अथर्वमसितं मन्त्रं कलाष्टकसमायुतम् अभिचारिकमत्यर्थं त्रयस्त्रिंशच्छुभाक्षरम्
He saw the Atharvan mantra, black in color, endowed with eight kalās, extremely potent for magical acts, composed of thirty-three auspicious syllables.
यजुर्वेदसमायुक्तं पञ्चत्रिंशच्छुभाक्षरम् कलाष्टकसमायुक्तं सुश्वेतं शान्तिकं तथा
He saw the mantra associated with the Yajurveda, composed of thirty-five auspicious syllables, endowed with eight kalās, pure white and bringing peace.
त्रयोदशकलायुक्तं बालाद्यैः सह लोहितम् सामोद्भवं जगत्याद्यं वृद्धिसंहारकारणम्
He saw the one endowed with thirteen kalās, red in color, together with Bālā and others, arising from Sāma, the first in the world, the cause of growth and destruction.
वर्णाः षडधिकाः षष्टिर् अस्य मन्त्रवरस्य तु पञ्च मन्त्रांस् तथा लब्ध्वा जजाप भगवान् हरिः
The letters of this mantra are sixty-six in number; having thus obtained the five mantras, the blessed Hari recited them.
अथ दृष्ट्वा कलावर्णम् ऋग्यजुःसामरूपिणम् ईशानमीशमुकुटं पुरुषास्यं पुरातनम्
Then, seeing the form of the divisions of time, embodying the Rig, Yajur, and Sama Vedas, the Lord, crowned as Ishana, with a primeval human face—
अघोरहृदयं हृद्यं वामगुह्यं सदाशिवम् सद्यः पादं महादेवं महाभोगीन्द्रभूषणम्
With the heart of Aghora, delightful, with the left side concealed, ever-auspicious Sadashiva, the immediate foot of the Great God, adorned with the mighty serpent king—
विश्वतः पादवदनं विश्वतो ऽक्षिकरं शिवम् ब्रह्मणो ऽधिपतिं सर्गस्थितिसंहारकारणम्
Shiva, whose faces and feet are everywhere, whose eyes and hands are everywhere, the Lord of Brahma, the cause of creation, preservation, and dissolution—
तुष्टाव पुनरिष्टाभिर् वाग्भिर् वरदमीश्वरम्
Again praised the boon-giving Lord with desired words.
एकाक्षराय रुद्राय अकारायात्मरूपिणे उकारायादिदेवाय विद्यादेहाय वै नमः
Salutation to Rudra, the One Syllable, the letter A, the embodiment of the Self, the letter U, the primal god, the one whose body is knowledge.
तृतीयाय मकाराय शिवाय परमात्मने सूर्याग्निसोमवर्णाय यजमानाय वै नमः
Salutation to the third, the letter M, to Shiva, the supreme Self, of the colors of sun, fire, and moon, the one to be worshipped.
अग्नये रुद्ररूपाय रुद्राणां पतये नमः शिवाय शिवमन्त्राय सद्योजाताय वेधसे
Salutation to Agni, of Rudra form, the lord of Rudras; to Shiva, the Shiva-mantra, to Sadyojata, the creator.
वामाय वामदेवाय वरदायामृताय ते अघोरायातिघोराय सद्योजाताय रंहसे
To Vama, to Vamadeva, to the boon-giver, to the immortal; to Aghora, to the exceedingly fierce, to Sadyojata, the swift—salutations.
ईशानाय श्मशानाय अतिवेगाय वेगिने नमो ऽस्तु श्रुतिपादाय ऊर्ध्वलिङ्गाय लिङ्गिने
Salutations to Ishana, to the lord of cremation grounds, to the supremely swift, to the swift one; to the foundation of the Vedas, to the upward-facing Linga, to the Linga-bearer.
हेमलिङ्गाय हेमाय वारिलिङ्गाय चांभसे शिवाय शिवलिङ्गाय व्यापिने व्योमव्यापिने
To the golden Linga, to the golden one, to the water Linga, to the watery one; to Shiva, to the Shiva Linga, to the all-pervading, to the sky-pervading—salutations.
वायवे वायुवेगाय नमस्ते वायुव्यापिने तेजसे तेजसां भर्त्रे नमस्तेजो ऽधिव्यापिने
To Vayu, to the one of wind's speed—salutations; to the all-pervading wind, to the radiant one, to the lord of radiances, to the all-pervading radiance—salutations.
जलाय जलभूताय नमस्ते जलव्यापिने पृथिव्यै चान्तरिक्षाय पृथिवीव्यापिने नमः
To water, to the being of water—salutations; to the all-pervading water; to earth and to the midspace, to the all-pervading earth—salutations.
शब्दस्पर्शस्वरूपाय रसगन्धाय गन्धिने गणाधिपतये तुभ्यं गुह्याद्गुह्यतमाय ते
To the one whose form is sound and touch, to taste and fragrance, to the fragrant one; to you, the lord of the hosts, to the most secret of the secret—
अनन्ताय विरूपाय अनन्तानामयाय च शाश्वताय वरिष्ठाय वारिगर्भाय योगिने
To the infinite, the formless, the endless, the disease-free; to the eternal, the supreme, the one whose womb is water, to the yogi—
संस्थितायाम्भसां मध्ये आवयोर्मध्यवर्चसे गोप्त्रे हर्त्रे सदा कर्त्रे निधनायेश्वराय च
To the one established in the midst of waters, the radiance between us two, the protector, the destroyer, the ever-creator, and the lord of dissolution—
अचेतनाय चिन्त्याय चेतनायासहारिणे अरूपाय सुरूपाय अनङ्गायाङ्गहारिणे
To the unconscious, the conceivable, the destroyer of consciousness; to the formless, the beautiful form, the bodiless, the destroyer of bodies—
भस्मदिग्धशरीराय भानुसोमाग्निहेतवे श्वेताय श्वेतवर्णाय तुहिनाद्रिचराय च
To the one whose body is smeared with ashes, the cause of sun, moon, and fire; to the white one, of white complexion, and the wanderer of snowy mountains—
सुश्वेताय सुवक्त्राय नमः श्वेतशिखाय च श्वेतास्याय महास्याय नमस्ते श्वेतलोहित
To the very white, the beautiful-faced—salutations; to the one with white crest, to the white-faced, the great-faced—salutations to the white and red one.
सुताराय विशिष्टाय नमो दुन्दुभिने हर शतरूपविरूपाय नमः केतुमते सदा
Salutations to you, Hara, who are the excellent rescuer, the drum, the one with a hundred forms and formlessness, and always possessed of the banner.
ऋद्धिशोकविशोकाय पिनाकाय कपर्दिने विपाशाय सुपाशाय नमस्ते पाशनाशिने
To you who are free from prosperity and sorrow, to the wielder of the bow Pinaka, the matted-haired one, the unfettered, the well-binder, and the destroyer of bonds—salutations.
सुहोत्राय हविष्याय सुब्रह्मण्याय सूरिणे सुमुखाय सुवक्त्राय दुर्दमाय दमाय च
Salutations to the excellent sacrificer, the one worthy of offerings, the supremely holy, the wise, the auspicious-faced, the well-featured, the unconquerable, and the subduer.
कङ्काय कङ्करूपाय कङ्कणीकृतपन्नग सनकाय नमस्तुभ्यं सनातन सनन्दन
Salutations to the heron, to the one who takes the form of a heron, to the one who has made serpents into ornaments, to Sanaka, to the eternal, and to Sanandana.
सनत्कुमारसारङ्गम् आरणाय महात्मने लोकाक्षिणे त्रिधामाय नमो विरजसे सदा
Salutations to Sanatkumara, the charioteer, the one who resides in the forest, the great-souled, the observer of the worlds, the one with three abodes, and ever pure.
शङ्खपालाय शङ्खाय रजसे तमसे नमः सारस्वताय मेघाय मेघवाहन ते नमः
Salutations to Shankhapala, to the conch, to the quality of passion, to darkness, to Sarasvata, to the cloud, and to you, the cloud-rider.
सुवाहाय विवाहाय विवादवरदाय च नमः शिवाय रुद्राय प्रधानाय नमोनमः
Salutations to the good vehicle, the arranger of marriages, the bestower of success in disputes, to Shiva, to Rudra, to the chief—again and again, salutations.
त्रिगुणाय नमस्तुभ्यं चतुर्व्यूहात्मने नमः संसाराय नमस्तुभ्यं नमः संसारहेतवे
Salutations to you, who are the three qualities, to the one whose nature is the fourfold emanation; salutations to you, who are the world-process, and to the cause of the world-process.
