क्षीरं शाकं च दध्यन्नम् इण्डर्यो ऽशोकवर्तिकाः माघादिक्रमशो दद्याद् एतानि करकोपरि
Milk, cooked vegetables, curd-rice, fried cakes, ashoka sticks, and indra cakes should be given, month by month from Magha onwards, placing them on the vessel.
कुमुदा माधवी गौरी रम्भा भद्रा जया शिवा उमा रतिः सती तद्वन् मङ्गला रतिलालसा
Kumuda, Madhavi, Gauri, Rambha, Bhadra, Jaya, Shiva, Uma, Rati, Sati, Mangala, and Ratilalasa—
क्रमान्माघादि सर्वत्र प्रीयतामिति कीर्तयेत् सर्वत्र पञ्चगव्येन प्राशनं समुदाहृतम् उपवासी भवेन्नित्यम् अशक्ते नक्तमिष्यते
One should recite, month by month from Magha onwards, 'May all be pleased.' Everywhere, taking Panchagavya is prescribed. One should always fast; if unable, night-meals are permitted.
पुनर्माघे तु सम्प्राप्ते शर्करां करकोपरि कृत्वा तु काञ्चनीं गौरीं पञ्चरत्नसमन्विताम्
Again, when Magha arrives, one should place sugar on the vessel and a golden image of Gauri adorned with five gems.
हैमीमङ्गुष्ठमात्रां च साक्षसूत्रकमण्डलुम् चतुर्भुजामिन्दुयुतां सितनेत्रपटावृताम्
A golden image the size of a thumb, with a rosary and water-pot, four-armed, adorned with the moon, and wrapped in white-eyed cloth.
तद्वद्गोमिथुनं शुक्लं सुवर्णास्यं सिताम्बरम् सवस्त्रभाजनं दद्याद् भवानी प्रीयतामिति
Likewise, a pair of white cows with golden faces and white garments, along with vessels and clothing, should be given, saying, 'May Bhavani be pleased.'
अनेन विधिना यस्तु रसकल्याणिनीव्रतम् कुर्यात्स सर्वपापेभ्यस् तत्क्षणादेव मुच्यते
Whoever performs the Rasakalyanini vow according to this procedure is instantly freed from all sins.
नवार्बुदसहस्रं तु न दुःखी जायते नरः सुवर्णकमलं गौरि मासि मासि ददन्नरः अग्निष्टोमसहस्रस्य यत्फलं तदवाप्नुयात्
A man does not experience suffering for nine thousand crores of years; giving a golden lotus to Gauri each month, he attains the fruit of a thousand Agnishtoma sacrifices.
नारी वा कुरुते या तु कुमारी वा वरानने विधवा या तथा नारी सापि तत्फलमाप्नुयात् सौभाग्यारोग्यसम्पन्ना गौरीलोके महीयते
Whether a woman, a maiden, or a widow performs this, she too attains that result, endowed with good fortune and health, and is honored in the world of Gauri.
इति पठति शृणोति श्रावयेद्यः प्रसङ्गात् कलिकलुषविमुक्तः पार्वतीलोकमेति मतिमपि च नराणां यो ददाति प्रियार्थं विबुधपतिविमाने नायकः स्यादमोघः
Whoever recites, hears, or causes this to be heard, is freed from the taint of Kali and attains the world of Parvati; and whoever gives this for the sake of love becomes a leader in the celestial chariots, unfailing.
तथैवान्यां प्रवक्ष्यामि तृतीयां पापनाशिनीम् नाम्ना च लोके विख्याताम् आर्द्रानन्दकरीमिमाम्
Likewise, I will declare another, a third vow that destroys sin, known in the world as Ardranandakari.
यदा शुक्लतृतीयायाम् आषाढर्क्षं भवेत्क्वचित् ब्रह्मर्क्षं वा मृगर्क्षं वा हस्तो मूलमथापि वा दर्भगन्धोदकैः स्नानं तदा सम्यक्समाचरेत्
When, on the bright third lunar day, the Ashadha constellation, or Brahma, Mriga, Hasta, or Mula constellation occurs, one should bathe properly with water scented with darbha grass.
शुक्लमाल्याम्बरधरः शुक्लगन्धानुलेपनः भवानीमर्चयेद्भक्त्या शुक्लपुष्पैः सुगन्धिभिः महादेवेन सहिताम् उपविष्टां महासने
Wearing white garlands and garments, anointed with white fragrance, one should worship Bhavani with devotion, with fragrant white flowers, seated together with Mahadeva on a great seat.
वासुदेव्यै नमः पादौ शंकराय नमो हरम् जङ्घे शोकविनाशिन्यै आनन्दाय नमः प्रभो
One should say: 'Obeisance to Vasudevi at the feet, to Shankara at the thighs, to the destroyer of sorrow at the shanks, to Ananda at the lord.'
रम्भायै पूजयेदूरू शिवाय च पिनाकिनः अदित्यै च कटिं देव्याः शूलिनः शूलपाणये
One should worship the thighs for Rambhā, the waist for Śiva the wielder of the bow, the hips for the goddess Ādityā, and the hands for Śiva who holds the trident.
माधव्यै च तथा नाभिम् अथ शम्भोर्भवाय च स्तनावानन्दकारिण्यै शंकरस्येन्दुधारिणे
Likewise, the navel for Mādhavī, the breasts for Bhavā, the bringer of joy, and for Śaṃkara, the bearer of the moon.
उत्कण्ठिन्यै नमः कण्ठं नीलकण्ठाय वै हरम् करावुत्पलधारिण्यै रुद्राय च जगत्पते बाहू च परिरम्भिण्यै त्रिशूलाय हरस्य च
Homage to Utkaṇṭhinī at the throat, to Nīlakaṇṭha Hara; to the lotus-holding one at the hands, to Rudra, lord of the world; the arms to Parirambhiṇī, and to Hara, the wielder of the trident.
देव्या मुखं विलासिन्यै वृषेशाय पुनर्विभोः स्मितं सस्मेरलीलायै विश्ववक्त्राय वै विभो
The face of the goddess to Vilāsinī, to Vṛṣeśa, the lord again; the smile to the playful, smiling one, to Viśvavaktra, the universal-faced lord.
नेत्रे मदनवासिन्यै विश्वधाम्ने त्रिशूलिनः भ्रुवौ नृत्यप्रियायै तु ताण्डवेशाय शूलिनः
The eyes to Madanavāsinī, to Viśvadhāmā, the trident-bearer; the brows to Nṛtyapriyā, and to Tāṇḍaveśa, the trident-holder.
देव्या ललाटमिन्द्राण्यै हव्यवाहाय वै विभोः स्वाहायै मुकुटं देव्या विभोर्गङ्गाधराय वै
The forehead of the goddess to Indrāṇī, to Havyavāha, the lord; the crown to Svāhā, and to Gaṅgādhara, the lord who bears Gaṅgā.
विश्वकायौ विश्वमुखौ विश्वपादकरौ शिवौ प्रसन्नवदनौ वन्दे पार्वतीपरमेश्वरौ
I bow to Śiva and Pārvatī, whose forms, faces, feet, and hands are universal, whose faces are gracious.
एवं सम्पूज्य विधिवद् अग्रतः शिवयोः पुनः पद्मोत्पलानि रजसा नानावर्णेन कारयेत्
Thus, having worshipped properly before Śiva and Pārvatī, one should make lotuses and blue lilies from colored powder.
शङ्खचक्रे सकटके स्वस्तिकाङ्कुशचामरान् यावन्तः पांसवस्तत्र रजसः पतिता भुवि तावद्वर्षसहस्राणि शिवलोके महीयते
Conches, discs, bracelets, svastikas, goads, and fly-whisks—however many shapes of powder fall to the ground, for that many thousands of years one is honored in Śiva's world.
चत्वारि घृतपात्राणि सहिरण्यानि शक्तितः दत्त्वा द्विजाय करकम् उदकान्नसमन्वितम् प्रतिपक्षं चतुर्मासं यावदेतन्निवेदयेत्
Four vessels of ghee with gold, according to ability, should be given to a brāhmaṇa, along with a ladle and water mixed with rice, every fortnight for four months.
ततस्तु चतुरो मासान् पूर्ववत्करकोपरि चत्वारि सक्तुपात्राणि तिलपात्राण्यतः परम्
Then, for another four months as before, on the ladle, four vessels of flour and then vessels of sesame should be offered.
गन्धोदकं पुष्पवारि चन्दनं कुङ्कुमोदकम् अपक्वं दधि दुग्धं च गोशृङ्गोदकमेव च
Sandalwood water, flower water, sandal paste, saffron water, uncurdled yogurt, milk, and water from a cow's horn should be given.
पिष्टोदकं तथा वारि कुष्ठचूर्णान्वितं पुनः उशीरसलिलं तद्वद् यवचूर्णोदकं पुनः
Flour-water, likewise water mixed with kuṣṭha powder, water with uśīra grass, and similarly barley flour water should be offered.
तिलोदकं च संप्राश्य स्वपेन्मार्गशिरादिषु मासेषु पक्षद्वितयं प्राशनं समुदाहृतम्
Sesame water should be tasted, and one should fast during the months from Mārgaśīrṣa onward; in each fortnight, the tasting is prescribed.
सर्वत्र शुक्लपुष्पाणि प्रशस्तानि सदार्चने दानकाले च सर्वत्र मन्त्रमेतमुदीरयेत्
White flowers are always commendable for worship everywhere; at the time of giving, this mantra should always be recited.
गौरी मे प्रीयतां नित्यम् अघनाशाय मङ्गला सौभाग्यायास्तु ललिता भवानी सर्वसिद्धये
"May Gaurī always be pleased with me, the remover of sin, auspicious, may Lalitā Bhavānī grant good fortune and all accomplishments."
