त्रिजप्ताभिः पिबेत्तोयं तथा वाक्सिद्वये शिवम्
He should drink water after reciting thrice, and likewise attain mastery of speech and Shiva.
त्रिस्वादुसिक्तैररुणैरंबुजैर्हवनं चरेत्
He should perform the fire offering with red lotuses moistened with three sweet substances.
कुर्यादुक्तान्प्रयोगांश्च न चेत्तन्मनुदेवताः
One should perform the prescribed applications; otherwise, the deities of those mantras do not respond.
अनया विद्यया लोके यदसाध्यं न तत्क्वचित्
With this knowledge, there is nothing in the world that cannot be accomplished.
उद्यानमध्यकान्तारे मातृपादपमूलतः
In the middle of a garden, at the root of a mother tree,
कमलैः कैरवै रक्तैः सितैः सौगन्धिकोत्पलैः
with lotuses, water-lilies, red and white flowers, and fragrant blue lilies,
होमात्सप्तसु वारेषु तन्मण्डलत एव वै
by offering oblations for seven days, right there at the mandala,
मल्लयुद्धे शस्त्रयुद्धे वादे द्यूतह्नये ऽपि च
in wrestling matches, battles with weapons, debates, or even in gambling contests,
चतुरङ्गुलजैः पुप्पैर्हेमात्संस्तंभयेदरीन्
with flowers measuring four fingers, one can immobilize enemies by means of gold.
चंपकैः केतकै राजवृक्षजैर्माधवोद्भवैः
With champaka, ketaka, flowers of the royal tree, and those born in spring,
प्रोक्तेषु स्तंभनं शत्रोर्भङ्गो वा भवति ध्रुवम्
Among those mentioned, the immobilization or destruction of the enemy certainly occurs.
सर्षपाज्यप्लुताभिस्ते प्रणमन्त्येव पादयोः
With mustard seeds dipped in clarified butter, they will surely bow at your feet.
समिद्भिर्जुहुयात्सम्यग्वारे शार्चनपूर्वकम्
One should properly offer oblations with sacred sticks, preceded by worship, on the appointed days.
तेनास्य विजयो भूयान्निधनेनापि वा पुनः
By this, victory will be his, or even the death of the enemy may occur again.
पत्रैः पुष्पैः फलैः काण्डैर्मूलैश्चापि हुनेत्क्रमात्
With leaves, flowers, fruits, stems, and roots, one should offer oblations in order.
अरातिदिङ्मुखो भूत्वा कुण्डे त्र्यस्रे विधानतः
Facing the direction of the enemy, in a properly prepared triangular pit,
पलाशेध्मानले तस्य पञ्चाङ्गैस्तद्घृताप्लुतैः
In a fire of palāśa wood, with the five parts of the plant, all dipped in ghee,
खादिरेध्मानले तस्य पञ्चाङ्गैस्तद्घृताप्लुतैः
In a fire of khādira wood, with the five parts of the plant, all dipped in ghee,
अपामार्गस्य सौम्ये ऽह्नि पिप्पलस्य गुरोर्दिने
On an auspicious day, use apāmārga; on a heavy day, use pippala.
शुभ्रपीतसितश्यामवर्णाद्याः पूर्ववत्तथा
White, yellow, pale, and dark-colored ones, as before, likewise.
प्रतिपत्तिथिमारभ्य पञ्चम्यन्तं क्रमेण वै
Beginning from the day of initiation, one should proceed in order up to the fifth day.
माहिषाज्यप्लुतैस्ताभिस्तिथिभिः समवाप्नुयात्
With offerings dipped in buffalo ghee, one should perform the rites on those days.
प्रागुक्तैर्निस्तुषैर्हेमात्प्रागुक्तफलमाप्नुयात्
With the previously mentioned gold vessels, free from husk, one obtains the previously described result.
सितान्नैः पायसैः सिक्तैराविकैस्तु घृतैस्तथा
With white rice, with milk puddings, with offerings sprinkled with sheep's ghee as well.
एवं नक्षत्रवृक्षोत्थवह्नौ तैस्तैर्मधुप्लुतैः
In the fire kindled with wood from the corresponding lunar mansion's tree, with those offerings mixed with honey.
विद्यां संसाध्य पूर्वं तु पश्चादुक्तानशेषतः
Having first accomplished the rite for knowledge, then one should perform the rest as previously stated.
संपूज्य देवतां विप्रकुमारीं कन्यकां तु वा
One should worship the deity, or a brāhmaṇa maiden, or a young girl.
तथाविधं कुमारं वा संस्थाप्यभ्यर्च्य विद्यया
Or similarly, a young boy of such qualities should be seated and honored with the rite for knowledge.
प्रसूनैररुणैः शुभ्रैः सौरभाढ्यैरथापि वा
With flowers that are red, white, and fragrant, or with others as well.
ततो देव्या समाविष्टे तस्मिन्संपूज्य भक्तितः
Then, when the goddess has entered that person, one should worship with devotion.
