भवेद्युतिस्तृतीया स्यादभवे तदनन्दरम्
Radiance is the third; if absent, then after that—
मेधा स्यात्पञ्चमी प्रोक्ता कलाभूयो भवस्व माम्
Intelligence is said to be the fifth kalā; again, let the kalā become me.
उद्भवाय नमः पश्चात्सुधा स्यादष्टमी कला
Salutation to Udbhavā; afterwards, Nectar is the eighth kalā.
अष्टात्रिंशत्कलाः प्रोक्ताः पञ्च ब्रह्मपदादिकाः
Thirty-eight kalās are declared; five begin with the Brahma-pada.
ततः समाहितो भूत्वा ध्यायेदेवं सदाशिवम्
Then, having become composed, one should always meditate in this way upon Sadashiva.
अक्षैर्युतं ग्लौमुकुटं कोटिपूर्णेन्दुसंप्रभम्
He is adorned with a garland of akṣa beads, crowned with a topknot, and radiates with the brilliance of millions of full moons.
दधानंभूषणोद्दीप्तं घण्टापाशवराभयान्
He bears ornaments shining brightly, and holds a bell, noose, boon-bestowing, and fear-dispelling gestures.
प्रसूनैः करवीरोत्थैर्जुहुयात्तहृशांशतः
With flowers of karavīra, one should offer oblations to him with utmost joy, a hundred times.
आवाह्य पूजयेत्तस्यां मूर्तावावरणैः सह
Having invoked him, one should worship that form together with the attendant deities.
ईशानं त्रीक्षणं शुभ्रमैशान्यां दिशि पूजयेत्
One should worship Īśāna, three-eyed and radiant, in the northeast direction.
चतुर्मुखं तत्पुरुषं त्रिनेत्रं पूर्वन्तोर्ऽचयेत्
In the east, one should worship the four-faced Tatpuruṣa, who has three eyes.
खट्वाङ्गं निशितं शूलं कपालं बिभ्रतं करैः
He holds a club, a sharp trident, and a skull in his hands.
अघोरं त्रीक्षणं याम्ये पूजयेन्मन्त्रवित्तमः
The knower of mantras should worship Aghora, three-eyed, in the southern direction.
हरिणाक्षगुणाभीतिवरहस्तं चतुर्मुखम्
He is four-faced, holding a rosary of deer’s eyes, a boon-bestowing, and fear-dispelling gesture.
कर्पूरेदुनिभं सौम्यं सद्योजातं त्रिलोचनम्
Sadyōjāta, gentle and three-eyed, shining like camphor, should be worshipped.
विलासिनं स्मेरवक्त्रं सौम्ये सम्यक्समर्चयेत्
One should properly worship the gracious one, with a smiling face, in the western direction.
विघ्नेश्वराननन्ताद्यान्पत्रेषु परितो यजेत्
One should offer worship all around, in vessels, to Gaṇeśa, Ananta, and the others.
इति संपूज्य देवेशं भक्त्या परमया युतः
Thus, having worshipped the Lord of gods with supreme devotion,
तारो मायावियद्बिन्दुमनुस्वरसमन्वितः
The syllable 'ta', united with māyā, space, bindu, and anusvāra,
पञ्चाक्षरोक्तवत्कुर्यादङ्गन्यासादिकं बुधः
The wise should perform aṅganyāsa and related rites as prescribed for the five-syllable mantra.
दिव्यभूषाङ्गरागं च नागयज्ञोपवीतिनम्
He is adorned with divine ornaments and unguents, and wears a serpent as his sacred thread.
वेदटङ्केष्मभयं ध्यायेत्सर्वेश्वरं शिवम्
One should meditate upon Śiva, the Lord of all, bearing the Vedas as his crest and ashes as his adornment.
पायसैर्जुहुयात्पीठेमूर्तिं संकल्प्य मूलतः
One should offer oblations of milk on the altar, having first conceived the form at its root.
उमादिभिः समुद्दिष्टं तृतीयं लोकनायकैः
The third (form), as prescribed by Umā and others, is declared by the leaders of the worlds.
एवं प्रतिदिनं देवं पूजयेत्साधकोत्तमः
Thus, the foremost practitioner should worship the deity every day.
तारः स्थिरा सकर्णेन्दुर्भघृगुः सर्गसमन्वितः
The syllable is steady, with ears, a crescent moon, Bhaga, Bṛgu, and endowed with creation.
ऋषैः कहोलो देव्यादिगायत्री छन्द ईरितम्
By the sages Kahola and others, and by the goddess, the Gāyatrī meter is proclaimed.
भृगुणा दीर्घयुक्तेन षडङ्गानि समाचरेत्
By Bṛgu, with a long syllable, one should perform the six limbs (of the ritual).
मुद्रापाशैणाक्षसूत्रलसत्पाणिं शशिप्रभम्
One should visualize (the deity) with hands adorned by mudrā, noose, goad, and rosary, shining like the moon.
हाराद्यैर्निजकान्त्या तु ध्यायेद्विश्वविमोहनम्
Adorned with garlands and other ornaments, radiant with their own brilliance, one should meditate on the enchanter of the universe.
