विष्णुदेहसमुद्भूतं यस्मादारोग्यवर्धनम् तस्मात्पर्वतरूपेण पाहि संसारसागरात्
Since it arises from the body of Vishnu and increases health, therefore, in the form of a mountain, protect me from the ocean of worldly existence.
अनेन विधिना यस्तु दद्याल्लवणपर्वतम् उमालोके वसेत्कल्पं ततो याति परां गतिम्
Whoever gives a Salt Mountain according to this procedure dwells in Uma's world for a kalpa, and then attains the highest state.
अतः परं प्रवक्ष्यामि गुडपर्वतमुत्तमम् यत्प्रदानान्नरः स्वर्गम् आप्नोति सुरपूजितम्
Now I shall further explain the excellent Mountain of Jaggery, by giving which a man attains heaven, honored by the gods.
उत्तमो दशभिर्भारैर् मध्यमः पञ्चभिर्मतः त्रिभिर्भारैः कनिष्ठः स्यात् तदर्धेनाल्पवित्तवान्
The best is made with ten bhāras, the middling is considered to be with five, the lowest with three bhāras, and one with little wealth should make it with half that.
तद्वदामन्त्रणं पूजां हेमवृक्षसुरार्चनम् विष्कम्भपर्वतांस्तद्वत् सरांसि वनदेवताः
In the same way, one should perform invitation, worship, adoration of the golden tree, the honoring of mountain guardians, lakes, and forest deities.
होमजागरणं तद्वल् लोकपालाधिवासनम् धान्यपर्वतवत् कुर्याद् इमं मन्त्रमुदीरयेत्
Likewise, one should conduct fire offerings and night vigils, and establish the guardians of the worlds, just as with the mountain of grain; recite this mantra:
यथा देवेषु विश्वात्मा प्रवरो ऽयं जनार्दनः सामवेदस्तु वेदानां महादेवस्तु योगिनाम्
Just as among the gods, Janardana, the Soul of All, is foremost; among the Vedas, the Sama Veda is supreme; among yogis, Mahadeva is preeminent—
प्रणवः सर्वमन्त्राणां नारीणां पार्वती यथा तथा रसानां प्रवरः सदैवेक्षुरसो मतः
Among all mantras, the syllable Om is supreme; among women, Parvati; so too, among all juices, sugarcane juice is always considered the best.
मम तस्मात्परां लक्ष्मीं गुडपर्वत देहि वै यस्मात्सौभाग्यदायिन्या भ्राता त्वं गुडपर्वत निवासश्चापि पार्वत्यास् तस्माच्छान्तिं प्रयच्छ मे
Therefore, O mountain of jaggery, grant me the highest fortune, for you are the brother of the giver of prosperity, and you dwell with Parvati; thus, bestow peace upon me.
अनेन विधिना यस्तु दद्याद्गुडमयं गिरिम् पूज्यमानः स गन्धर्वैर् गौरीलोके महीयते
Whoever, following this method, gives a mountain made of jaggery, being honored by the Gandharvas, is exalted in the realm of Gauri.
ततः कल्पशतान्ते तु सप्तद्वीपाधिपो भवेत् आयुरारोग्यसम्पन्नः शत्रुभिश्चापराजितः
Then, at the end of a hundred ages, he becomes lord of the seven continents, endowed with long life, health, and unconquered by enemies.
अथ पापहरं वक्ष्ये सुवर्णाचलमुत्तमम् यस्य प्रदानाद्भवनं वैरिञ्चं याति मानवः
Now I will declare the supreme golden mountain, the remover of sins, by whose offering a person attains the abode of Brahma.
उत्तमः पलसाहस्रो मध्यमः पञ्चभिः शतैः तदर्धेनाधमस्तद्वद् अल्पवित्तो ऽपि शक्तितः दद्यादेकपलादूर्ध्वं यथाशक्त्या विमत्सरः
The best is a thousand palas in weight, the middling is five hundred, the lowest is half that; even one of little means should give at least one pala, according to his ability, without envy.
धान्यपर्वतवत्सर्वं विदध्यान्मुनिपुंगव विष्कम्भशैलास्तद्वच्च ऋत्विग्भ्यः प्रतिपादयेत्
Everything should be done as with the mountain of grain, O best of sages; likewise, the supporting mountains should be given to the officiating priests.
नमस्ते ब्रह्मबीजाय ब्रह्मगर्भाय ते नमः यस्मादनन्तफलदस् तस्मात्पाहि शिलोच्चय
Salutations to you, O seed of Brahma, O womb of Brahma; since you grant endless fruits, therefore, O heap of stone, protect me.
यस्मादग्नेरपत्यं त्वं यस्मात्पुण्यं जगत्पते हेमपर्वतरूपेण तस्मात्पाहि नगोत्तम
Since you are born of Agni, since you are meritorious, O Lord of the world, and take the form of a golden mountain, therefore, O best of mountains, protect me.
अनेन विधिना यस्तु दद्यात्कनकपर्वतम् स याति परमं ब्रह्मलोकमानन्दकारकम् तत्र कल्पशतं तिष्ठेत् ततो याति परां गतिम्
Whoever, following this method, gives a golden mountain, attains the supreme Brahma-world, the bringer of bliss; there he remains for a hundred ages, then attains the highest state.
अतः परं प्रवक्ष्यामि तिलशैलं विधानतः यत्प्रदानान्नरो याति विष्णुलोकं सनातनम्
Next, I will explain the prescribed method for the sesame mountain, by whose offering a man attains the eternal world of Vishnu.
उत्तमो दशभिर् द्रोणैर् मध्यमः पञ्चभिः स्मृतः त्रिभिः कनिष्ठो विप्रेन्द्र तिलशैलः प्रकीर्तितः
The best is made with ten droṇas, the middling with five, and the lowest with three, O best of Brahmins; such is the sesame mountain.
पूर्ववच्चापरान्सर्वान् विष्कम्भानभितो गिरीन् दानमन्त्रान् प्रवक्ष्यामि यथावन्मुनिपुंगव
As before, all the surrounding supporting mountains should be made; I will now declare the donation mantras for them, O best of sages.
यस्मान्मधुवधे विष्णोर् देहस्वेदसमुद्भवाः तिलाः कुशाश्च माषाश्च तस्माच्छान्त्यै भवत्विह
Since sesame, kusa grass, and beans arose from the sweat of Vishnu's body at the slaying of Madhu, therefore, let them bring peace here.
हव्ये कव्ये च यस्माच्च तिला एवाभिरक्षणम् भवादुद्धर शैलेन्द्र तिलाचल नमो ऽस्तु ते
Since sesame alone is used for offerings to gods and ancestors, O lord of mountains, sesame mountain, I bow to you; may you uplift me.
इत्यामन्त्र्य च यो दद्यात् तिलाचलमनुत्तमम् स वैष्णवं पदं याति पुनरावृत्तिदुर्लभम्
Thus, having made the offering, whoever gives the finest mountain of sesame attains the Vaishnava realm, where return is exceedingly rare.
दीर्घायुष्यं समाप्नोति पुत्रपौत्रैश्च मोदते पितृभिर्देवगन्धर्वैः पूज्यमानो दिवं व्रजेत्
He obtains long life, delights with sons and grandsons, and, honored by ancestors, gods, and gandharvas, ascends to heaven.
अथातः सम्प्रवक्ष्यामि कार्पासाचलमुत्तमम् यत्प्रदानान्नरो नित्यम् आप्नोति परमं पदम्
Now, I will explain the supreme mountain of cotton; by giving it, a person always attains the highest state.
कार्पासपर्वतस् तद्वद् विंशद्भारैर् इहोत्तमः दशभिर्मध्यमः प्रोक्तः पञ्चभिस्त्वधमः स्मृतः भारेणाल्पधनो दद्याद् वित्तशाठ्यविवर्जितः
A cotton mountain is best with twenty measures, middling with ten, and lowest with five; one with little wealth should give according to his means, free from miserliness.
धान्यपर्वतवत्सर्वम् आसाद्य मुनिपुंगव प्रभातायां तु शर्वर्यां दद्यादिदमुदीरयेत्
O foremost sage, just as with the grain mountain, having prepared everything, one should give this at dawn, reciting the prescribed words.
त्वमेवावरणं यस्माल् लोकानामिह सर्वदा कार्पासाद्रे नमस्तुभ्यम् अघौघध्वंसनो भव
Since you are always the covering of all worlds here, I bow to you, O cotton mountain; be the destroyer of the mass of sins.
इति कार्पासशैलेन्द्रं यो दद्याच्छर्वसंनिधौ रुद्रलोके वसेत्कल्पं ततो राजा भवेदिह
Whoever gives the lordly cotton mountain in the presence of Shiva dwells in Rudra's realm for an age, and then becomes a king here.
अतः परं प्रवक्ष्यामि घृताचलमनुत्तमम् तेजो ऽमृतमयं दिव्यं महापातकनाशनम्
Next, I will explain the supreme mountain of clarified butter, radiant, immortal, divine, and destroyer of great sins.
