ज्याख्येन युक्ता सचरो रभश्चैतस्य पूर्वकम्
Joined with the bowstring and movement, and Rabhas is prior to this.
शुभोभ्रता चरेणापि हंसः स्वेन सपूर्वकम्
The swan, with auspicious cloud and movement, along with its own and prior forms.
रसश्चरेण तत्पूर्वमग्निना च रसो युतः
The essence, moving, is first united with fire and with essence.
प्राणः स्वेन युतः पश्चाद्धृदयस्वयुतं रसः
Afterwards, the breath is joined with its own, and the essence with the heart's own.
गोत्राभरायुता स्पर्शो नादयुक्तो जवीयुतः
Touch is joined with the weight of the lineage, with sound, and with swiftness.
शून्यं मरुत्स्वसहितं हृद्दाहेनांबुना चरः
Emptiness, together with the winds, with the burning of the heart and water, moves.
ज्याग्निः स्वसंयुतो हंसस्तथांबु मरुता सह
The bowstring-fire, united with itself, and the swan, likewise with water and wind.
प्राणदाहौ धरायुक्तौ पुनस्तौ वह्निना वियत्
The breath and burning, joined with earth, and again those two with fire and space.
पूर्वद्विरुक्तवर्णौ च शुद्धिः स्वेन युतस्तथा
The two previously spoken syllables, and purity, are likewise joined with their own.
युतिर्नादवती पश्चाद्धृदंबुमरुता युतम्
The union, possessing sound, afterwards is joined with heart, water, and wind.
वाराही पञ्चमी विश्वविजया भद्रकौमुदी
Vārāhī, the fifth, the conqueror of the universe, and Bhadrakaumudī.
अङ्गानि कुर्यान्मन्त्रार्णैः सप्तभिषड्भिरेव च
One should form the limbs with seven or six mantra-syllables.
त्रिकोणवृत्तषट्कोणवृत्तद्वयसमन्वितम्
Endowed with a triangle, a circle, a hexagon, and a pair of circles.
ध्यायेच्च देवीं कीलास्यां ततः काञ्चनसन्निभाम्
One should meditate on the goddess at the center, then shining like gold.
त्रिनेत्रामष्टहस्तां च चक्रं शङ्खमथाङ्कुशम्
With three eyes, eight arms, holding a discus, a conch, and an elephant goad.
दधानां गरुडस्कन्धे सुखासीनां विचिन्तयेत्
Imagining her seated comfortably on Garuḍa's shoulder, holding them.
प्रयोगेषु स्मरेद्देवीं सिंहस्थां व्याघ्रगामपि
In rituals, one should remember the goddess seated on a lion, or riding a tiger.
श्यामामप्यरुणां पीतामसितांभोजविग्रहाम्
Also dark, red, yellow, or with a form like a black lotus.
अरुणां पञ्चमीं वश्ये पीतां स्तंभनके स्मरेत्
One should remember the red fifth for attraction, and the yellow for immobilization.
धूम्रामुच्चाटने ध्यायेत्साधको द्विजसत्तमः
For expulsion, the accomplished one, best of twice-born, should meditate on the smoky form.
भजतामिष्टदाः सद्यः सर्वपापक्षयङ्कराः
They who worship me receive their desired boons at once, and all their sins are destroyed.
नाम्नां सहस्रं वक्ष्यामि गुरुध्यानपुरः सरम्
I shall declare a thousand names, preceded by meditation on the guru.
भूम्यादीनिशिवान्तानि विद्धि तत्त्वानि नारद
Know, O Nārada, that the principles begin with earth and end with Śiva.
एतानि प्राहमनोवृत्त्या चिन्तयेत्साधकोत्तमः
The foremost practitioner should contemplate these with the activity of the mind.
नमस्ते नाथ भगवञ्शिवाय गुरुरूपिणे
Salutations to you, Lord, Bhagavān Śiva, who appears in the form of the guru.
नवाय नवरूपाय परमार्थैकरूपिणे
To the ever-new, of ever-new forms, whose essence is the one supreme reality.
स्वतन्त्राय दयाकॢप्तविग्रहाय शिवात्मने
To the independent one, whose form is shaped by compassion, whose nature is Śiva.
विवेकिनां विवेकाय विमर्शाय विमर्शिनाम्
To the discernment of the discerning, to reflection for those who reflect.
पुरस्तात्पार्श्वयोः पृष्ठे नमः कुर्यामुपर्यधः
Let me offer salutations in front, at the sides, behind, above, and below.
इति स्तुत्वा गुरुं भक्त्या परां देवीं विचिन्तयेत्
Having thus praised the guru with devotion, one should meditate on the supreme goddess.
