The first mountain, shining like the sun, is called Sumanā; the middle one is yellow, and then comes a mountain made of pots.
Named Sarvasukha, endowed with divine herbs, is the third mountain; and the golden mountain, resembling the wings of a bee, is also there.
There is a great and divine mountain named Rohita, truly a splendid peak; the land there is pleasant, skillful, and brings forth happiness and well-being.
The third Rohita, renowned as Rohiṇa, is where many jewels are found, and Indra himself protects them.
With Prajāpati present and pleased, he himself arranges everything; there, clouds do not rain, nor is there cold or heat as elsewhere.
In the three islands, there is no talk of castes or life-stages; there are no planets, nor is there a moon, nor envy, jealousy, or fear.
There, plants, waters, and mountain springs abound; food of six tastes is present for them, appearing on its own.
Among them there is neither low nor high, neither greed nor possession; the people are healthy, strong, and enjoy perfect happiness.
For thirty thousand years, they remain established in mental perfection, enjoying happiness, long life, beauty, virtue, and sovereignty.
At the ends of Śālmala, in all three islands, this should be understood; the auspicious order of the islands at the ends of Śālmala has been explained.
The island is perfectly round, encircled like a wheel, surrounded by the Suroda Ocean, which is twice its size.
Now I will describe Gomedaka, the sixth island, O ascetics; the Suroda Ocean is surrounded by Gomedaka.
Its extent is twice that of Śālmala; in that island, two mountains are to be known, both remarkable.
The first is the mountain named Sumanā, composed of natural collyrium; the second is called Kumuda, filled with all medicinal herbs.
It is splendid, made of pure gold, and greatly revered; Gomedaka is surrounded by the ocean of sweet water.
With the sixth ocean, which is twice the size of Suroda, there are the vast Dhātakī and Kumuda, the sons of Havya.
The first region is called Saumana, known as the Dhātakī section; that first part is remembered as belonging to the Dhātakī.
The region called Gomeda is remembered as all-blissful; after the second, Kumuda, comes the second region of Kumuda.
These two mountains are round, and the rest are all lofty; to the east of that island stands the Sumanā mountain.
It stands with its bases stretching from east to west as far as the ocean; in the western half is Kumuda, situated in the same way.
By these mountain bases, that region is divided in two; the southern half of the continent is called Dhātakīkhanda.
Kumuda is the excellent second region to the north of it; these two populous areas are the expanse of Gomeda.
Next, I will describe the seventh and most excellent continent; its ocean is of sugarcane juice, and it is twice the size of Gomeda.
Encircling it stands the continent Puṣkara, surrounded by lotus flowers; within Puṣkara is the splendid mountain Citrasānu, great and colorful.
With peaks adorned by gems, formed from networks of stone, the great mountain Citrasānu stands in the eastern half of the continent.
It is spread over twenty-seven thousand circular leagues, and rises upwards for twenty-four yojanas, possessing great strength.
In the western half of the continent, the mountain Mānasa stands enclosed, near the shore, rising like the former moon.
It rises fifty-one and a half thousand yojanas high; its son Mahāvīta is the guardian of the western half.
In the eastern half of the mountain, the region is also considered divided in two; Puṣkara is surrounded by an ocean of sweet water.
In breadth and circumference, it is twice the size of Gomeda; in those regions, humans live for thirty thousand years.
