चरेणांबु च गोत्राहृत्साग्निर्ज्यांबुरसा स्वयुक्
With 'ca', water, gotra, heart, fire, bow, water, and its own essence.
दाहेनानेन ते द्विः स्याद्भस्वो दाहमरुत्स्वयुक्
With this burning, twice for you; the ashes, burning, and wind, with its own essence.
सप्तदाहास्ततो ऽस्याः स्युरष्टमाद्यास्तु पञ्च ते
Thus, there are seven burnings for her; the first eight are five.
त्वरिता त्वं च भेरुण्डाष्टमं च नवनं तथा
Swift, you, and Bheruṇḍā, as the eighth, and likewise the ninth.
एकद्वयचतुःपञ्चचतुष्टयदशाक्षरैः

Holding a trident, fire, boons, and fearlessness, with a lotus and a cup.
चारुस्मितलसद्वक्त्र सरोजां त्रीक्षणान्वताम्
With a beautiful smile, a shining face, lotus-like, and possessing three eyes.
चतुरस्रद्वयं कृत्वा चतुर्द्वारसमन्वितम्
Having made two squares, furnished with four doors.
षट्कोणं मध्यतस्त्र्यस्रं विधायात्र शिवां जयेत्
Having formed a hexagon and a triangle in the center, one should worship Śivā there.
वायुप्रणवतत्त्वैस्तु चित्रास्यादक्षरद्वया
With the principles of wind and the syllable 'praṇava', and with two letters, her face is adorned.
विद्याद्यवायुना कुर्याद्दीर्घस्वरयुजा क्रमात्
With knowledge and wind, one should perform in order, joined with a long vowel.
उद्यदादित्यबिंबाभां नवरत्नविभूषणाम्
Resembling the disk of the rising sun, adorned with nine jewels.
चतुर्भुजां त्रिनयनां शुचिस्मितलसन्मुखीम्
She is four-armed, three-eyed, with a radiant face adorned by a pure smile.
चतुर्भुजेषु वै पाशमङ्कुशं वरदाभये
In her four hands are a noose, a goad, and gestures of granting boons and dispelling fear.
तच्छक्तिभिश्च तच्चक्रे तथैवार्चनमीरितम्
With her powers, in that same circle, worship was likewise proclaimed.
व्यासं मरुच्छक्तियुतं भूः स्वयुक्ता ततस्त्रयम्
Vyāsa, endowed with the power of wind, and the earth with her own power—thus, the three.
दाहेन वह्निशक्तिभ्यां युतो हंसस्ततः परम्
By burning, united with the power of fire, then the supreme swan.
अंबु पश्चाद्विषयुक्तं मरुता तु नभोयुतम्
After water, joined with poison; with wind, then united with space.
अस्याः षष्ठादिपञ्चार्णा दैत्यास्यादाद्य ईरितः
Of her, the five syllables beginning with the sixth are said to arise from the demon’s mouth.
तृतीयः पञ्चविंशार्णः प्रोक्ता मन्त्रा इति क्रमात्
The third, the twenty-fifth syllable, is declared to be the mantra in sequence.
विकीर्णकुन्तलां नग्रां रक्तामानन्दविग्रहाम्
With disheveled hair, mountain-like, red, embodying bliss.
तत्समानायुधाकारवर्णा देव्यास्तु वा
Her weapons, forms, and colors are the same as those of the goddess.
इत्येषा कुरुकुल्लान्ते प्रोक्ता चन्द्रावलीस्वयम्

Endowed with the essence of earth and fire, then again with water and wind.
अम्बुदाहौ मरुद्युक्तौ हंसो ऽथ धरया नभः
The swan, joined with wind in water and ether, then with the stream and sky.
तोयं चरेण तत्पूर्वं तोयमग्नियुतं ततः
Water, with movement, comes first; then water united with fire.
दाहो धरा स्वसहरितस्तोयं चरसमन्वितम्
Burning, earth with her own green, water accompanied by movement.
