान्यैः समृद्धो जायते भुवि
By doing thus, one becomes prosperous on earth with wealth and grain.
पौषशुक्लप्रतिपदि भानुमभ्यर्च्य भक्तितः
On the first day of the bright fortnight of Pausha, one should worship the Sun with devotion.
माघशुक्लाद्यदिवसे वह्निं साक्षान्महेश्वरम्
On the first day of the bright fortnight of Magha, one should worship Fire, who is verily Maheshvara.
अथ फआल्गुनशुक्लादौ देवदेवं दिगंबरम्
Then, at the beginning of the bright fortnight of Phalguna, one should worship the Lord of gods, the sky-clad one.
कर्मणा लौकिकेनापि संतुष्टो हि महेश्वरः
Maheshvara is indeed satisfied even by worldly actions.
वैशाखे तु सिताद्यायां विष्णुं विश्वविहारिणम्
In the bright fortnight of Vaishakha, one should worship Vishnu, the wanderer of the universe.
एवं शुचिसिताद्यायां ब्रह्माणं जगतां गुरुम्
Likewise, at the beginning of the bright fortnight of Shuchi, one should worship Brahma, the teacher of the worlds.
स्वसायुज्यं प्रदिशति सर्वसिद्धिमवाप्नुयात्
He grants his own abode and all accomplishments are attained.
व्रतानि तुभ्यं प्रोक्तानि भुक्तिमुक्तिप्रदानि च
These vows have been declared to you, bestowing both enjoyment and liberation.
भोजने तु हविष्यान्नं सामान्यत उदाहृतम्
In the context of food, sacrificial fare is generally prescribed.
यानि कृत्वा नरो भक्त्या ब्रह्मलोके महीयते
The deeds by which a man, with devotion, is honored in the world of Brahma—
हविष्यान्नेन गन्धाद्यैः स्तोष्य सर्वक्रतूद्भवम्
—by offering sacrificial fare, with fragrances and the like, one should praise the source of all sacrifices.
अस्मिन्नेव दिने विप्र बालेन्दुमुदितं परे
On this very day, O Brahmin, when the crescent moon has risen in the sky—
अथ वास्मिन्दिने भक्त्या दस्रावभ्यर्च्य यत्नतः
Or else, on this day, with devotion, having carefully worshipped the two Ashvins—
पूर्णयात्राव्रते ह्यस्मिन्दध्ना वापि घृतेन च
In this observance of the Purnayatra vow, with curds or even with ghee—
सुरूपरूपो ऽरिगणप्रतापी धर्माभिरामो नृपवर्गमुख्यः
One becomes handsome, formidable to enemies, radiant with virtue, and foremost among kings.
समर्च्य सप्तधान्यान्याढ्यकुंभोपरि विधानतः
Having worshipped, according to rule, the seven grains placed upon a rich pot—
ज्येष्ठशुक्लद्वितीयायां भास्करं भुवनाधिपम्
On the second day of the bright fortnight of Jyeshtha, to Bhaskara, lord of the worlds—
भोजयित्वा द्विजान् भक्त्या भास्करं लोकमाप्नुयात्
Having fed the twice-born with devotion, one attains the world of Bhaskara.
तस्यां रथं समारोप्य रामं सह सुभद्रया
On that day, placing Rama together with Subhadra upon a chariot—
जलाशयान्तिकं गत्वा कारयेच्च महोत्सवम्
Going near a reservoir of water, one should arrange a great festival.
