'Since you are pleased, I give you arrows— inexhaustible and facing all directions. Wherever they are released, they will blaze, endowed with my energy.'
'Infused with my energy, they will dry up the immovable things; they will burn the dry ones to ashes. By this, O king of men, satisfaction will be attained.'
Then the Sun gave those arrows to Arjuna, and he burned up all the immovable things that had come before him.
Villages, hermitages, cattle-stations, cities, delightful sacred groves, forests, and gardens— all these he burned.
Thus he burned the eastern region, and then the entire south. The earth became without trees and grass, destroyed by that terrible energy.
At that very time, the great sage, having taken to the waters, remained there for ten thousand years.

From Vṛjinīvān was born a son named Svāha, of great strength. Svāha's son, O king, was Ruṣaṅgu, best among speakers.
Ruṣaṅgu, desiring offspring, had a gentle-natured son named Citra, and Citra's son was Citraratha, accomplished in deeds.

Here is a verse of genealogy sung of old: Śaśabindu had a hundred sons, and each of them had a hundred sons.
They were wise, handsome, and possessed of great wealth and energy. Of those hundred leaders, Pṛthusāhva was mighty.

The knowers of ancient tradition declare that the foremost Pṛthuśravas was born as the son of Suyajña, in the interval between Suyajña's reigns.

Uśanā, son of Suyajña, who protected this earth, performed a hundred excellent horse sacrifices, being righteous.
Titikṣu, the son of Uśanā, was called Śatrutāpana; Marutta, his son, was the greatest among royal sages.
Among Marutta's sons was the heroic Kambalabarhiṣa; his son, learned Kambalabarhiṣa, wore golden armor.

The father established Parigha and Hari in Videha; Rukmeṣu became king, and Pṛthurukma was his supporter.

Having reached the mountain Ṛkṣavanta, he sat where others had eaten; Jyāmagha's wife, Caitrā, matured and faithful, was with him.
The king lived childless, not finding another wife; he won victory in battle there and obtained a maiden.
Out of fear, he said to his wife, 'Let this pure-smiling girl be your daughter-in-law.' Thus addressed, she asked him, 'Whose daughter-in-law is she?'
'She will be the wife of the son who will be born to you.' Therefore, by severe austerity, she gave birth to a daughter for the maiden.
