Since sesame, kusa grass, and beans arose from the sweat of Vishnu's body at the slaying of Madhu, therefore, let them bring peace here.
Since sesame alone is used for offerings to gods and ancestors, O lord of mountains, sesame mountain, I bow to you; may you uplift me.
Thus, having made the offering, whoever gives the finest mountain of sesame attains the Vaishnava realm, where return is exceedingly rare.
He obtains long life, delights with sons and grandsons, and, honored by ancestors, gods, and gandharvas, ascends to heaven.
Now, I will explain the supreme mountain of cotton; by giving it, a person always attains the highest state.
A cotton mountain is best with twenty measures, middling with ten, and lowest with five; one with little wealth should give according to his means, free from miserliness.
O foremost sage, just as with the grain mountain, having prepared everything, one should give this at dawn, reciting the prescribed words.
Since you are always the covering of all worlds here, I bow to you, O cotton mountain; be the destroyer of the mass of sins.
Whoever gives the lordly cotton mountain in the presence of Shiva dwells in Rudra's realm for an age, and then becomes a king here.
Next, I will explain the supreme mountain of clarified butter, radiant, immortal, divine, and destroyer of great sins.
A mountain of ghee is best with twenty jars, middling with ten, and lowest with five.
Even one with little wealth should make, according to the rules, a mountain with two jars, and likewise arrange the supporting mountains in four parts.
He should place vessels of rice and paddy atop the jars, arranging them compactly and upright, as is proper and pleasing.
He should wrap them with white cloths, decorate with sugarcane stalks and fruits, and perform the remaining rites as with the grain mountain.
After proper consecration, and likewise worship and offering, at dawn he should present it to the teacher, and, with a peaceful mind, give the supporting mountains to the priests.
Since ghee arises from the union of immortal radiance, may Shankara, the universal soul, be pleased here by the flame of ghee.
Since Brahman, made of radiance, resides in ghee, know it to be present in the form of the ghee mountain; therefore, protect us always.
Whoever gives the supreme mountain of ghee by this method, even if burdened with great sins, attains the realm of Shiva.
He enjoys, together with his ancestors, in a celestial chariot adorned with swans, cranes, and bells, surrounded by apsaras, siddhas, and vidyadharas, until the dissolution of creation.
Next, I will explain the supreme mountain of gems; a mountain with a thousand pearls is considered unsurpassed.
The medium mountain is five hundred, the inferior is said to be three hundred; the transverse mountains should be made on all sides with a fourth part.
Gandhamādana should be fashioned by the learned with vajra and gomed gems on the east, with indranīla stones on the south, and adorned with padmarāga.
Vimalācala should be constructed at the west with a mixture of vaidūrya and vidruma, and at the north, it should be set with padmarāga and gold.
Everything here also should be arranged just like the grain-mountains; in the same way, one should perform the invocation and make the trees and deities of gold.
One should worship with flowers, fragrances, and the like, in the morning, free from envy; as before, the teacher should recite these mantras to the priests.
When all the hosts of gods are established in all the jewels, and you too are always made of jewels, obeisance to you, eternal mountain.
Because Hari is always pleased by the giving of jewels, therefore, O mountain, protect us always by the giving of jewels.
Whoever gives a jewel-made mountain according to this method attains the world of Viṣṇu, worshipped by the lord of immortals.
For as long as a hundred kalpas with a fraction, the king dwells here, endowed with beauty, health, and virtues, and becomes lord of the seven continents.
Whatever sin, such as the killing of a brāhmaṇa, is committed here or elsewhere, all that is destroyed, just as a mountain struck by a thunderbolt.
