शिववाक्येन तत्पश्चान्मरीचेर्नारदस्य तु
After the words of Shiva, then came those of Marichi and Narada.
आश्रमे सुमहापुण्ये त्रैलोक्याश्चर्यकारिणी
In the hermitage, supremely holy and wondrous to the three worlds,
ततः सावर्णिसंवादो नारदस्य समीरितः
Then the dialogue with Savarni was narrated by Narada.
प्रकृतेरंशभूतानां कलानां चापि वर्णितम्
The portions and aspects of Prakriti were also described.
एतत्प्रकृतिखण्डं हि श्रुतं भूतिविधायकम्
Indeed, this section on Prakriti has been heard, which bestows prosperity.
पार्वत्याः कार्तिकेयेन सह विघ्नेशसंभवम्
The birth of Ganesha, along with Parvati and Kartikeya, was recounted.
विवादः सुमहानासीज्जामदग्र्यगणेशयोः
A great dispute arose between Jamadagnya and Ganesha.
श्रीकृष्णजन्मसंप्रश्नो जन्माख्यानं ततो ऽद्भुतम्
The question of the birth of Shri Krishna, and then the wondrous account of his birth,
बाल्यकौमारजा लीला विविधास्तत्र वर्णिताः
His various childhood and boyhood pastimes were described there.
रहस्ये राधया क्रीडा वर्णिता बहुविस्तरा
The secret play with Radha was narrated in great detail.
कंसादीनां वधे वृत्ते कृष्णस्य द्विजसंस्कृतिः
After the slaying of Kamsa and others, Krishna's sacred rites as a twice-born were performed.
यवनस्य वधः पश्चाद्द्वारकागमनं हरेः
After the slaying of the Yavana, Hari's journey to Dvaraka took place.
कृष्णखण्डमिदं विप्र नृणां संसारखण्डनम्
O Brahmin, this Krishna section is the destruction of worldly existence for men.
इत्येतद्ब्रह्मवैवर्तपुराणं चात्यलौकिकम्
Thus, this Brahmavaivarta Purana is truly extraordinary.
विज्ञानाज्ञानशमनाद्धोरात्संसारसागरात्
By dispelling knowledge and ignorance, from the dreadful ocean of worldly existence,
ब्रह्मलोकमवाप्नोति स मुक्तो ऽज्ञानबन्धनात्
One attains the world of Brahma, liberated from the bondage of ignorance.
सो ऽपि कृष्णप्रसादेन लभते वाञ्छितं फलम्
By Krishna's grace, he also obtains the desired fruit.
इति श्रीबृहन्नारदीयपुराणे पूर्वभागे बृहदुपाख्याने ब्रह्मवैवर्तपुराणानुक्रमणीनिरूपणं नामैकोत्तरशततमो ऽध्यायाः
Thus ends the one hundred and first chapter, entitled 'Enumeration of the Brahmavaivarta Purana,' in the great narrative of the Purvabhaga of the illustrious Brihannaradīya Purana.
पठतां शृण्वतां चैव भुक्तिमुक्तिप्रदायकम्
For those who recite and listen, it bestows both enjoyment and liberation.
मह्यं धर्मादिसिद्ध्यर्थं मग्निकल्पकथाश्रयम्
To me, for the accomplishment of dharma and other aims, it is based on the stories of the Agnikalpa.
पुराणं लिङ्गमुदितं बह्वाख्यानविचित्रितम्
The Purāṇa, manifest as the Liṅga, is adorned with many wondrous tales.
परं सर्वपुराणानां सारभूतं जगत्त्रये
It is supreme among all Purāṇas, the very essence for the three worlds.
योगाख्यानं ततः प्रोक्तं कल्पाख्यानं ततः परम्
Thereafter, the narration of Yoga is given, and then the narration of Kalpa.
सनत्कुमारशैलादिसंवादश्चाथ पावनः
Then follows the sacred dialogue of Sanatkumāra and Śailādi.
ततो भुवन कोशाख्या सूर्यसोमान्वयस्ततः
Next is the account called Bhuvanakośa, then the lineage of the Sun and Moon.
लिङ्गप्रतिष्ठा च ततः पशुपाशविमोक्षणम्
Then the establishment of the Liṅga and the liberation from the bonds of the soul.
प्रायश्चितान्यरिष्टानि काशीश्रीशैलवर्णनम्
Acts of atonement, inauspicious events, and the description of Kāśī and Śrīśaila.
नृसिंहचरितं पश्चाज्जलन्धरवधस्ततः
Afterwards, the deeds of Nṛsiṃha, then the slaying of Jalandhara.
कामस्य दहनं पश्चाद्गिरिजायाः करग्रहः
Next, the burning of Kāma, and the taking of Girijā's hand.
उपमन्युकथा चापि पूर्वभाग इतीरितः
Also, the story of Upamanyu is declared as the earlier section.
