देवासुरविमर्दश्च वास्तुविद्या तथैव च
The battle between gods and demons, and likewise the science of architecture.
प्रासादलक्षणं तद्वन्मण्डपान च लक्षणम्
The characteristics of palaces, and likewise the characteristics of pavilions.
कल्पानुकीर्तनं तद्वत्पुराणे ऽस्मिन्प्रकीर्तितम्
The narration of the cycles of time has likewise been recounted in this Purāṇa.
यः पठेच्छृणुयाद्वापि स याति भवनं हरेः
Whoever recites or even hears it attains the abode of Hari.
विप्रायाभ्यर्च्य विषुवे स याति परमं पदम्
Having worshipped a brāhmaṇa at the solstice, he attains the supreme state.
गरुडायाब्रवीत्पृष्टो भगवान्गरुडासनः
The blessed Lord, seated upon Garuḍa, was questioned by Garuḍa and spoke.
पुराणोपक्रमप्रश्नः सर्गः संक्षेपतस्ततः
Thereafter, the inquiry into the commencement of the Purāṇa and the creation, in brief.
श्राद्धपूजा ततः पश्चान्नवव्यूहार्चनं द्विज
Then the worship for ancestors, and after that, the arrangement of food offerings, O twice-born.
योगाध्यायस्ततो विष्णोर्नामसाहस्रकीर्तनम्
Next is the chapter on yoga, the recitation of Viṣṇu’s thousand names.
मालामन्त्रः शिवार्चाथ गणपूजा ततः परम्
Then the garland-mantra, the worship of Śiva, and thereafter the supreme worship of Gaṇeśa.
विष्ण्वर्चा पञ्चतत्त्वार्चा चक्रार्चा देवपूजनम्
The worship of Viṣṇu, the worship of the five principles, the worship of the wheel, and the worship of the gods.
पूजा माहेश्वरी चातः पवित्रारोपणार्चनम्

पित्राख्यानं वर्णधर्मा द्रव्यशुद्धिः समर्पणम्
The account of the ancestors, the duties of the classes, the purification of substances, and offerings.
जननाख्यं प्रेतशौचं नीतिशास्त्रं व्रतोक्तयः
The account of birth, the purity concerning the dead, the science of ethics, and the statements on vows.
रामायणं हरेर्वंशो भारताख्यानकं ततः
The Rāmāyaṇa, the lineage of Hari, and then the account called the Bhārata.
रोगघ्नं कवचं विष्णोर्गारुडं त्रैपुरो मनुः
The armor that destroys disease, the armor of Viṣṇu, the Garuḍa, the Tripura, and Manu.
ओषघीनाम कथनं ततो व्याकरणोहनम्
Then the narration of herbs that destroy poison, and the science of grammar.
तर्पणं वैश्वदेवं च संध्या पार्वणकर्म च
The offerings to ancestors, the Vaiśvadeva rite, the twilight rituals, and the ceremonies for special occasions.
प्रतिसंक्रम उक्ताः स्म युगधर्माः कृतेः फलम्
The prescribed transitions are stated, as well as the duties of the ages and the fruit of the Krita era.
माहात्म्यं वैष्णवं चाथ नारसिंहस्तवोत्तमम्
The greatness of Vishnu is described, along with the supreme hymn to Narasimha.
वेदान्तसांख्यसिद्धान्तो ब्रह्मज्ञानं तथाल्मकम्
The doctrines of Vedanta and Samkhya, and the knowledge of Brahman and the Self.
अथास्यैवोत्तरे खण्डे प्रेतकल्पः पुरोदितः

धर्मप्रकटनं पूर्वं योगिनां गतिकारणम्

यमलोकस्थमार्गस्य वर्णन च तः परम्

निष्कृतिर्यममार्गस्य धर्मराजस्य वैभवम्
The expiation for the path of Yama, and the majesty of Dharmaraja.
प्रेतानां चरिताख्यानं कारणं प्रेततां प्रति
The account of the deeds of the departed, and the cause of becoming a preta.
प्रेतत्वमोक्षणाख्यानं दानानि च विमुक्तये
The narration of liberation from the state of preta, and the gifts for release.
