मध्ये यथास्वं मांसाङ्गां मङ्गलां कुमुदां सतीम् रुद्रं च मध्ये संस्थाप्य ललितां कर्णिकोपरि कुसुमैरक्षतैर्वार्भिर् नमस्कारेण विन्यसेत्
In the center, place the auspicious, virtuous Kumuda, along with Rudra, and Lalita atop the lotus center, arranging them with flowers, unbroken rice, or water, accompanied by respectful salutations.
गीतमङ्गलनिर्घोषान् कारयित्वा सुवासिनीः पूजयेद्रक्तवासोभी रक्तमाल्यानुलेपनैः सिन्दूरं स्नानचूर्णं च तासां शिरसि पातयेत्
After arranging songs and auspicious sounds, honor the virtuous women, adorning them with red garments, red garlands, and ointments; pour vermilion and bathing powder upon their heads.
सिन्दूरकुङ्कुमस्नानम् अतीवेष्टतमं यतः तथोपदेष्टारमपि पूजयेद्यत्नतो गुरुम् न पूज्यते गुरुर्यत्र सर्वास्तत्राफलाः क्रियाः
Bathing with vermilion and saffron is most desirable; likewise, one should diligently worship the instructor, the guru. Where the guru is not honored, all actions there are fruitless.
नभस्ये पूजयेद्गौरीम् उत्पलैरसितैः सदा बन्धुजीवैराश्वयुजे कार्त्तिके शतपत्त्रकैः
In the month of Nabhasya, worship Gauri always with blue lotuses; with bandhujīva flowers in Āśvayuja and Kārtika, and with lotuses in Śatapattraka.
जातीपुष्पैर्मार्गशीर्षे पौषे पीतैः कुरण्टकैः कुन्दकुङ्कुमपुष्पैस्तु देवीं माघे तु पूजयेत् सिन्दुवारेण जात्या वा फाल्गुने ऽप्यर्चयेदुमाम्
In Mārgaśīrṣa, worship with jasmine flowers; in Pauṣa, with yellow kuraṇṭaka; in Māgha, with kund and saffron flowers; in Māgha, worship the goddess with sinduvāra or jasmine; in Phālguna, also honor Uma.
चैत्रे तु मल्लिकाशोकैर् वैशाखे गन्धपाटलैः ज्येष्ठे कमलमन्दारैर् आषाढे च नवाम्बुजैः कदम्बैरथ मालत्या श्रावणे पूजयेत्सदा
In Caitra, use jasmine and ashoka flowers; in Vaiśākha, fragrant pāṭala; in Jyeṣṭha, lotus and mandāra; in Āṣāḍha, fresh lotuses; in Śrāvaṇa, kadamba and mālatī, always worship with these.
गोमूत्रं गोमयं क्षीरं दधि सर्पिः कुशोदकम् बिल्वपत्त्रार्कपुष्पं च यवान्गोशृङ्गवारि च
Cow urine, cow dung, milk, curd, ghee, water from kuśa grass, bilva leaves, arka flowers, barley, and water from a cow's horn.
पञ्चगव्यं च बिल्वं च प्राशयेत्क्रमशस्तदा एतद्भाद्रपदाद्यं तु प्राशनं समुदाहृतम्
One should sequentially partake of pañcagavya and bilva; this is prescribed as the ritual beginning from Bhādrapada.
प्रतिपक्षं च मिथुनं तृतीयायां वरानने पूजयित्वार्चयेद्भक्त्या वस्त्रमाल्यानुलेपनैः
On the third day of the bright fortnight, O beautiful-faced one, worship and honor with devotion using garments, garlands, and ointments.
पुंसः पीताम्बरे दद्यात् स्त्रियै कौसुम्भवाससी निष्पावाजाजिलवणम् इक्षुदण्डगुडान्वितम् तस्यै दद्यात्फलं पुष्पं सुवर्णोत्पलसंयुतम्
Give yellow garments to a man, and kausumbha-colored clothing to a woman; offer niṣpāva, ajājī, salt, sugarcane, and jaggery. To her, give fruit, flowers, and golden lotuses.
यथा न देवि देवेशस् त्वां परित्यज्य गच्छति तथा माम् उद्धराशेषदुःखसंसारसागरात्
Just as, O goddess, the Lord of gods never abandons you, so lift me from the ocean of endless suffering and worldly existence.
कुमुदा विमलानन्ता भवानी च सुधा शिवा ललिता कमला गौरी सती रम्भाथ पार्वती
Kumuda, Vimalā, Anantā, Bhavānī, Sudhā, Śivā, Lalitā, Kamalā, Gaurī, Satī, Rambhā, and Pārvatī.
नभस्यादिषु मासेषु प्रीयतामित्युदीरयेत् व्रतान्ते शयनं दद्यात् सुवर्णकमलान्वितम्
During the months beginning with Nabhasya, one should pray for her pleasure; at the end of the vow, offer a bed adorned with golden lotuses.
मिथुनानि चतुर्विंशद् दश द्वो च समर्चयेत् अष्टौ षड्वाप्यथ पुनश् चानुमासं समर्चयेत्
One should worship twenty-four pairs, ten pairs, and two pairs; eight or six pairs, and again, each month, worship accordingly.
पूर्वं दत्त्वा तु गुरवे शेषानप्यर्चयेद्बुधः उक्तानन्ततृतीयैषा सदानन्तफलप्रदा
First, offer to the guru; then, the wise should worship the rest. This third-day rite is declared to grant endless fruits.
सर्वपापहरां देवि सौभाग्यारोग्यवर्धिनीम् न चैनां वित्तशाठ्येन कदाचिदपि लङ्घयेत् नरो वा यदि वा नारी वित्तशाठ्यात् पतत्यधः
O goddess, remover of all sins, increaser of fortune and health, one should never transgress her due to greed for wealth; whether man or woman, greed for wealth leads to downfall.
गर्भिणी सूतिका नक्तं कुमारी वाथ रोगिणी यद्यशुद्धा तदान्येन वारयेत्प्रयता स्वयम्
If a woman is pregnant, has just given birth, is fasting at night, is a maiden, or is ill, and thus impure, then another should perform the rite with effort.
इमामनन्तफलदां यस्तृतीयां समाचरेत् कल्पकोटिशतं साग्रं शिवलोके महीयते
Whoever performs this third-day rite, which grants endless fruits, is honored in the world of Shiva for a hundred million kalpas.
वित्तहीनो ऽपि कुरुते वर्षत्रयमुपोषणैः पुष्पमन्त्रविधानेन सो ऽपि तत्फलमाप्नुयात्
Even one without wealth, by observing the fast for three years with the prescribed flower-mantra ritual, attains that result.
नारी वा कुरुते या तु कुमारी विधवाथवा सापि तत्फलमाप्नोति गौर्यनुग्रहलालिता
A woman, whether maiden or widow, who performs it, also obtains that result, cherished by Gauri's grace.
इति पठति शृणोति वा य इत्थं गिरितनयाव्रतम् इन्द्रवाससंस्थः मतिमपि च ददाति सो ऽपि देवैर् अमरवधूजनकिंनरैश्च पूज्यः
Whoever recites or listens to the vow of the mountain-daughter in this manner, while wearing Indra's garments, and offers their mind, is honored by the gods, celestial maidens, and kinnaras.
अथान्यामपि वक्ष्यामि तृतीयां पापनाशिनीम् रसकल्याणिनीमेतां पुराकल्पविदो विदुः
Now I will speak of another, the third, which destroys sin and brings good fortune; those versed in ancient rites know it thus.
माघमासे तु सम्प्राप्ते तृतीयां शुक्लपक्षतः प्रातर्गव्येन पयसा तिलैः स्नानं समाचरेत्
When the month of Māgha arrives, on the third day of the waxing fortnight, one should bathe in the morning with cow's milk and sesame seeds.
स्नापयेन्मधुना देवीं तथैवेक्षुरसेन च गन्धोदकेन तु पुनर् लेपयेत्कुङ्कुमेन तु दक्षिणाङ्गानि सम्पूज्य ततो वामानि पूजयेत्
One should bathe the goddess with honey and likewise with sugarcane juice; then anoint her again with fragrant water, and with saffron, after worshipping her right limbs, then worship her left.
ललितायै नमो देव्याः पादौ गुल्फौ ततो ऽर्चयेत् जङ्घां जानुं तथा शान्त्यै तथैवोरुं श्रियै नमः
Salutations to the goddess Lalitā; after worshipping her feet and ankles, one should worship her shins and knees for peace, and likewise her thighs for prosperity.
मदालसायै तु कटिम् अमलायै तथोदरम् स्तनौ मदनवासिन्यै कुमुदायै च कन्दराम्
To Madālasā, the waist; to Amalā, the abdomen; to Madanavāsinī, the breasts; and to Kumudā, the hollows.
भुजं भुजाग्रं माधव्यै कमलायै मुखस्मिते भूललाटं च रुद्राण्यै शंकरायै तथालकान्
To Mādhavī, the arm and hand; to Kamalā, the smiling face; to Rudrāṇī, the forehead; to Śaṃkarā, the hair.
मुकुटं विश्ववासिन्यै शिरः कान्त्यै तथार्चयेत् मदनायै ललाटं तु मोहनायै पुनर्भ्रुवौ
To Viśvavāsinī, the crown; to Kāntī, the head; to Madanā, the forehead; and again to Mohanā, the eyebrows.
नेत्रे चन्द्रार्धधारिण्यै तुष्ट्यै च वदनं पुनः उत्कण्ठिन्यै नमः कण्ठम् अमृतायै नमः स्तनौ
To Candrārdhadhāriṇī, the eyes; to Tuṣṭī, the mouth; to Utkaṇṭhinī, the throat; to Amṛtā, the breasts.
रम्भायै वामकुक्षिं च विशोकायै नमः कटिम् हृदयं मन्मथाधिष्ण्यै पाटलायै तथोदरम्
To Rambhā, the left side; to Viśokā, the waist; to Manmathādhiṣṭhā, the heart; to Pāṭalā, the abdomen.
