तेजसा तस्य देवास्ते सेन्द्रचन्द्रदिवाकराः सब्रह्मकाः ससाध्याश् च सनारायणकास् तथा

By his radiance, those gods—along with Indra, the Moon, the Sun, Brahma, the Sādhyas, and Narayana—

सयमाश् च सरुद्राश् च चक्षुरप्रार्थयन् विभुम् तेभ्यश् च परमं चक्षुः सर्वदृष्टौ च शक्तिमत्

With Yama and the Rudras, they sought vision of the Lord; to them he granted supreme sight, endowed with the power to see all.

ददावंबापतिः शर्वो भवान्याश् च चलस्य च लब्ध्वा चक्षुस्तदा देवा इन्द्रविष्णुपुरोगमाः

The Lord Śarva, master of waters, bestowed vision upon Bhavānī and Cala; having received sight, the gods led by Indra and Viṣṇu—

सब्रह्मकः सशक्राश् च तमपश्यन्महेश्वरम् ब्रह्माद्या नेमिरे तूर्णं भवानी च गिरीश्वरः

With Brahma, Śakra, and others, beheld Maheśvara; Brahma and the foremost hurried to bow, as did Bhavānī and the Lord of the Mountain.

मुनयश् च महादेवं गणेशाः शिवसंमताः ससर्जुः पुष्पवृष्टिं च खेचराः सिद्धचारणाः

The sages, the leaders of Śiva's hosts, and those esteemed by Śiva, showered flowers; the sky-dwellers, Siddhas, and Cāraṇas did likewise.

देवदुन्दुभयो नेदुस् तुष्टुवुर्मुनयः प्रभुम् जगुर्गन्धर्वमुख्याश् च ननृतुश्चाप्सरोगणाः

Divine drums resounded, the sages praised the Lord, the chief Gandharvas sang, and the groups of Apsarases danced.

मुमुहुर्गणपाः सर्वे मुमोदांबा च पार्वती तस्य देवी तदा हृष्टा समक्षं त्रिदिवौकसाम्

All the hosts rejoiced, and Pārvatī, the mother, was delighted; the goddess was thrilled in the presence of the dwellers of heaven.

पादयोः स्थापयामास मालां दिव्यां सुगन्धिनीम् साधु साध्विति सम्प्रोच्य तया तत्रैव चार्चितम्

She placed a divine, fragrant garland at his feet, saying 'Excellent, excellent,' and worshipped him there.

सह देव्या नमश्चक्रुः शिरोभिर् भूतलाश्रितैः सर्वे सब्रह्मका देवाः सयक्षोरगराक्षसाः

Together with the goddess, all the gods, including Brahma, bowed with their heads touching the ground, along with Yakṣas, Nāgas, and Rākṣasas.

अथ ब्रह्मा महादेवम् अभिवन्द्य कृताञ्जलिः उद्वाहः क्रियतां देव इत्युवाच महेश्वरम्

Then Brahma, with joined palms, bowed to Mahādeva and said, 'Let the wedding be performed, O Lord,' addressing Maheśvara.

तस्य तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा ब्रह्मणः परमेष्ठिनः यथेष्टमिति लोकेशं प्राह भूतपतिः प्रभुः

Hearing those words of Brahma, the supreme lord, the master of beings, replied to the Lord of the world, 'Let it be as you wish.'

उद्वाहार्थं महेशस्य तत्क्षणादेव सुव्रताः ब्रह्मणा कल्पितं दिव्यं पुरं रत्नमयं शुभम्

For the wedding of Maheśa, at that very moment, the virtuous ones saw a divine, splendid city, made of jewels, created by Brahma.

अथादितिर्दितिः साक्षाद् दनुः कद्रुः सुकालिका पुलोमा सुरसा चैव सिंहिका विनता तथा

Then Aditi, Diti, Danu, Kadru, Sukālikā, Pulomā, Surasā, Siṃhikā, and Vinatā appeared directly.

सिद्धिर्माया क्रिया दुर्गा देवी साक्षात्सुधा स्वधा सावित्री वेदमाता च रजनी दक्षिणा द्युतिः

Siddhi, Māyā, Kriyā, Durgā, the goddess herself, Sudhā, Svadhā, Sāvitrī, the mother of the Vedas, Rājanī, Dakṣiṇā, and Dyuti—

स्वाहा स्वाहामतिर् बुद्धिर् ऋद्धिर् वृद्धिः सरस्वती राका कुहूः सिनीवाली देवी अनुमती तथा

Svāhā, Svāhāmati, Buddhi, Ṛddhi, Vṛddhi, Sarasvatī, Rākā, Kuhū, Sinīvālī, the goddess Anumatī, and others—

धरणी धारणी चेला शची नारायणी तथा एताश्चान्याश् च देवानां मातरः पत्नयस् तथा

Dharaṇī, Dhāraṇī, Celā, Śacī, Nārāyaṇī, and others, mothers and wives of the gods, also appeared.

उद्वाहः शङ्करस्येति जग्मुः सर्वा मुदान्विताः उरगा गरुडा यक्षा गन्धर्वाः किन्नरा गणाः

Saying, 'This is Śaṅkara's wedding,' all went forth joyfully—serpents, Garuḍas, Yakṣas, Gandharvas, Kinnaras, and hosts.

सागरा गिरयो मेघा मासाः संवत्सरास् तथा वेदा मन्त्रास् तथा यज्ञाः स्तोमा धर्माश् च सर्वशः

The oceans, the mountains, the clouds, the months, the years, likewise the Vedas, the mantras, the sacrifices, the hymns, and all the laws of righteousness—

हुङ्कारः प्रणवश्चैव प्रतिहाराः सहस्रशः कोटिरप्सरसो दिव्यास् तासां च परिचारिकाः

The utterance 'huṅ', the sacred syllable 'Om', countless gatekeepers, a myriad of celestial nymphs, and their attendants—

याश् च सर्वेषु द्वीपेषु देवलोकेषु निम्नगाः ताश् च स्त्रीविग्रहाः सर्वाः संजग्मुर्हृष्टमानसाः

All the rivers in every island and in the realms of the gods, all took on feminine forms and came forth, their hearts filled with joy.

गणपाश् च महाभागाः सर्वलोकनमस्कृताः उद्वाहः शङ्करस्येति तत्राजग्मुर्मुदान्विताः

The exalted hosts of attendants, revered by all worlds, arrived there, delighted, for the wedding of Śaṅkara.

अभ्ययुः शङ्खवर्णाश् च गणकोट्यो गणेश्वराः दशभिः केकराक्षश् च विद्युतो ऽष्टाभिर् एव च

Hosts of attendants with conch-colored forms, and the lords of hosts, numbering in the millions, came; Kekarākṣa with ten, Vidyut with eight.

चतुःषष्ट्या विशाखाश् च नवभिः पारयात्रिकः षड्भिः सर्वान्तकः श्रीमान् तथैव विकृताननः

Viśākha with sixty-four, Pārayātrika with nine, Sarvāntaka the illustrious with six, and likewise Vikṛtānana.

ज्वालाकेशो द्वादशभिः कोटिभिर् गणपुङ्गवः सप्तभिः समदः श्रीमान् दुन्दुभो ऽष्टाभिर् एव च

Jvālākeśa, leader of hosts, with twelve million, Samada the illustrious with seven, Dundubha with eight.

पञ्चभिश् च कपालीशः षड्भिः संदारकः शुभः कोटिकोटिभिर् एवेह गण्डकः कुंभकस् तथा

Kapālīśa with five, Saṃdāraka the auspicious with six, Gaṇḍaka and Kuṃbhaka each with countless millions.

विष्टम्भो ऽष्टाभिर् एवेह गणपः सर्वसत्तमः पिप्पलश् च सहस्रेण संनादश् च तथा द्विजाः

Viṣṭambha, the foremost among attendants, with eight, Pippala with a thousand, and likewise Saṃnāda, O twice-born.

आवेष्टनस् तथाष्टाभिः सप्तभिश्चन्द्रतापनः महाकेशः सहस्रेण कोटीनां गणपो वृतः

Āveṣṭana with eight, Candratāpana with seven, Mahākeśa with a thousand, surrounded by millions of attendants.

कुण्डी द्वादशभिर् वीरस् तथा पर्वतकः शुभः कालश् च कालकश्चैव महाकालः शतेन वै

Kuṇḍī with twelve, Vīra and Parvataka the auspicious, Kāla and Kālaka, and Mahākāla with a hundred.

आग्निकः शतकोट्या वै कोट्याग्निमुख एव च आदित्यमूर्धा कोट्या च तथा चैव धनावहः

Āgnika with a hundred million, Agnimukha with a million, Ādityamūrdhā with a million, and likewise Dhanāvaha.
