When ignorance is dispelled, the true nature of reality shines forth, just as it existed before, firmly established. With the destruction of ignorance, pure Brahman reveals itself to those who are wise. This Brahman dwells within all beings as the inner ruler, present in every heart. Among those who possess knowledge, the foremost perceive that which is supreme beyond the supreme, the most pure essence. This ancient, primeval Person is celebrated as the Sound-Brahman, the eternal vibration underlying all creation. He is blissful, pure, peaceful, and is known as the Supreme Brahman. Changeless, unborn, and immaculate, he remains the Supreme Brahman. For those scorched by the trials of worldly existence, the realization of this Brahman is like a shower of nectar, bringing relief and joy. This essence is of the nature of sound, incomparable, and established above the half-syllable. The syllable 'ma' embodies Rudra, while the half-syllable represents the Supreme. Wise ones, their conjunction leads to the realization of the Supreme Brahman. The relationship between the signifier and the signified, O twice-born, is understood through figurative usage in both. By joining with its practice, seekers attain the highest liberation. One should meditate within oneself on a radiance as pure as ten million suns. Whatever removes sin should be contemplated in the heart. Knowing this, the lord of yogis attains the highest liberation, freed from all sins and reaching the same world as Hari. At this point, a seeker asks, “O all-knowing one, whatever I ask, let that be told.” The reply comes: “He with whom the Lord of all is pleased, his devotion is eternal. Tell me of this, O ocean of compassion.” The sage instructs, “Worship with your whole being, O brahmin, if you desire liberation. Even the rākṣasas do not look upon a man devoted to Viṣṇu. For him, the highest goods are accomplished; those devoted with bhakti are superior because of that.” The hands engaged in worship of Viṣṇu are fruitful; the tongue devoted to chanting Hari’s names is noble in the eyes of the virtuous. There is no reality equal to the guru, nor any deity higher than Keśava. In this insubstantial world, truly, the worship of Hari is real. Cut through the bonds of existence with the axe of devotion to Hari and become supremely happy. Those ears filled with the essence of his stories are honored by the world. “O Nārada,” the sage says, “constantly worship the Lord who dwells in the midst of the sky. He cannot be pointed out or seen by those whose minds are unpurified. The eternal indweller is called ‘awake’ by the wise. When the self is devoid of deep sleep, it is said to be ‘dreaming.’ When the self is without its own form, free from merit and demerit, then the Lord, composed of the supreme Brahman, is called ‘deep sleep.’” “O best of Brahmins, therefore worship Janārdana, who is like lightning, flickering. The Lord of the worlds is pleased only with the one in whom he abides. The Lord of the universe, the slayer of Madhu and Kaiṭabha, is pleased with him. Through association with the good and absence of ego, the Lord of Lakṣmī is pleased with him. He who always acts thus is indeed pleasing to Adhokṣaja.” Thus, the path to liberation and the realization of the Supreme is laid out: through devotion, purity of heart, meditation on the radiant Brahman, and constant worship of the Lord, one attains supreme happiness, freedom from sin, and the highest state, pleasing to the Lord himself.
