प्रणवो मनुचन्द्राढ्यं गगनं हृदयं शिवा
Praṇava, the mantra with the moon, the sky, the heart, and Śivā.
वाराहनारायणयोर्मन्त्रौ पूर्वमुदीरयेत्
First, one should recite the mantras of Vārāha and Nārāyaṇa.
यजेत्स्वस्वमनुभ्यां तु तावुच्येते मुनीश्वर
O best of sages, one should perform sacrifice with one's own wealth, as has been declared.
नयेममन्नं प्राणान्ते दापयानलसुंदरी
At the end of life, do not take this food; let the beautiful one of fire (i.e., the sacrificial fire) consume it.
लक्ष्मीष्टौ श्रीपुटो विप्र स्नृतिर्लभनुचन्द्रयुक्
O Brahmin, Lakṣmī is eightfold, the treasury of fortune; by her favor, one obtains the moon and other riches.
मन्त्रादिस्थचतुर्बीजपूर्विकाः परिपूजयेत्
One should worship with mantras and the four kinds of seeds as prescribed.
कमला सुभगा चति ब्राह्म्याद्या अष्टपत्रगाः
Kamalā, the auspicious one, and the goddesses beginning with Brāhmī, reside in the eight-petaled lotus.
प्रीती रतिर्ह्नीः श्रीश्चापि स्वधा स्वाहा दशम्यथ
Affection, delight, modesty, and also Śrī, along with Svadhā and Svāhā, are the tenth (goddesses).
अमावास्येति संपूज्या मन्त्रेशे प्राणपूर्विका
On the new moon day, one should worship with the principal mantra and with vital breath.
इत्थं जपादिभिः सिद्धे मन्त्रे ऽस्मिन्धनसंचयैः
Thus, when the mantra is perfected through recitation and other practices, and with the accumulation of wealth,
अथ लक्ष्म्यवतारो ऽन्यः कीर्त्यते मुनिसत्तम
Now, O best of sages, another incarnation of Lakṣmī is described.
बगलामुखसर्वान्ते इन्धिकाह्रादिनीयुता
At the end of all, Bagalāmukhī, accompanied by the fire-offering and other rites, is present.
वाचं मुखं पदं स्तंभयान्ते जिह्वापदं वदेत्
At the end, one should utter: 'May speech, mouth, and word be paralyzed; may the tongue and word be stilled.'
तारो ऽग्निसुंदरी मन्त्रो बगलायाः प्रकीर्तितः
The mantra of Bagalā is called Tārāgnisuṃdarī.
देवता नेत्रपञ्चेषुनवपञ्चदिगर्णकैः
The goddess is to be worshipped with five arrows of the eyes and with fifteen guardians of the directions.
स्वर्णासनस्थां हेमाभां स्तंभिनीमिन्दुशेखराम्
Seated on a golden throne, shining like gold, she is the paralyzer, crowned with the moon.
एवं ध्यात्वाजपेल्लक्षमयुतं चंपकोद्भवैः
Thus meditating, one should recite a hundred thousand times, using champaka flowers.
चन्दनागुरुचन्द्राद्यैः पूजार्थं यन्त्रमालिखेत्
For the purpose of worship, one should draw the yantra with sandalwood, aguru, camphor, and other substances.
मङ्गला स्तंभिनी चैव जृंभिणी मोहिनी तथा
Maṅgalā, Staṃbhinī, Jṛṃbhiṇī, and also Mohinī are (her forms).
धात्री च कलना कालकर्षिणी भ्रामिकापि च
Dhātrī, Kalanā, Kālakarṣiṇī, and also Bhrāmikā (are her forms).
भूगृहस्य चतुर्दिक्षु पूर्वादिषु यजेत्क्रमात्
In the four directions of the house, beginning with the east, one should perform worship in sequence.
इन्द्रादींश्च ततो बाह्ये निजायुधसमन्वितान्
Then, outside of that, one should worship Indra and the other deities, each accompanied by their own weapons.
पीतवस्त्रपदासीनः पीतमाल्यानुलेपनः
Seated on a yellow cloth, adorned with yellow garlands and ointments,
पीतां ध्यायन्भगवतीं पयोमध्ये ऽयुतं जपेत्
Meditating on the yellow goddess, one should recite the mantra a hundred thousand times in the midst of milk.
मधुरत्रितयाक्तैः स्यादाकर्षो लवर्णैर्ध्रुवम्
By the utterance of the threefold sweetness, attraction is surely achieved with the syllables of 'la'.
ताललोणहरिद्राभिर्द्विषां संस्तंभनं भवेत्
With tal, salt, and turmeric, the restraint of enemies is accomplished.
श्मशाने पावके हुत्वा नाशयेदचिरादरीन्
By offering oblations in the cremation ground's fire, enemies are destroyed without delay.
गृहधूमं चितावह्नौ हुत्वा प्रोच्चाटयेद्रिपून्
By offering the smoke of the house into the funeral pyre's fire, enemies are expelled.
जुहोति सो ऽखिलान् रोगान् शमयेद्दर्शनादपि
He who offers oblations dispels all diseases, even by mere sight.
ब्रह्मचर्यरतो लक्षं जपेदखिलसिद्धये
Devoted to celibacy, one should recite the mantra a hundred thousand times for the attainment of all accomplishments.
