विद्यायाः कुलसुन्दर्याः कर्तव्यो द्विजसत्तम
The rite for the knowledge of Kulasundarī must be performed, O best of the twice-born.
होमादिस्तद्दशांशेन प्रोक्तः प्रोक्तविधानतः
Oblations and the like should be performed with one-tenth, according to the prescribed procedure.
जपो नित्यपताकाया होमादिस्तद्दशांशतः
The recitation for Nityapatākā, as well as oblations and the like, should be performed with one-tenth.
अन्यत्पूर्ववदाख्यातं विद्यासिद्ध्यै तु साधनम्
Other means for the accomplishment of knowledge have been described previously.
तद्दशांशक्रमेणैव होमादि समुदीरितम्
The sequence of offerings such as homa has been described according to the order of the respective tenth parts.
होमादिस्तद्दशांशेन प्रोक्तद्रव्यैः समीरितः
In the same way, homa and other rites are to be performed with the prescribed substances, using the respective tenth portions.
प्रोक्तेन विधिना कार्यो विद्यासिद्ध्यै मुनीश्वर
O best of sages, all this should be done according to the prescribed procedure for the attainment of knowledge.
ज्ञातव्यं सर्वमेवात्र यन्त्रसाधनपूर्वकम्
Here, everything must be understood as preceded by the preparation of the necessary instruments.
यं समाराध्य मनुजो भुक्तिं मुक्तिं च विन्दति
By worshipping whom, a person attains both enjoyment and liberation—
पञ्चाक्षरो मनुः प्रोक्तस्ताराद्यो ऽयं षडक्षरः
The five-syllabled mantra is declared, and this six-syllabled one begins with the syllable 'ta'.
षड्भिर्वर्णैः षडङ्गानि कुर्यान्मन्त्रेण देशिकः
With the six syllables, the teacher should form the six limbs using the mantra.
तर्जनीमध्ययोरन्त्यानामिकाङ्गुष्ठके पुनः
Again, at the tips of the index and middle fingers, the ring finger, and the thumb—
वक्त्रहृत्पादगुह्येषु निजमूर्द्धनि ताः पुनः
At the mouth, heart, feet, secret parts, and again on one's own head—
मन्त्राङ्गानिन्यसेत्पश्चाज्जातियुक्तानि षट् क्रमात्
Afterwards, the six limbs of the mantra, endowed with their respective classes, should be placed in order.
हृदि वक्त्रेंऽसयोरूर्वोः कण्ठे नाभौ द्विपार्श्वयोः
At the heart, mouth, shoulders, thighs, throat, navel, and both sides—
दोःपत्संधिषु साग्रेषु विन्यसेत्तदनन्तरम्
Then, at the joints of the arms and at the tips of the fingers, one should place them accordingly.
हृदि वक्त्रांबुजे टङ्कमृगा भयवरेष्वथ
In the heart, in the lotus of the mouth, the symbols of the staff and the deer, and at the gestures of fearlessness and boon—
मूलमन्त्रस्य षड वर्णान्यथावद्देशिकोत्तमः
The six syllables of the root mantra, as appropriate, O best of teachers—
पश्चादनेन मन्त्रेण कुर्वीत व्यापकं सुधीः
Afterwards, with this mantra, the wise should perform the all-pervading rite.
चतुर्मूर्तिवपुश्छायाभासिताङ्गाय शंभवे
To Śambhu, whose limbs are illumined by the radiance of the four-formed body—
ध्यायेन्नित्यं महेशानं रौप्यपर्वतसन्निभम्
One should always meditate on the great Lord, resembling a silver mountain.
परश्वधवराभीतिमृगहस्तं शुभाननम्
Holding a battle-axe, the gestures of boon and fearlessness, a deer in his hand, and possessing an auspicious face.
व्याघ्रकृतिं वसानं च विश्वाद्यं विश्वरूपकम्
Wearing the form of a tiger, the primordial source of all, manifesting the universal form.
तत्त्वलक्षं जपेन्मन्त्रं दीक्षितः शैववर्त्मना
Initiated in the Shaiva path, one should recite the mantra marked by the essence of truth.
ततः सिद्धो भवेन्मन्त्रः साधकाभीष्टसिद्धिदः
Then the mantra becomes perfected, granting the desired accomplishments to the practitioner.
वामा ज्येष्ठा तथा रौद्री काली कलपदादिका
Vāmā, Jyeṣṭhā, Raudrī, Kālī, and those beginning with Kalapadā.
बलप्रमथनी पश्चात्सर्वभूतदमन्यथ
Then Balapramathanī, and afterwards, the one who subdues all beings.
नमो भगवते पश्चात्सकलादि वदेत्ततः
Afterwards, one should say: 'Salutations to the Blessed One,' and then recite everything else.
योगपीठात्मने भूयो नमस्तारादिको मनुः
Again, the mantra beginning with 'namas' for the Lord of the Yogic seat and the stars.
मूर्तिं मूलेन संकल्प्य तत्रावाह्य यजेच्छिवम्
Having conceived the form with the root, one should invoke and worship Shiva there.
