अनमित्राच्छिनिर्जज्ञे कनिष्ठाद्वृष्णिनन्दनात् सत्यकस्तस्य पुत्रस्तु सात्यकिस्तस्य चात्मजः
From Anamitra was born Śini, the youngest of the Vṛṣṇis; Satyaka was his son, and Sātyaki was his own son.
सत्यवान्युयुधानस्तु शिनेर्नप्ता प्रतापवान् असङ्गो युयुधानस्य द्युम्निस्तस्यात्मजो ऽभवत्
Satyavān and Yuyudhāna were the grandsons of Śini, both illustrious; Asaṅga was the son of Yuyudhāna, and Dyumni was his son.
द्युम्नेर्युगंधरः पुत्र इति शैन्याः प्रकीर्तिताः अनमित्रान्वयो ह्य् एष व्याख्यातो वृष्णिवंशजः
Dyumni's son was Yugaṃdhara; thus the Śainyas are renowned. This is the lineage of Anamitra, the descendant of the Vṛṣṇis, as explained.
अनमित्रस्य संजज्ञे पृथ्व्यां वीरो युधाजितः अन्यौ तु तनयौ वीरौ वृषभः क्षत्र एव च
From Anamitra was born the hero Yudhājit on earth; and two other heroic sons, Vṛṣabha and Kṣatra.
वृषभः काशिराजस्य सुतां भार्यामविन्दत जयन्तस्तु जयन्त्यां तु पुत्रः समभवच्छुभः
Vṛṣabha took as wife the daughter of the king of Kāśī, and from Jayantī, Jayanta had a virtuous son.
सदायज्ञो ऽतिवीरश्च श्रुतवानतिथिप्रियः अक्रूरः सुषुवे तस्मात् सदायज्ञो ऽतिदक्षिणः
Sadāyajña, exceedingly valiant, learned, and fond of guests, was born from Akrūra; Sadāyajña was most generous.
रत्ना कन्या च शैब्यस्य अक्रूरस्तामवाप्तवान् पुत्रानुत्पादयामास एकादश महाबलान्
Ratnā, the daughter of Śaibya, was obtained by Akrūra, and he begot upon her eleven mighty sons.
उपलम्भः सदालम्भो वृकलो वीर्य एव च सवीतरः सदापक्षः शत्रुघ्नो वारिमेजयः
Upalambha, Sadālambha, Vṛkala, and also Vīrya, Savītara, Sadāpakṣa, Śatrughna, and Vārimejaya,
धर्मभृद्धर्मवर्माणौ धृष्टमानस्तथैव च सर्वे च प्रतिहोतारो रत्नायां जज्ञिरे च ते
Dharmabhṛt, Dharmavarman, Dhṛṣṭamāna likewise, and all these officiating priests were born from Ratnā.
अक्रूराद् उग्रसेनायां सुतौ द्वौ कुलवर्धनौ देववानुपदेवश्च जज्ञाते देवसंनिभौ
From Akrūra, in Ugrasena's line, two sons were born, enhancers of the lineage: Devavān and Upadeva, both resembling the gods.
अश्विन्यां च ततः पुत्राः पृथुर् विपृथुरेव च अश्वत्थामा सुबाहुश्च सुपार्श्वकगवेषणौ
Then, from Aśvinī, were born sons: Pṛthu, Vipṛthu, Aśvatthāmā, Subāhu, and Supārśvaka and Gaveṣaṇa.
वृष्टिनेमिः सुधर्मा च तथा शर्यातिरेव च अभूमिर् वर्जभूमिश्च श्रमिष्ठः श्रवणस्तथा
Vṛṣṭinemi, Sudharmā, and likewise Śaryāti, Abhūmi, Varjabhūmi, Śramiṣṭha, and also Śravaṇa.
इमां मिथ्याभिशस्तिं यो वेद कृष्णादपोहिताम् न स मिथ्याभिशापेन अभिशाप्यो ऽथ केनचित्
Whoever knows this false accusation, cast away by Kṛṣṇa, is not subject to the curse of a false accusation by anyone.
ऐक्ष्वाकी सुषुवे शूरं ख्यातमद्भुतमीढुषम् पौरुषाज्जज्ञिरे शूराद् भोजायां पुत्रका दश
Aikṣvākī bore Śūra, renowned, wondrous, and praiseworthy; from Śūra, through his manliness, ten sons were born to Bhojā.
वसुदेवो महाबाहुः पूर्वमानकदुन्दुभिः देवमार्गस्ततो जज्ञे ततो देवश्रवाः पुनः
Vasudeva, mighty-armed, formerly called Ānakadundubhi, was born; then Devamārga, and after him, Devaśravā.
अनाधृष्टिः शिनिश्चैव नन्दश्चैव ससृञ्जयः श्यामः शमीकः संयूपः पञ्च चास्य वराङ्गनाः
Anādhṛṣṭi, Śini, Nanda, Sṛñjaya, Śyāma, Śamīka, Saṃyūpa, and five noble women were his.
श्रुतकीर्तिः पृथा चैव श्रुतादेवी श्रुतश्रवाः राजाधिदेवी च तथा पञ्चैता वीरमातरः
Śrutakīrti, Pṛthā, Śrutādevī, Śrutaśravā, and Rājādhidevī—these five were mothers of heroes.
कृतस्य तु श्रुतादेवी सुग्रीवं सुषुवे सुतम् कैकेय्यां श्रुतकीर्त्यां तु जज्ञे सो ऽनुव्रतो नृपः
Śrutādevī bore to Kṛta a son, Sugrīva; and in Kaikeyī, from Śrutakīrti, was born the righteous king Anuvrata.
श्रुतश्रवसि चैद्यस्य सुनीथः समपद्यत बहुशो धर्मचारी स संबभूवारिमर्दनः
From Śrutaśravā, the Cedi king, Sunītha was born; he was greatly devoted to righteousness and became a destroyer of foes.
अथ सख्येन वृद्धे ऽसौ कुन्तिभोजे सुतां ददौ एवं कुन्ती समाख्याता वसुदेवस्वसा पृथा
Then, through friendship, he gave his daughter to Kuntibhoja; thus Kuntī, also called Pṛthā, was known as Vasudeva's sister.
वसुदेवेन सा दत्ता पाण्डोर्भार्या ह्य् अनिन्दिता पाण्डोरर्थेन सा जज्ञे देवपुत्रान् महारथान्
She was given by Vasudeva as an unblemished wife to Pāṇḍu; by Pāṇḍu's wish, she bore heroic sons of divine descent.
धर्माद्युधिष्ठिरो जज्ञे वायोर्जज्ञे वृकादेरः इन्द्राद्धनंजयश् चैव शक्रतुल्यपराक्रमः
From Dharma was born Yudhiṣṭhira, from Vāyu was born Bhīma, and from Indra, Dhanaṃjaya, equal in prowess to Śakra.
माद्रवत्यां तु जनिताव् अश्विभ्याभिति शुश्रुम नकुलः सहदेवश्च रूपशीलगुणान्वितौ
We have heard that in Mādravatī, Nakula and Sahadeva, endowed with beauty, character, and virtue, were born of the Aśvins.
रोहिणी पौरवी नाम भार्या ह्य् आनकदुन्दुभेः लेभे ज्येष्ठं सुतं रामं सारणं च सुतं प्रियम्
Rohiṇī, called Pauravī, wife of Ānakadundubhi, bore the eldest son Rāma and the beloved son Sāraṇa.
दुर्दमं दमनं सुभ्रुं पिण्डारकमहाहनू चित्राक्ष्यौ द्वे कुमार्यौ तु रोहिण्यां जज्ञिरे तदा
Durdama, Damana, Subhru, Piṇḍāraka, Mahāhanū, and two maidens with beautiful eyes, Citrākṣī and another, were then born to Rohiṇī.
देवक्यां जज्ञिरे शौरेः सुषेणः कीर्तिमानपि उदासी भद्रसेनश्च ऋषिवासस्तथैव च षष्ठो भद्रविदेहश्च कंसः सर्वानघातयत्
To Devakī and Śauri were born Suṣeṇa, also renowned, Udāsī, Bhadrasena, Ṛṣivāsa, and likewise the sixth, Bhadravideha; Kaṃsa killed them all.
प्रथमा या अमावास्या वार्षिकी तु भविष्यति तस्यां जज्ञे महाबाहुः पूर्वं कृष्णः प्रजापतिः
On the first new moon of the rainy season, the mighty-armed Kṛṣṇa, lord of creatures, was formerly born.
अनुजा त्व् अभवत्कृष्णा सुभद्रा भद्रभाषिणी देवक्यां तु महातेजा जज्ञे शूरो महायशाः
His younger sister was Kṛṣṇā, called Subhadrā, who spoke auspiciously; and to Devakī was born the illustrious and mighty Śūra.
सहदेवस्तु ताम्रायां जज्ञे शौरिः कुलोद्वहः उपासङ्गधरं लेभे तनयं देवरक्षिता एकां कन्यां च सुभगां कंसस्ताम् अभ्यघातयत्
Sahadeva, the best of his lineage, was born to Tāmra by Śauri; Devarakṣitā bore a son, Upāsaṅgadhara, and one fortunate daughter, whom Kaṃsa killed.
विजयं रोचमानं च वर्धमानं तु देवलम् एते सर्वे महात्मानो ह्य् उपदेव्यां प्रजज्ञिरे
Vijaya, Rocamāna, Vardhamāna, and Devala—all these great souls were born to Upadevī.
