Madri bore a son, Yudhajit; then Devamidhuṣa, Anamitra, and Shibi, the fifth being Kritalakshana.
Anamitra's son was Nighna, and Nighna had two sons: Prasena, of great valor, and Shaktisena—these two.
Syamantaka, the unrivaled jewel, belonged to Prasena; among all the jewels on earth, that gem was king.
Though often requested for that jewel, keeping it in his heart, even Govinda could not obtain it, nor could he seize it though able.
Once, adorned with that jewel, Prasena went hunting; as was heard, he entered a cave filled with a wild beast.
Then, entering the cave, Prasena saw a bear; likewise, the bear saw Prasena, and Prasenajit saw the bear.
Having slain Prasena, the bear then took the jewel; unseen, he was killed by that one, who had entered a cave at that time.
When Govinda learned that Prasena had been killed, he became suspicious; it was clear to Govinda that Prasena had been slain for the sake of the jewel.
Prasena had gone to the forest, adorned with the jewel; seeing him, he was killed by that one. Govinda then said, 'I will slay this wicked one, who has become an enemy among the Vṛṣṇis.'
Then, after a long time, Govinda again went out hunting, and by chance he came near the entrance of the cave.
Seeing him, the powerful king of bears made a great noise; hearing the sound, Govinda, sword in hand, entered and saw Jāmbavān, the mighty king of bears.
Then Hṛṣīkeśa quickly seized the lord of bears, Jāmbavān, his eyes reddened with anger.
Then the bear praised him with deeds devoted to Viṣṇu; being thus satisfied, the Blessed Lord offered him a boon.
I desire death at your hand by the discus, O Lord; and may this my auspicious daughter obtain you as her husband. This jewel, which was obtained by me after slaying Prasena, O Lord—
Then the mighty-armed Lord, having slain Jāmbavān with the discus, accomplished his task and took the jewel along with the maiden.
He gave it to Satrājit in the assembly of all the Sātvatas; thus Janārdana was pained by the false accusation.
Then all the Yādavas said to Vāsudeva, 'We believed that Prasena was slain by you.'
Satrājit had ten noble wives, daughters of the king of the Kaikeyas; from them were born his sons, one hundred in number, renowned, famous, and mighty; Bhaṅgakāra was the eldest.
Then Vratavatī, from Bhaṅgakāra the eldest, gave birth to three delicate, lotus-eyed daughters.

From Anamitra was born Śini, the youngest of the Vṛṣṇis; Satyaka was his son, and Sātyaki was his own son.

Satyavān and Yuyudhāna were the grandsons of Śini, both illustrious; Asaṅga was the son of Yuyudhāna, and Dyumni was his son.
Dyumni's son was Yugaṃdhara; thus the Śainyas are renowned. This is the lineage of Anamitra, the descendant of the Vṛṣṇis, as explained.
From Anamitra was born the hero Yudhājit on earth; and two other heroic sons, Vṛṣabha and Kṣatra.

From Akrūra, in Ugrasena's line, two sons were born, enhancers of the lineage: Devavān and Upadeva, both resembling the gods.
