अमृताशकलैः शुद्धदुग्धाज्यसमभिप्लुतैः
With pieces of nectar, thoroughly soaked in pure milk and clarified butter,
अङ्गावरणमाराध्यपश्चाल्लोकेश्वरान्यजेत्
After worshipping the coverings of the limbs, one should then worship the lords of the worlds.
जपपूजादिभिः सिद्धे मन्त्रे ऽस्मिन्मुनिसत्तम
When this mantra is perfected, O best of sages, by means of recitation, worship, and the like,
दुग्धसिक्तैः सुधाखण्डैर्हुत्वा प्रत्यहमादरात्
Having offered daily, with devotion, pieces of nectar sprinkled with milk,
सुधावटतितान्पूर्वा पयः सर्पिः पयो हविः
The previous ones covered with nectar, milk, ghee, and milk as the oblation,
सप्ताधिकान् द्विजान्नित्यं भोजयेन्मधुरान्वितम्
One should daily feed more than seven twice-born, along with something sweet.
गुरुं संप्रीणयेत्पश्चाद्धनाद्यैर्देवताधिया
Afterwards, one should please the teacher with wealth and other gifts, with devotion to the deity.
विमुक्तः सुचिरं जीवेच्छरदां शतमञ्जसा
Freed (from obstacles), one lives for a long time, easily reaching a hundred autumns.
असाध्यरोगे क्ष्वेडार्तौं मोहे दाहे महाभये
In incurable disease, in distress from cough, in delusion, burning, or great fear,
द्रव्यैरेतैः प्रजुहुयात्त्रिजन्मसु यथाविधि
One should offer oblations with these materials, in the prescribed manner, for three births.
दीर्घमायुरवाप्नोति वाञ्छितां विन्दति श्रियम्
He attains long life and obtains the wealth he desires.
अपमृत्युजिदेव स्यादायुरारोग्यवर्द्धनम्
He becomes victorious over untimely death, and his lifespan and health increase.
समिद्वरैः कृतो होमः सर्वमृत्युगदापहः
A fire offering performed with proper fuel removes all death and disease.
अपामार्गसमिद्धोमः सर्वामयनिषूदनः
A fire offering kindled with apāmārga wood destroys all illnesses.
वटमूलपदस्यान्ते प्रवदेच्च निवासिने
At the end of the banyan tree’s root, one should recite to the resident.
रुद्राय शंभवे तारशक्तिरुद्धो ऽयमीरितः
To Rudra, to Śambhu, this Tāra-śakti, restrained, is uttered.
मुनिः शुकः समुद्दिष्टश्छन्दो ऽनुष्टुप्प्रकीर्तितम्
The sage Śuka is declared as the seer; the meter is called Anuṣṭubh.
तारशक्तियुक्तैः पूर्वं ह्रीमाद्यन्तैश्च मन्त्रजैः
With Tāra-śakti mantras, beginning with ‘hrīm’ and ending accordingly, first.
मूर्ध्नि भाले दृशोः श्रोत्रे गण्डयुग्मे सनासिके
On the head, forehead, eyes, ears, both cheeks, and the nose.
कट्यां गुह्ये पुनः पादसंधिष्वर्णान्न्यसेन्मनोः
On the waist, in the secret part, again at the joints of the feet, one should place the letters of the mantra.
हिमाचलतटे रम्ये सिद्धिकिन्नरसेविते
On the beautiful slopes of the Himalayas, attended by accomplished beings and kinnaras.
सुपुष्पितैर्लताजालैराश्लिष्टकुसुमद्रुमे
Embraced by blossoming creepers and trees laden with flowers.
गायद्देवाङ्गनासंघे नृत्यद्बर्हि कदम्बके
With groups of divine maidens singing, and peacocks dancing in flocks.
परस्परविनिर्मुक्तमात्सर्यमृगसेविते
Frequented by deer, free from mutual envy.
आद्यैः शुकाद्यैर्मुनिभिरजस्रसुखसेविते
Constantly enjoyed by the foremost sages, beginning with Śuka, in uninterrupted happiness.
वटवृक्षं महोच्छ्रायं पद्मरागफलोज्ज्लम्
A great and lofty banyan tree, shining with padmarāga fruits.
नवरत्नमयाकल्पैर्लंबमानैरलङ्कृतम्
Adorned with hanging ornaments fashioned from nine kinds of jewels.
तस्य मूले सुसंकॢप्तरत्नसिंहासने शुभे
At its root, on a well-arranged, auspicious jeweled throne.
कैलासाद्रिनिभं त्र्यक्षं चन्द्राङ्कितकपर्दकम्
He is like Mount Kailāsa, three-eyed, with a lock of hair adorned by the moon.
भद्राटके कुरङ्गाढ्यजानुस्थकरपल्लवम्
In the auspicious seat, his hands and knees are graced by the presence of deer.
