ध्यायेन्नित्यं महेशानं रौप्यपर्वतसन्निभम्
One should always meditate on the great Lord, resembling a silver mountain.
परश्वधवराभीतिमृगहस्तं शुभाननम्
Holding a battle-axe, the gestures of boon and fearlessness, a deer in his hand, and possessing an auspicious face.
व्याघ्रकृतिं वसानं च विश्वाद्यं विश्वरूपकम्
Wearing the form of a tiger, the primordial source of all, manifesting the universal form.
तत्त्वलक्षं जपेन्मन्त्रं दीक्षितः शैववर्त्मना
Initiated in the Shaiva path, one should recite the mantra marked by the essence of truth.
ततः सिद्धो भवेन्मन्त्रः साधकाभीष्टसिद्धिदः
Then the mantra becomes perfected, granting the desired accomplishments to the practitioner.
वामा ज्येष्ठा तथा रौद्री काली कलपदादिका
Vāmā, Jyeṣṭhā, Raudrī, Kālī, and those beginning with Kalapadā.
बलप्रमथनी पश्चात्सर्वभूतदमन्यथ
Then Balapramathanī, and afterwards, the one who subdues all beings.
नमो भगवते पश्चात्सकलादि वदेत्ततः
Afterwards, one should say: 'Salutations to the Blessed One,' and then recite everything else.
योगपीठात्मने भूयो नमस्तारादिको मनुः
Again, the mantra beginning with 'namas' for the Lord of the Yogic seat and the stars.
मूर्तिं मूलेन संकल्प्य तत्रावाह्य यजेच्छिवम्
Having conceived the form with the root, one should invoke and worship Shiva there.
शुद्धस्फटिकसंकाशं दिक्षु तत्पुरुषादिका
Resembling pure crystal, in the directions, beginning with Tatpuruṣa.
चतुर्वक्त्रसमायुक्ता यथावत्ताः प्रपूजयेत्
Endowed with four faces, one should worship them properly.
अङ्गानि केसरस्थानि विघ्नेशान्पन्नगान्यजेत्
The limbs situated in the mane, one should worship the Lords of obstacles and serpents.
एकनेत्रमेकरुद्रं त्रिमूर्तिं तदनन्तरम्
Next, the one-eyed, the single Rudra, and the Trimūrti thereafter.
रक्तपीतसितारक्तकृष्णरक्ताञ्जनासितान्
Red, yellow, white, red-black, black, and black like collyrium.
त्रिनेत्राञ्छूलवज्रास्त्रचापहस्तान्मनोरमान्
Three-eyed, holding trident, thunderbolt, weapon, and bow, delightful in form.
ततो नन्दिमहाकालौ गणेशं वृषभं पुनः
Then Nandi, the great form, Ganesha, and again the bull.
स्वर्णतोयारुणश्याममुक्तेन्दुसितपाटलान्
Golden, watery, reddish, dark, pearl-like, moon-white, and pale red.
इत्थं संपूजयेद्देवं सहस्रं नित्यशो जपेत्
Thus one should worship the deity, reciting a thousand times daily.
द्विसहस्रं जपन् रोगान्मुच्यते नात्र संशयः
By reciting two thousand times, one is freed from diseases; there is no doubt in this.
सहस्रवृद्धया प्रजपन्सर्वकामानवाप्नुयात्
Reciting with a thousandfold increase, one attains all desires.
उत्पातजनितान् क्लेशान्नाशयेन्नात्र संशयः
There is no doubt that he destroys the afflictions caused by calamities.
षडक्षरः शक्तिरुद्धः कथितो ऽष्टाक्षरो मनुः
The six-syllabled mantra is empowered; the eight-syllabled mantra is declared.
अङ्गानि पूर्वमुक्तानि सौम्यमीशं विचिन्तयेत्
The limbs have been previously described; one should contemplate the gentle Lord.
स्मेरास्यं स्वकरैः शूलं कंपालं वरदाभये
With a smiling face, holding the trident, skull, and gestures of boon and protection in his own hands,
भुजेनाश्लिष्टदेहं तं चिन्तयेन्मनसा हृदि
One should mentally contemplate him in the heart, embracing the body with his arm.
जुहुयान्मान्मधुससिक्तैरारग्वधसमिद्वरैः
He should offer oblations with sticks of aragvadha wood, soaked in honey.
अङ्गावृतैर्बहिः पूज्या हृल्लेखाद्या यथापुरा
The hṛllekhā and other mantras, as before, should be worshipped outside, surrounding the limbs.
यजेत्पूर्वादिपत्रेषु वृषभाद्याननुक्रमात्
He should worship, in the order beginning with the east, the guardians such as Vṛṣabha and others on the leaves.
रक्ताकारं त्रिनयनं चण्डेशमथ पूजयेत्
Then, he should worship Caṇḍeśa, red in form and three-eyed.
