ಗಹಟೋದರ, ಮಹಾಪಾರ್ಶ್ವ, ಕ್ರಥನ, ಪಿಠರ, ವಿಶ್ವರೂಪ, ಸುರೂಪ, ಸ್ವಬಲ ಮತ್ತು ಮಹಾಬಲ ಎಂಬ ಮಹಾಶಕ್ತಿಶಾಲಿ ದೈತ್ಯರು, ದಶಗ್ರೀವ, ವಾಲಿ, ಮಹಾಸುರ ಮೆಘವಾಸಾ, ಘಟಾಸ್ಯ, ಅಕಂಪನ, ಪ್ರಜನ ಮತ್ತು ಇಂದ್ರತಾಪನ ಎಂಬ ಅನೇಕ ದೈತ್ಯ-ದಾನವರು—all these mighty beings, adorned with blazing earrings and garlands, eloquent and steadfast in their vows—gathered together. They were all heroic, blessed with boons that freed them from death, and many more such warriors attended upon ಹಿರಣ್ಯಕಶಿಪು, their lord. These great asuras, decorated with divine ornaments, worshipped the noble-minded ಹಿರಣ್ಯಕಶಿಪು, arriving in radiant aerial chariots of various shapes, shining like fire. Each one, with a body resembling that of ಮಹೇಂದ್ರ, adorned with wondrous armlets, sons of ದಿತಿ, beautifully decorated, revered him in every possible way. In that divine assembly, the asuras, massive as mountains, all with golden bodies, shone with brilliance like the sun. Never before had anyone heard or seen the majesty of ಹಿರಣ್ಯಕಶಿಪು, the lion among daityas; such was the greatness of that exalted soul. Upon a platform adorned with gold and silver, with gem-studded avenues, the lord of beasts surveyed the assembly, radiant with windows inlaid with celestial gems. He saw the son of ದಿತಿ, his body adorned with pure golden garlands, shining with the brilliance of the sun, attended by thousands and hundreds of daityas. Then, at that moment, a great-souled being arrived, like the wheel of time, his lion form concealed, like fire hidden by ashes. ಪ್ರಹ್ಲಾದ, the powerful son of ಹಿರಣ್ಯಕಶಿಪು, with divine sight, saw the lion-form god who had arrived. Seeing that unprecedented form, resembling a golden mountain, all the danavas were astonished, along with ಹಿರಣ್ಯಕಶಿಪು himself. "O mighty-armed king, origin of the daityas, neither heard nor seen by us is this lion-form," they exclaimed. "What is this divine form, emerging from the unmanifest, dreadful and capable of destroying demons? It seems to shatter my mind," wondered ಹಿರಣ್ಯಕಶಿಪು. Within this form reside the gods, the oceans, and all the rivers, as well as the ಹಿಮಾಲಯ, ಪರಿಯಾತ್ರ, and all the other ancestral mountains. The moon with its stars, the sun with the ವಸುಗಳು, ಕುಬೇರ, ವರুণ, ಯಮ, ಇಂದ್ರ, and the lord of ಶಚಿ are all present here. The ಮರುತಗಳು, divine ಗಂಧರ್ವರು, ascetic sages, ನಾಗಗಳು, ಯಕ್ಷಗಳು, ಪಿಶಾಚಗಳು, and rakshasas of terrible might are all within it. ಬ್ರಹ್ಮ, the god, and ಪಶುಪತಿ roam upon its forehead, along with all immovable and movable beings. "You, together with us and all the hosts of demons, are surrounded by hundreds of flying chariots, and your assembly is likewise present. All three worlds, O king, and the eternal laws of the realms, are seen within this ನರಸಿಂಹ, as is the entire universe. Here are ಪ್ರಜಾಪತಿ, the great-souled ಮನು, the planets, yogic powers, trees, the time of calamity, steadfastness, intelligence, pleasure, truth, austerity, and self-restraint. Sanatkumara of great renown, all the gods, all the sages, wrath, desire, joy, righteousness, delusion, and all the ancestors are here." Hearing ಪ್ರಹ್ಲಾದ's words, ಹಿರಣ್ಯಕಶಿಪು, the lord, spoke to all the danavas and their leaders: "Let this lion be seized, possessing an unprecedented form. If there is any doubt, let him be slain, for he roams the forest." All the hosts of danavas, joyful, surrounded the lion of terrible prowess and sought to frighten him with their strength. Then ನರಸಿಂಹ, of immense power, released a lion's roar and shattered that divine assembly, his mouth wide like Death. As the assembly was being destroyed, ಹಿರಣ್ಯಕಶಿಪು himself hurled weapons at the lion, his eyes wild with anger. He used all weapons—the dreadful staff-mantra, the fierce time-wheel, and the supreme ವಿಷ್ಣು-ಚಕ್ರ. He unleashed the extremely fierce weapon of the grandsire, the great fire that burns the three worlds, and the wondrous thunderbolt, both dry and wet. He used the fierce and terrible trident, the skeleton, the mace, the bewildering, the drying, the burning, and the lamentation weapons. He used the wind weapon, the churning weapon, the skull weapon, the servitor weapon, the irresistible spear, and the Krauncha weapon as well. The Brahmashiras missile, Soma missile, Shishira missile, Kampana and Shatana missiles, and also the Tvastra and Subhairava missiles—he unleashed them all. The Kaalamudgara, unshakable Akshobhya, mighty Tapana, Samvartana and Mohana, and likewise the supreme Maya-dhara; Gandharva missile, beloved Asiratna, Nandaka, Prasvapana, Pramathana, excellent Varuna missile, and the Pashupata missile, whose course none can withstand. Hayashiras missile, Brahma missile, Narayana missile, Indra missile, and the wondrous Serpent missile; the invincible Paishacha missile, Shoshana, Shamana, mighty Bhavana, Prasthapana, and Vikampana—all these divine missiles, at that time, Hiranyakashipu released against Narasimha, blazing like offerings cast into a shining fire. With these blazing missiles, the foremost of asuras enveloped the lion, like the sun with its rays envelops Himavat in the heat of summer. Then, the ocean of the daityas' army, stirred by the wind of wrath, in a moment flooded forth, like the sea overwhelming Mount Mainaka. Thus, in the divine assembly, amidst the splendor of daityas and danavas, the arrival of Narasimha and the ensuing battle unfolded, with Hiranyakashipu and his mighty hosts unleashing all their power against the lion-form god.
