यक्षाधिपतये तन्द्रीसोपनीतं बलिं ततः
Then, the offering brought by the priest is to be given to the lord of the yakṣas.
दद्यान्नित्यं बलिं तेन मध्यरात्रे चतुष्पथे
One should always offer that oblation at midnight at the crossroads.
ध्रुवो वज्रोदके वर्म फट्सप्तार्णो जलग्रहे
The fixed (mantra) is 'vajrodaka', the armor is 'phaṭ', and the seven-syllabled (mantra) is for taking water.
तारो मायाः भृगुः कर्णोविशुद्धं धर्मवर्मतः
'Tāra', 'Māyā', 'Bhṛgu', 'Karṇa', and 'Viśuddha' are from the armor of Dharma.
कल्पान्तनयनस्वाहा मन्त्र आचमने मतः
The mantra 'kalpāntanayanasvāhā' is prescribed for the act of sipping water.
खरिविद्यायुग्रिजश्व सर्ववान्ते बको ऽब्जवान्
'Kharividyā', 'Yugrija', 'Śva', 'Sarvavānta', 'Baka', and 'Abjavān' (are the mantras to be used).
त्रयोविंशतिवर्णात्मा शिखाया बन्धने मनुः
The mantra composed of twenty-three syllables is for tying the topknot.
नवार्णेनामुना मन्त्री कुर्याद्भूमिविशोधनम्
With this nine-syllabled mantra, the officiant should purify the ground.
हुं फट् स्वाहा गुणेन्द्वर्णो मनुर्विघ्ननिवारणम्
'Huṃ phaṭ svāhā', the syllable of the lord of qualities, is the mantra for removing obstacles.
तदुत्थेनाग्निना देहं दहेत्साद्धस्वपाप्मना
With the fire produced from that, one should burn the body along with all accumulated sins.
पवनेन तदुत्थेन पापभस्म क्षिपेद्भुवि
With the wind arising from that, one should cast the ashes of sin upon the earth.
तदुत्थसुधयादे हं स्वयं वै देवतानिभम्
By means of the nectar arising from that, one should become like a deity oneself.
तारो ऽनन्तो भगुः कर्णो पद्मनाभयुतो बली
'Tāra', 'Ananta', 'Bhagu', 'Karṇa', and 'Padmanābha' together are powerful.
अमुना द्वादशार्णेन रचयेन्मण्डलं शुभम्
With this twelve-syllabled mantra, one should construct an auspicious maṇḍala.
सदीर्घस्मृतिरौ साक्षौ महाकालो भगान्वितः
'Sadīrghasmṛti', 'Rau', 'Sākṣa', 'Mahākāla', and 'Bhaga' are included.
तारः पाशः परा स्वाहा पञ्चार्णश्चित्तशोधने
'Tāra', 'Pāśa', 'Parā', 'Svāhā', and the five-syllabled (mantra) are for the purification of the mind.
सेंदुभ्यां मासतो माया भुवं संसृज्य भूगृहम्
After two months from the new and full moon, having created the earth with the house of earth through māyā,
वह्निमण्डलमभ्यर्च्य महाशङ्खं निधापयेत्
Having worshipped the circle of fire, one should place the great conch.
प्रक्षालितं भृगुर्दण्डी त्रिमूर्तीन्तुयुतं पठेत्
Having washed it, Bhṛgu, holding a staff, should recite that which is joined with the three forms.
दीर्घत्रयान्विता माया काली सृष्टिः सदीर्घसः
Māyā, endowed with three long syllables, is Kālī; the creation is with a long 'sa.'
एकाधशार्णः प्रथमो महाशङ्खार्चने मनुः
The first mantra for worship of the great conch has eleven syllables.
तारिण्यन्ते कपालाय नमोन्तो द्वादशाक्षरः
At the end, for Tāriṇī and Kapāla, bowing, is the twelve-syllable (mantra).
लोकपालाय हृदयं तृतीयो ऽयं शिवाक्षरः
For the guardian of the worlds, the heart; this is the third Śiva-syllable.
पालाय सर्वाधाराय सर्वः सर्वोद्भवस्तथा
For the protector, for the support of all, for all, and likewise for the origin of all.
रुधिरा रतिदीर्घा च वायुः शुभ्रानिलः सुरा
Blood, long-lasting delight, wind, pure air, and the gods.
तुर्यो रसेषु वर्णो ऽयं महाशङ्खप्रपूजने
The fourth, among the essences, is this syllable, in the great conch worship.
प्रपूरयेत्सुधाबुद्ध्या गन्धपुष्पाक्षतादिभिः
One should fill (the conch) with nectar-like understanding, with fragrance, flowers, rice grains, and the like.
वाक्सत्यपद्मागगने रेफआनुग्रहबिन्दुयुक्
With speech, truth, lotus, sky, and the letter 'repha' joined with the grace-dot.
अष्टकृत्वो ऽमुना मन्त्री मन्त्रयेत्प्रयतो जलम्
The priest, with concentration, should recite this mantra eight times over the water.
तत्र वृत्ताष्टषट्कोणं ध्यात्वा देवीं विचिन्तयेत्
There, meditating on a circle with eight and six angles, one should contemplate the goddess.
